The Fords Of Tunerfest North 2022
24th July 2022
They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but the sun can certainly cook the same place twice. Last year I remarked how lucky it was that Tunerfest North coincided with a week long heatwave. Fast forward a year and the weather situation was also favourable, with near identical 27°c temperatures by mid afternoon. Mercifully the show being on Saturday was spared the even warmer digits predicted in the next couple of days.
This year the paddock was open to…
Ford Fair 2021: Classics & Retro
30th January 2022
A distinctly more racier collection than the previous event, this was down to the presence of entrants from the Modified Fords Series. This provides a number of classes to cater for everything from a Mk5 Fiesta Zetec-S to RS200s and Millington powered SHP RSRs.
Worthy of particular note were the Zakspeed/Group 5 inspired Mk2 Escort and the Zakspeed Castrol Mk2. Elsewhere the NA Cosworth powered Mk2 RS2000 and the something-turbo grey Mk2 were most impressive.
It's always nice to see to see…
Ford Fair 2021: Cosworth & RS200
30th December 2021
You might think that there'd be little new to see on the Cosworth scene each year, after all they've not made any new ones for 25 years and the values of them are soo high now you'd forgive the owners for not wanting to make any modifications. Development of new mods must have ground to a halt, given the limited market and dwindling numbers.
You wouldn't be entirely correct though, as despite the reappearance of several cars we've seen before, there…
Ford Fair 2021: Escort Exhibition
31st October 2021
To me it seems the Mk4 Escort is reaching something of a midpoint where it's no longer a contemporary car but doesn't seem quite old enough to be considered a classic. It might just be my interpretations though, as when I first really got into the scene it was still very much a current vehicle compared to the Mk1 and Mk2 which were already cemented with retro status. What makes things trickier is the presence of the two Carrera built…
Ford Fair 2021: Focus Peeking
2nd October 2021
The Focus’ perennial appeal is still apparent and the sheer number of photos of them on here suggest that this site could be more accurately named focusturbo.com, although the content being described by the name is something that hasn’t been exact since the very first iteration back in 1999.
I thought this gallery of 106 photos might be a record, but it fell short by two compared to 2013’s 108. This isn’t a true reflection of the number of Focuses at…
Ford Fair 2021: Fun With Fiestas
4th September 2021
Small but perfectly formed, small ones are more juicy naturally, the best things come in small packages. There's seemingly a whole range of counterpoints to the idea that bigger is better and there's a strong case that this applies to cars. Smaller cars weigh less, cost less, tend to handle better, are easier to manoeuvre and are more likely to fit through the increasingly narrow garage apertures beloved of modern house builders.
It's a shame then that the smaller of Ford's…
Ford Fair 2021: Back With A Bang
14th August 2021
Not just bangs, but pops, crackles and other exhaust noises punctuating the air around Silverstone with the largest gathering of Fords on the show calendar.
With the cancellation of last years show there’s been a pent up feeling of wanting to get back to days like this and it showed in attendance with large crowds and a sizeable number of cars on display. Even the damp weather, repeated from 2019, wasn’t too much of a hinderance.
If you’ve been living under a…
The Fords Of Tunerfest North 2021
21st July 2021
Sometimes you get lucky. Back in 2016 when I last attended Tunerfest, the weather was not playing ball, despite being held mid July. This year saw the show land in the middle of a week long heatwave which brought cloudless blue skies and 27°c to Oulton Park.
A decent selection of cars on display, but nothing jaw-dropping like you might get at the larger events, Ford-wise at least. The modified Mk8 Fiesta ST was the first one I'd seen I think,…
Ford Fair 2019: Classics & Retro
1st March 2020
When it comes to classic, retro and old skool Fords it's the Escort that's still the king. Outnumbering even Fiestas by what seems like ten to one. I believe that for a time the Escort was Britain's best selling car - a title now held by the Fiesta. I suspect the increasing size of cars has lead to this shift.
