Traditionally getting married has been all about the bride, but who says the groom can’t have a little something for the special day? 

This was exactly the question Ford nut Rob asked, already having the answer in mind.

As a Focus RS owner the plan practically formed itself and being a member on FocusRSOC.com that was the ideal place to ask for help. 

The idea was to have five white Focus RSs to act as transport on the big day. These would be for the best man and Rob’s mates, while Rob and bride Anna would have the somewhat more luxurious pleasure of the Rolls Royce Phantom.

Offers of assistance soon came flooding in and despite a few people having to drop out Rob still managed to assemble not just five, but seven white RSs in addition to his own green one, which would be driven by his friend Beck.

Rob asked if I would help out by getting some shots of the cars. I was more than happy to help out so whilst his wedding photographer concentrated on what she shot best, I shot what I shoot best.

After leaving the church in Wrexham, the formation made their way to Soughton Hall Hotel near Mold in Flintshire, where I was waiting with cameras in hand. 

Beck’s excitable Facebook posts made clear her enthusiasm at the opportunity to drive Rob’s car, but excitement clearly gave way to intense concentration at heading up the RS procession.

The first white RS was Pete and wife Sarah-Jane.

Closely followed by Jay, Shaun & Joanne and Neil.

Due to the scourge of convoy driving - traffic lights - the final three RSs were detached from the group and arrived a few minutes later.

Lead by Darryl with Reece and Hannah behind.

Hannah is from BD Performance in Wrexham, hence the BD number plate.

With all the cars there it was time to position them and whip out the tripod for the glamour shots.

As I clicked away we could see and hear the wedding party in full swing on the other side of the gates and sometime the angles I chose…

…allowed the bride or other members of the ensemble to be framed neatly between the car and the gates.

By this time the light was slowly fading, which wasn’t a problem as I was using a tripod, but the slow shutter speeds made for some interesting ghosts in the background.

The low sun did look great on the hotel in the background and made for a nice contrast to the white cars, although with all the people there it made for something of a strange experience…

…and a load of photos which would appear somewhat strange unless you knew the story behind them.

Almost as if someone was taking pics of the cars unaware as to what was going on in the background.

The juxtaposition of this beautiful building dating back to 1714 and Darryl’s perfectly stanced, loud and aggressive FRS make this one of my favourite shots of the day.

Now here’s a Bride & Groom shot with the right priorities.

Rob and Anna in the background are posing for their wedding ‘tog, who is behind the car. I’m sure that shot turned out great but I’d love it  if this photo was the one Rob had framed on his mantelpiece!

The sun was getting very low now and I grabbed this one of Neil’s rear before…

…moving to the front of the car to capture the sunset as best I could.

We then lined the seven RSs up on the driveway in front of the hotel for the group shots.

One last shot before everyone made their way back home.
