The Fords Of Tunerfest North 2022

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but the sun can certainly cook the same place twice. Last year I remarked how lucky it was that Tunerfest North coincided with a week long heatwave. Fast forward a year and the weather situation was also favourable, with near identical 27°c temperatures by mid afternoon. Mercifully the show being on Saturday was spared the even warmer digits predicted in the next couple of days.
This year the paddock was open to the public, so we were able to see the Time Attack cars. Sadly just a single Escort representing the blue oval, and no Fords in the accompanying TCR UK or MSUK Drift Pro Championships.
There weren’t really any outstanding cars, but a couple of things of interest - the Volvo wheels on the Focus ST. It hadn’t occurred to me that these would fit, but given there’s a large amount of Volvo parts on them it makes sense. The WRC spoiler on the ST and RS in combination with the RS spoiler isn’t really a good look. Some might argue that the WRC alone is too much. I don’t agree, but it does need room to breath visually which it doesn’t have here. The narrow arches of the ST don’t really complement such an outlandish item either - too much vertical, not enough horizontal.