It does make me wonder what the classic scene will look like in 20, 30 or even 40 years time. I…
The Fords Of TRAX 2019
17th November 2019
As much as I enjoy the wider car scene that TRAX provides, away from the insular nature of Ford Fair and other exclusively blue oval shows, it does present a bit of a problem for sites like this that are only interested in that brand. This being that a lot of the cars are "repeats" of Ford Fair. With only a few months separating the shows (but credit to the organisers for stretching this gap in recent years), there's not…
Ford Fair 2019: Cosworth & RS200
27th October 2019
Everyone loves a Cosworth - perhaps Ford's finest hour and still eternally popular amongst a sea of Fiestas and Focuses. Ford Fair almost guarantees to bring out the best examples - from concourse gems to track weapons and everything in between, and this year was no exception.
As always, a nice split of Escorts, Sierras and cars that shouldn't have a Cosworth engine, but do have a Cosworth engine. Not content with having the amazing Mk1 Focus RS with the incredible…
Ford Fair 2019: Focus Friends
26th September 2019
Emulation and inspiration are staples of the modifying scene, or maybe even staples of life itself. As children we all had that friend who we wanted to be just like - we'd like things because they liked them, and copy what they did. As we grow up that concept never really leaves us. It's evident with cars although the source isn't necessarily other people, it's other cars too. Seeing what others have done and copying with our own twist or…
Ford Fair 2019: Fiesta Family
30th August 2019
Eight generations is quite an achievement, I'm struggling to think of another car that's gone through so many iterations and is still as popular today as it was when it was launched. With the Fiesta it may be even more so as it was 2018's best-selling new car.
Ford Fair exhibited cars from every generation, from the retro cool of the Mk1 to the latest and greatest Mk8 ST. Like any brand new Ford, there were precious few modified examples of…
Ford Fair 2019: Crowds & Clouds
15th August 2019
As anyone who lives in the UK, has visited the UK, or even heard of the UK, changeable weather is an almost constant source of discussion and the biggest threat to anyone organising an outdoor event, regardless of the time of year.
After the scorcher of last year many were looking forward to something slightly cooler but after the 35°c heatwave a few weeks prior the possibility of an even warmer day loomed. Luckily the temperatures subsided to the seasonal average…
Ford Fair 2018: Classics & Retro
16th December 2018
It could be said that determining what qualifies as classic or retro is not an easy task. Nowhere is it written in Ford law that a car of a certain age automatically qualifies as one or both. Likewise, there is no panel of experts who accept nominations for models then retire to mull and discuss the various merits behind closed doors before announcing their decisions.
Certainly, for the Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts no-one could argue to the contrary, and these days…
The Fords Of TRAX 2018
21st October 2018
Sometimes you take a chance and it just works out. Like planning a car show to take place in October, in the UK. Incredibly instead of freezing cold and rain the weather was spectacular - dry with blue skies and sunshine. Great weather brings out great cars whose owners may not venture out in inclement conditions, and that certainly seemed to be the case.
There were quite a few cars we saw at Ford Fair, but also plenty we didn’t. The…
Ford Fair 2018: Cosworth & RS200
4th October 2018
Despite the cars in this gallery being a similar age (within 6 years or so) the direction they have been modified plants them firmly in a specific time period, whether genuine or tributary. The tiger stripe Sapphire on three spokes screams "1992", and the Martini Escort with O•Z rims visually harks back to 1996. The same base car in Hudd Motorsport's example pulls you right back to now with the carbon, dive planes and lightweight Team Dynamics wheels.
Often old ex-racer…
Ford Fair 2018: Focus DIY
9th September 2018
With a car as popular as the Focus, it takes some thought to stand out. Sometimes this is subtle - Mk3 RS wheels on a Mk2 RS, a wrap in a different but understated colour or a carefully tailored retrim. A glimpse of a Recaro logo from a distance in a place where you'd not expect to see it on a Mk1 RS prompts closer inspection. Serious Pro Racer HANS chairs that retail for £1700+ each. Strong seating dedication.
Ford Fair 2018: Fiesta Feast
27th August 2018
An excellent showing of Fiestas this year, in a gallery nearly double the size of 2017. Most notable was Clark's RS Turbo, which used to look like this. Also impressive were a couple of PumaSpeed branded cars, the SCC ST and a few examples of the latest 3 cylinder ST. Scorpion wasting no time at all in getting an exhaust system designed and made for it.
