Cheers for the comments peeps.

Ghost - yeah, I agree with you. This is the kind of project I was working on years ago: it's nothing new or particularly exciting. I shouldn't have let it get this out of hand

I already had 5l of Lacquer, so it made sense. As it had been so long since the last base coat, it all needed doing again.

Anything else like this in the future will go straight back to a bodyshop, the amount of my time and effort involved was considerable, then there is the cost of the paint if you haven't got your own mixing scheme.

It all makes the bodyshop prices start to look reasonable.

Postby Excursion on Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:58 am

I have bought a Focus RS Mk1 inlet manifold and some brand new injectors. This obviously is a bolt on solution for the Zetec, so I'm going to use this initially whilst I take some time to sort out the Pulsar inlet.
frs1.jpg
frs2.jpg

If I stay this route, then the Ford Racing manifold becomes an option.
FR_Inlet_1.JPG

I could do with a spare 1.8/2.0 head to help mock up the Pulsar inlet. Anyone got one?

Ahh, I thought I recognised your username from Focaljet :D

What engine and gearbox did you have? Where did it foul?

I'm using a Black Top and ST170 gearbox with all the Focus mounts, which means the engine is titled forward a few degrees like the black top should be. When using a Fiesta gearbox, it isn't, and space at the rear is limited, so I've got a bit extra to play with...but the Ford Racing plenum does look massive!

i have the silver top engine with a focus rs box ,the engine and box have been spaced forward 1cm and i still had no luck. :( .it was only fouling right at the bottom of the manifold i could of cut about 5mm off and re-weld it,but i didnt want to mess with the manifold.

since your engine has been titled forward there is a good chance it will fit. :D you can also get a pedal box and do away with the servo (what i was thinking, but not practical for everyday driving or road use).

the ford racing inlets have had alot of R&D and is probably the best manifold for the zetec turbos,im just gutted i could fit one :(

You're right, it's the early Focus inlet (moulded, not bonded) but with FRS specific brackets for the injector rail and something else below the ISCV, what looks to be a US TB, and the FRS top section.

I'd be surprised mate, the Ford Racing manifold looks a bit bigger, I know the internal ports are larger.

Unless you're using an OE loom, I'd suggest running an independently fused feed and drive a relay from the switch directly.
Nothing to see here...

I'm hearing that the new GTX Turbos from Garrett are blowing the GTR Turbos into the water http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobyga ... rgers.html

Given that GTR Turbos make the old T series look seriously outdated, this is a big step yet again; look how they outperform a GTR: http://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/i ... verlap.jpg Incredible!

ATP now stock the GTX3071R http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... y_Code=GTX which is too big for what I need. I hope Garrett or at least ATP will move the technology to some of the small frame GT28 series, as this will give me scope for well over 400 without the response compromise I'd usually have to take in order to support it.

yeah i have been reading up on these too, they look mega and they dont cost that much more than the GTR turbos. i havent seen one in the flesh yet or witnessed one work, but im sure they will be a big hit with the big litre turbos(mostly japs).
i was wondering why there isnt a GTX2871r? it should see 450 easy.
