TRAX Takes All Sorts

Not a Police Vehicle
Many of us view cars as a blank canvas to display our originality and taste. This leads to all kind of strange creations. Here are a few examples which caught my attention at TRAX this year.
Starting off with this “Not a” Police car. I’m pretty sure that the boys in blue would take a dim view, regardless of the apparent (but barely visible) disclaimer!

Drift Lock
Purpose built Drift cars like this S15 often have crazy amounts of steering lock. Must be handy when parallel parking on a busy high street.

High Chair
Corbeau Seats had this amusing oversize seat on their stand. It looked to be constructed from the exact same materials as the regular production seats.

Cool Hot Food Truck
As I approached this VW splitty food truck I began to think how much bigger the old buses were than I remembered. It took me a moment to twig that this isn’t actually one of them, but some kind of large van chassis with a custom made body about a third bigger than the VW original.

ICE Clio
The Clio 200 is a critically acclaimed hot hatch known for its sublime handling, mid corner adjustably and track ability. One if its only negatives perhaps being slightly underpowered.
It seems crazy then to take such a capable car and weigh it down with amps and subs. Unless the whole thing can be temporarily disconnected and removed perhaps?

Cars made with cars
This guy here is Ian Cook from PopbangColour. He creates paintings of cars using toy cars as brushes. Quite unique!

Chevy Dually
If you’re after an economical (6.6 litre) and practical (6 metres long, 2.5 metres wide) vehicle for UK towns and country roads then the dual rear wheel crew cab Chevrolet Silverado should be top of your list!

Skoda Felicia
A shark mouthed, intentionally rusted, hi-viz Skoda with a hay bale on the roof. Plus 4 point harnesses just to tie the whole theme together.

Give me a hand with this bonnet
Remember the hydraulic bonnet lifters that were all the rage a few years ago? Not any more. It’s all prosthetics and Halloween props these days!

R5 GTT Engine
Once one of the most popular modified cars, you don’t see many Renault 5 Turbos these days. This one had a clean and tasty looking engine.

It also had the same thing in the back. Sadly we didn’t get to see it out on track.

People were queueing up to have a go on these drift trikes. They have pedals but also a small engine too. Looked fun!

Lotus Elite
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a modified one of these before. The wheel choice is excellent - period correct looks with a nice size bump.

These guys were singing a cover of TLC’s “No Scrubs”, curiously without changing the gender of the scrub in the lyric which gave the whole thing a slightly odd twist.

Recipe for a feature car, 2015
Most of the cars on the Fast Car stand had been done to the same recipe - air suspension, flush stance, smoothed bodywork and a quirky numberplate. All very clean and nicely produced but not much in the way of originality.

Austin A35
Another unique vehicle, this 1950s Austin had been given a few modern touches and a sizeable drop.
I’m pretty sure the sideways warning is due to the sketchy handling from 60 year old suspension and steering components, and not due to anything potent that will light up the rear tyres.