A good number of Mk3s this year, the super clean red FRST with vented…
Ford Fair 2018: Life Is Fair
7th August 2018
Another year, another Ford Fair done, and this year's show didn't disappoint. The fantastic weather brought out some cars that are hidden away even if a slight risk of rain, and the organisation seemed to ease the queuing situation of previous years. It may have just been my luck, but I was able to roll up at around 10:15 and pretty much breeze straight…
Ford Fair 2017: Classics & Retro
10th December 2017
The popularity of classic Fords shows no signs of waning, and with each passing year any given Ford is inching closer to classic status. Some have a fair few years to go, but others like the Mk3 and Mk4 Escort are firmly there. It doesn't seem so long ago that this was considered a recent model and only the Mk1s and Mk2s could be deemed retro cars.
Replica GT40s are not an unusual sight at the show, but the black car…
Ford Fair 2017: Cosworth & RS200
25th November 2017
The appeal of the Cosworth remains as strong as ever and especially in Escort form it is considered by many to be the greatest Fast Ford ever made. There's good reason for this - despite being eclipsed in power, performance and technology by the newer Focuses, the subsequent cars have lacked at least one of the ingredients that made the Escort Cosworth special. The big three being an incredible engine, four wheel drive and the wide body. As yet a…
The Fords Of TRAX 2017
21st October 2017
TRAX continues to push the boundaries, not so much in terms of the cars on display, but more as to how late in the year you can have a major show and it not be a complete washout. We wern't quite as lucky as last year, but the damp and overcast conditions remained mostly rain free with the track drying out by the afternoon - crucial for the enjoyment of the sideways action, drifting just isn't drifting without smoke.
Ford Fair 2017: The Many Faces Of Focus
9th October 2017
The stamp of individuality is what makes the world of modified cars so captivating. Everyone starts with a similar canvas and the taste and creativity of the owner is imprinted on that starting point, resulting in a visual display of their personality. Everyone has their own idea of what a modfied car should be - some gravitate to one extreme - whether it's purely appearance, or just speed and power with no consideration as to what it looks like. Most…
Ford Fair 2017: Small Fords, Big Ideas
27th August 2017
Not a bad turn out this year for Fiestas, and some serious examples including Julian Godfrey's 580bhp Rallycross MK6, the drag racing Zetec Turbo Mk2 and the Cosworth powered Mk3, the latter two of which were featured in our Top 10 cars of the show on Facebook.
Always good to see the show regulars like Jon's white Zetec Turbo and Eddie's concours RST. Also quite a few other Mk3 RS Turbos, so they're still out…
Ford Fair 2017: The Spice Of Life
19th August 2017
Now into its scarcely believable 32nd year, Ford Fair occupied most of the available space at Silverstone. It’s interesting to see how the range of cars changes each year and one thing that certainly stood out for 2017 was the amount of Mustangs present. Mostly the UK versions but still quite a few…
Ford Fair 2016: Classics & Retro
23rd November 2016
For our fifth Ford Fair 2016 gallery we're looking at the classic cars from the show. As usual a fantastic selection of mostly Escorts but with a few other gems. The Zakspeed replica Capri looks a lot closer to completion that last year. It's good to see that it's looking like it's not going to be painted in the Jägermeister or Wurth scheme, which is good as it will give the car an identity of its own rather than trying…
Ford Fair 2016: Cosworth & RS200
23rd October 2016
Last year I wrote how the popularity of the Cosworth might have been on the decline. Happily this doesn't seem to be the case as they were out in force at Ford Fair this year. 2017 will mark 25 years since the introduction of the Escort Cosworth and it's great to see the cars being treated as both the modern classic they are and also the performance vehicle they were intended to be.
You can't go wrong with a classic rally…
The Fords Of TRAX 2016
13th October 2016
TRAX this year was unusually late in the season - right at the end of September, which was a bit of a risk given the changeable weather. It worked out fine though, overcast in the morning gave way to sunshine in the afternoon and the lower temperature compared to July or August was welcome when lugging camera gear around.
Due to Ford Fair having been held earlier (unlike last year) there were a lot of cars that had previously been seen…
Ford Fair 2016: Focus Groups
14th September 2016
It would be hard to argue that the popularity of the Focus hasn't eclipsed the Fiesta. As Ford's favorite child it receives the most attention and investment - there hasn't been an RS model that's not a Focus for over 20 years now. Ongoing speculation of a Fiesta RS has so far proved nothing more than wishful thinking.
