Excursion :~nomad~ :good times - back on topic, pretty interested in this, if it can be made to fit. How do you think it will compare with jenveys in a NA setting Mark?
I don't see why this wouldn't be just as good, if not better. It should be as good as the massively expensive Jenvey set up with the alloy plenum.
The ports are close enough to get a decent match after a little welding and re-shaping. mMy main concern is packaging, it may be Ok for you with the Silvertop, though!
my Ka will be blacktop thou mate.

Ahh, I was thinking about the blue Mk3. In that case I'll let you know as soon as I've done a test fit on my black top.

No, they don't have the range of colours I needed. Any wiring I do must be maintainable in the future, so I follow the correct wiring standards for that particular MY.
http://www.autosparks.co.uk have a great range, although sadly most of the colours are in 1mm. A lot of the stuff I needed could have been 0.35 or 0.5.

Jony, Heated seats are a Waeco kit, but I've used Ford switches. The Mk5 had a heated seat option (I've never seen one) so I've used the OEM wire colours and fuse locations etc.
Just won this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0526555468
Bit of a bargain, brand new Mk5 Airbag loom with pas airbag.

Yeah - that was always the plan, that's why I'm using the Puma dash mate, so I can have HFS AND Aircon

Just had a thought about this - I thought in the newer Ford's the heated mirrors and washers were activated by the heated front screen. I might be wrong though.
Additional boot light is a good plan - did this myself in the MK5, works a treat.

I must admit, wiring from the HFS makes more sense. In the Mk5 however they are run from the rear screen and I'm trying to keep everything standard, so it's easy to work on the loom later on, using Ford diagrams.

Re: MWSTEWART | Si project - ITBs 03/11
I will have a big update this weekend
I've just collected a brand new Mk5 heated front screen, top mounts, engine gaskets etc. which will ensure I have a busy Christmas break. I'm fitting a complete set of brand new lights to the car although the Ford headlights are a rip off, even with my discount. I also picked up a full set of mk5 seals and mk3 weather strips.

The mk5 screen does fit, iirc there are several improvements including tint along top of the screen

Yes it has a ceramic coated edge as it was designed to be bonded in, which is exactly what I'm doing (along with fitting the Mk5 dashboard) to improve handling & reduce scuttle shake.

jonyb4 ::oooh:fancy, will look nice bonded in, dont think ive seen a windscreen bonded in before though,
hows the handling effected?
All Mk4 and Mk5 front screens are bonded. A bonded windscreen becomes part of the body structure and stiffens the front area by a surprising amount. The dashboard cross-brace on the Mk5 is also structural, and together, the two modifications will remove the scuttle shake that the Mk3 is prone to. This all lets the suspension get on with what it was designed to do.

Can you do a bit of a write up on fitting the mk5 screen? I'l be replacing my screen very soon!

It's identical mate, if you are using the mk3 rubber.
If you are bonding in then you have two options:
1) buy something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDSCREEN-GLASS- ... 5634064cc4 and have a go yourself - it's pretty easy, essentially the same as sticking on side skirts. Make sure the kit you buy has primer.
2) Have a windscreen fitter to come do it for cash, it will cost around £40 for a cash job.

Will be going for the bonded option! Will a second hand screen be easy enough to remove at a scrappy? Wont be needing a heated version.

Yeah, it's easy enough. There are many tools but IMO the best are the wire-based kits: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wire-Bonded-Winds ... 43a0d1218b

genious mark
little tip for the underglow lighting, take a look at the mk7 fiesta Zetec model, it has soft red under glow from certain compartments like the roof, gearstick surround pocket and footwells
you could either use some hefty led's or go for what i would some cold cathodes, but they are a bit trickier to fit as theyre rigid, but come in a few different sizes, i used to get them off ebuyer.com
sa for the bonded mk5 screen, dont they still have window rubber seals?, least my mk4 did