As expected there was a large number of Mk3 RSs in attendance, and unsuprisingly most were standard. The market for tuning these is…
Ford Fair 2016: Tiempo De Fiesta
28th August 2016
With each consecutive year that passes and each corresponding Ford Fair, change is noticeably in effect. Trends emerge and fade, colour palettes surface and receed and certain models gravitate popularity. A few years ago I wrote how the Mk6 seemed to be the most frequent exhibitionist at the show. It's only taken that short amount of time for the Mk7 to eclipse it, no doubt due to the gradual aging reducing prices and the snowball effect of the car's popularity…
Ford Fair 2016: Ford Folk, Us
13th August 2016
Although an excellent show, Ford Fair this year seemed smaller than last year, a thought confirmed when downloading my photos - 239 compared to 303 last year. There were some repeats (if I've previously shot a car and it's visually no different I tend not to take another pic as it wastes space - both on the page and on disk), but the total number of pics I take is a good indication of the size of the show.
Tuner Fest North 2016: Fords
12th July 2016
The trouble with car shows in the UK is that even if you schedule them slap bang in the middle of summer you're still at the mercy of the British weather. Torrential rain does not make for an enjoyable show, but dark clouds make for dramatic photos and my decision to rock up to the event at a leisurely midday seemed to have paid off. Moody skies persisted, but the rain had stopped and everything was beginning to dry out.
Ford Fair 2015: Classics & Retro
15th November 2015
For our sixth gallery from Ford Fair this year we're taking a look at the older vehicles present at the show. As usual Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts were the most popular and the lasting appeal of these shows no signs of waning. Also noteworthy was the Escort RS1700T and the Cosworth powered Anglia on the Classic Ford stand.
The most interesting and promising pick of this bunch has to be the work-in-progress Zakspeed Capri replica. Based on the Group 5 machines…
Ford Fair 2015: Cosworth & RS200
11th October 2015
Two years we mentioned that the popularity of the Cosworth may be on the decline. In 2013 the Ford Fair gallery had 30 photos. Last year a couple less and this year just 24. I imagine some of the less well cared for examples will rust away and be scrapped, but where do the rest go?
I think with the launch of the Mk3 Focus RS some owners who prefer their Fast Fords with 4WD will finally jump ship so maybe…
Ford Fair 2015: Focus Point
19th September 2015
The popularity of the Focus shows no signs of waning and every Ford Fair seems to produce an even higher number of examples. This abundance drives people to create something different which as you can see from the photos below can be good, or not so good!
Ford's own stand had the new Mk3 RS on display. Opinions seemed to be polarised - for some people the 4x4 compensating for less road presence and a not so special engine than the…
Ford Fair 2015: Fantastic Fiestas
28th August 2015
We've seen all the Mk3 Fiestas from Ford Fair this year and now it's time to check out all the others. The undoubted Star Of The Show was Marc's JWRC kitted Mk6 Cosworth making it's show (and track) debut. What was originally a grotty 100k miles diesel has been transformed beyond all recognition into an incredible machine with most of the work being done by Marc himself. You can read the complete history of the build here.
Elsewhere a lot…
Mk3 Still Going Strong
17th August 2015
Ford Fair this year was incredible for Mk3 Fiestas. Given that there was only a handful last year I don't know where they have all come from. Some we've seen before but a lot were new. It's been a fair few years since it was possible to post a gallery consisting solely of the Mk3, but here we are doing just that and over 25 years since the model was launched. Here's to another…
What We Saw At The Fair
6th August 2015
Ford Fair was huge. Massive. Expansive. Certainly the biggest ever. There’s stacks of photos to post over the coming weeks, categorised as usual, but by way of an introduction to this year’s show here’s an initial selection of cars that don’t fit into the Fiesta/Focus/Cosworth/Old School…
The Fords Of TRAX 2015
3rd August 2015
As mentioned previously, the turnout of Fords at TRAX this year wasn't great, due to a date clash with RSOC National Day. Fortunately Ford Fair really delivered so there are plenty of great cars in the forthcoming galleries for that show.
Although not a Ford, the Cosworth engined Dimma Clio in the last photo I thought was worthy of…
The Fiestas Of TRAX 2015
28th July 2015
A date change for Trax this year brought the show forward by six weeks or so from the usual beginning of September to mid July. This also created an unfortunate clash with the RS Owners Club's National Day, meaning the turnout of Fords wasn't as great as previous years. There were still plenty of Fiestas though. I guess with it being 20 years since we last had a Fiesta RS they don't feel particularly at home at National Day.
TRAX Takes All Sorts
21st July 2015
Many of us view cars as a blank canvas to display our originality and taste. This leads to all kind of strange creations. Here are a few examples which caught my attention at TRAX this…
Ford Fair 2014: Track Action
26th November 2014
Our last visit to Ford Fair this year and we finish up with track action. I've tried to add some variety to the photos this year by shooting from different points around the track and also at a selection of zoom lengths. Another way I've used to get a different looks is the shutter speed. A fast shutter speed will freeze motion but produce a clear, sharp photo. A slower shutter speed will give a better sense of speed but…
The Fords Of TRAX 2014
28th October 2014
Our third and final gallery from Trax this year contains the rest of the Fords present that weren't Fiestas or Focuses. Escorts, Sierras, a couple of KAs and more Mustangs than you'd expect to see at a show like this.
Maybe next year we'll see one or two of the 2015 UK spec…
The Focuses Of TRAX 2014
7th October 2014
A seemingly ever increasing Ford presence at TRAX means this year for the first time there's enough Blue Ovals to fill not just two, but three galleries. Right now it's the turn of the Focus. We'll finish up with the other Fords next time then back to Ford Fair for the rest of what we saw…
The Fiestas Of TRAX 2014
15th September 2014
TRAX this year seemed to have increased in size compared to 2013 - the stands spreading further out into the area surrounding the track with many clubs in attendance. Plenty of Fiestas too, with the Mk6 and Mk7 being the most popular choices although theew was a couple of Mk3s. Two stood out for very different reasons. The red sleeper Zetec Turbo on the Fast Ford stand was very nicely done, and what appeared to be a standard-ish Si turned…
Ford Fair 2014: Classics & Retro
3rd September 2014
Two years ago we used the phrase "Old Fords don’t die, they just get faster". Looking at the dimensions of some of the Escorts at Ford Fair this year it might be more apt to replace faster with fatter. X-Pack, bubble, forest or tarmac, there are many ways to make your 'scort wider. Such an increase requires wider wheels and many of these old cars sport new wheels, wrapped in the latest grippy rubber. 40 years of tyre technology to…
Ford Fair 2014: Cosworth & RS200
27th August 2014
Is an RS200 technically a Cosworth? Their BDT engine was produced by them, but unlike the Sierras and Escorts it was not badged as such. Previously I've grouped them in, but there was enough present at the show this year to add their designation to the title of this gallery. I counted four, including MDV's tarmac racer (more on that later) and the standard one in the concours. I didn't photo that one as it's identical to how it was…
Ford Fair 2014: Focal Range
18th August 2014
The Focus appears to be getting more popular every year, and with this in mind people are going further with modifications in order to create something unique. We're seeing more cars than ever with full wraps - an excellent and non-permanant way to immediately stand out, along with some tasty wheel choices such as the white Jaguar XF ones below.
Several time over the past few years I've snapped a Focus RS500 with the plate "BA57ORD". This used to be matt…
Ford Fair 2014: Fiesta Fiesta
10th August 2014
We love Fiestas. They're why we're all here - on the site, not the planet that is. Ford Fair always displays the variety that exists on the scene and the Fiesta is no different. With every generation represented, from standard concours to track machine, they're something for every taste.
Car of the show for me had to be SCC Performance's wide-arch ST. With a Revo mapped engine, race seats and a eye catching wrap, the Fifteen52 wheels finished it off…
Ford Fair 2014: Weird & Wonderful
4th August 2014
For our first look at Ford Fair 2014, I decided to pick out some of the more interesting cars at the show which ultimately means very strange, very impressive or in some cases - both.
A Case in point being KMS Motorsport’s Focus RS. How do you make your demo car stand out from the hundreds of others at the event? WRC spec bonnet, spoiler, lamp pods and roof scoop along with a crazy wrap and blue and pink wheels…
Ford Fair 2013: Classics & Retro
23rd March 2014
There's a schools of thought who say that you shouldn't mess with a classic. This doesn't seem to be adhered to much in the world of retro Fords though. Out of all the cars pictured below, not a single one is standard, except perhaps the concours Mk1 Twin Cam, although I'm not convinced those Cibies are OEM!
Classic shapes will always be loved, but the power plants of the 60s and 70s, perhaps not. This was clearly demonstrated in the number…
The Focus Wedding
4th December 2013
Traditionally getting married has been all about the bride, but who says the groom can't have a little something for the special day? This was exactly the question Rob asked, already having the answer in mind.
As a car fan and Focus RS owner the plan practically formed itself and being a member on FocusRSOC.com that was the ideal place to ask for help. The idea was to have five white Focus RSs to act as transport on the big day.…
Ford Fair 2013: Track Traffic
14th November 2013
Most people would consider Ford Fair a show, some owners however, see it as just a busy track day with considerably more spectators than usual. They aren't interested in shiny cars or ear splitting ICE installs, just laying down rubber around Silverstone and trying to burn off as much V-Power as possible per session.
You can spot these folk a mile off, their car will not have been cleaned prior to the event. To them wax is something stuck to…
Ford Fair 2013: Cosworth
29th October 2013
If there's one thing you can count on with the Cosworths it's variety - concourse and standard, track spec, street racer - anything that can be done with them has. No Ford Fair Cosworth gallery would be complete without a couple of photos that on first glance would appear to have been included by mistake. Wenny's Mk3 Escort here being a perfect example. Scroll down to the engine bay pic though and all becomes clear. Where the original Cosworth that…
The Fords Of Trax 2013
6th October 2013
We've seen the Fiestas present at Trax so now it's time to take a look at the other Fords. As mentioned the turn out was really good. A wide variety on display from Mk2 Escorts to the latest Fiesta ST.
In the Ford Fair Focus gallery I remarked that the “BA57ORD” Focus RS500 seemed to be a different colour at each show, and now it's changed from pearl white to a photography-proof shade of orange. Who can afford to get their…
The Fiestas Of Trax 2013
19th September 2013
Trax is normally quite a quiet show for Fords, however this year was different. I'm not sure what caused it but there seemed to be a lot more present than last year. Enough to split the galleries in two and dedicate this one just to the Fiesta.
Car of the show for me was the Fiesta WRC so it was a shame that it was just sat in a tent all day rather than being given some exercise round the track…
Ford Fair 2013: Focus Pocus
1st September 2013
Last year I wrote about what I called a "quantity dilution" effect of so many Focus RSs being in one place making them less impactful. 12 months later I find myself the owner of an FRS but still of the same opinion, so you won't find any photos of my near standard car below. What you will see is the best examples Ford Fair had to offer. As you might expect, my interest in the Focus has been magnified infinitely,…
Black Clouds & Boost
1st September 2013
We've done this a few times now and it's always been great to meet up with friends and burn off half a tank or so of V-Power and with this being the last run of the year there was no deviation from a winning format. As usual everyone converged on BD Performance but before departing it was decided a group shot would be in order. Cue your truly climbing up a ladder, camera in hand, onto a shipping container and…
Ford Fair 2013: Fat Fiestas
26th August 2013
The Fiesta is the reason this site exists, and despite expansion towards other models Ford's supermini is where the roots are firmly embedded. For a while the Fiesta had little love from Ford when it came to performance but the 2013 ST looks to change all that. When Ford make potency the tuners pounce, and the "CP220" sticker on the back of Collins' ST demo car should hint at the power already being extracted from this engine.
One of the benefits…
Ford Fair 2013: Diversity
15th August 2013
The greatest day in the Ford fan’s calendar has finally been delivered and it was in every way as good as expected. The weather held out, the cars were top notch and the crowds were as big as ever.
Last year was the first time in seven years that I had attended but as a Renault owner I had to remain in the car park. Now as a very happy Mk2 Focus RS driver I was able to bring my car…
Third Time Unlucky
12th August 2013
Number three of the North Wales Ford owners meets and the now established format and running order proved a success again. The route this time took in the Evo Triangle - some of the best driving roads in North Wales, if not the UK.
En route we stopped again at the Horseshoe Pass then later on at the Rhug farm shop in Corwen for food. Suitably refuelled we continued on to the Triangle and after a short pause to regroup headed…
Fords, Friends & Fun Roads
7th July 2013
The second meet up and run out of the North Wales Ford owners took place on the final Sunday of June. Once again organised by Bobbie from the Focus RS Owners Club the meeting started at BD Performance, an RS and ST specialist based in Wrexham. The turn out was much improved over last month - I counted 21 cars at one point. As with last month most were Focus RS and ST although we did get a couple of…
Blue Sky & Boost
25th May 2013
As a relatively new Focus RS owner I've been spending a a lot of time on the Focus RS Owner's club forums and whilst there I spotted a topic organising a drive out into North Wales. Being local and with a free Saturday I decided to tag along.
The initial meeting place was Delamere Forest with the next stop at the Ponderosa Cafe at the top of the Horseshoe Pass which is where I joined them. Due to short…
Winter Sun & Track
17th December 2012
When we heard that the Track Division of the West Of Scotland RSOC were coming down to Oulton Park with the Fiesta Evo (literally) in tow we knew we had to be there. A full feature of that car is to follow, but for now here's what we found at The Park on a glorious sun-kissed Winter Saturday in…
Ford Fair 2012: Track Action

When it comes to cars laying down laps of Silverstone, my observations led to conclude that there seems to be an inverse scale at work - the more enjoyable for the drivers, the less spectacular the viewing for everyone else.
Watching people swap paint whilst simultaneously burning off a grand's worth of rubber and then crawl back to the pits on bare rims ranks quite highly on the excitement scale, but as a pro drifter or touring car driver the huge…
Ford Fair 2012: The Wait
4th October 2012
There’s a moment in time, a period where everything is set and all you can do is wait. Maybe you’re meeting someone for a first date. Perhaps you’re outside an interview room, or you might be about to take your pride and joy onto one of the most famous racing circuits in the world.
Whichever of these situations you find yourself in, the feeling is identical - you’ve done all you can to get this far, now it’s down to part…
Ford Fair 2012: Old's Cool
26th September 2012
There's an old saying that goes "Old Fords don't die, they just get faster". As time goes on and old Fords get older this seems to get more and more true.
To my mind there's just something so perfect about the marriage of that classic body shape and modern technology. It's the best of both worlds.
Not all the retro Escorts at Ford Fair were track monsters though. Some owners have their own views on how such aged machinery should be treated.…
Ford Fair 2012: Cosworth
19th September 2012
Cosworth has always been a name synonymous with the fastest of the fast Fords. Even though there hasn't been one produced for over 15 years they are still hugely relevant, no doubt down to the fact that no other Ford has been a worthy successor. The Mk2 Focus RS is getting increasingly close in terms of power outputs but the lack of rear wheel drive or 4x4 and the absence of true motorsport heritage has left a sizeable portion of…
Trax 2012 - Beyond The Blue Oval
12th September 2012
TRAX is I guess what you might call a sister show to Ford Fair. It's organised by the same company - Future Publishing, and takes place at the same location - Silverstone.
Driving down the same route and parking in the same car park, my sense of déjà vu only persisted until I got over the first bridge to be greeted by a sea of different makes.
We've already covered the important bit - the Fords, so let's take a…
The Fords Of Trax 2012
10th September 2012
Trax has always been a bit of quiet show for Fords, as the cars on display tend to be ones seen a couple of weeks earlier at Ford Fair. Having said that, there were a couple that either weren't present at FF, or I missed, such as the JWRC kitted black Mk6.
The main reason for attending Trax is the sheer variety of machinery on display from all the different marques. We'll be taking a look at the goings on in…
Ford Fair 2012: Focus On Focus
6th September 2012
The Fiesta's bigger brother - the Focus - has proven to be a sure fire hit with Ford fans. Judging from the count at Ford Fair I'd say they are almost as popular as the Fiesta. The Focus being Ford's favourite son gets RS and turbocharged ST models, but the Fiesta gets to play WRC now which we can only hope leads to something more special than the recently announced Fiesta ST.
For a road car the Mk2 Focus RS is…

Ford Fair 2012 - Part 1: I Am Ford
18th August 2012
Brand loyalty is a strange thing. Sometimes it is passed down through generations, sometimes formed at an early age or maybe just forged from the positive experience of a product. It creates tension and rivalry, causes us to blindly overlook faults and incites defensiveness when we are challenged to validate our decisions. These downsides however, pale into insignificance when it comes to the passion, time and dedication to a marque displayed by true fans.
Ford Fair is brand passion exemplified. Hundreds…
