Something silly

In all seriousness I'd be happy with 350, but I'm so pleased with the shell that I'm now going for something a bit more in all areas.

I did some research into diemsions/specifications of various OEM fitment four pot calipers from different brands, knowing that the obvious choices are just blatantly over priced. I setteld on the MGTF Trophy/T160 AP Racing calipers:

MO_TU_BR_AP4potcalip_02.jpg

The MG area will be milled flat, the calipers resprayed in gloss black with the standard yellow AP Racing decals i.e.:

sorry for the spamming :(

you could probably get them discs to fit if you filed the stud holes out by a tad to allow for 108pcd over the 100pcd :Q

Similar in that both are four pot calipers. They are Brembo, these are AP Racing.

Here's the auction I won: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

My choice was based on the data which I collected:

MGTF
PCD: 4x98.5 mm
Wheel Centre bore: 56.6 mm
Caliper lug spacing: 82.55 mm
Disc size: 304 mm

Fiesta
PCD: 4×108 mm
Wheel Centre bore: 63.4 mm
Caliper lug spacing: 82.55 mm

I plan to use the calipers with ST170 discs. The loss of 2mm on each side of the disc is offset by a ridge on the MG pads. If the ST170 discs don't suit the caliper offset then I will have the centre bores on the MG discs enlarged and the holes milled to suit the Ford PCD.

The Calipers should be a bolt on solution, if not they will be modified to suit. Two piece discs will be added later. All in, I've saved at least £1200 off an AP kit.

awsome auction that, love it when a great steal pops up, recently had sim ilar luck with a Boss audio dvd player, rrp at £109 i won a brand new one for £62 :Q

anywho thats bloody cheap mark!

impressed how you found out the stud spacing, hopefully should bolt right on, if so, i think you have deffo on to starting a trend, might even look into it myserlf if it works out, need 16" wheels first though

or you think the calipers will fit snug under 15s? them four pots usually are less bulky than ford single pots

awsome!

any reason for the Mo6 over the Mo5?

ive always thought the 6 looks best on bigger cars when theyre bigger wheels, vice versa for the 5s

Ive got Mo 5's one mine with 205/40/16's, 7" ET35. They clear the arches but mine are rolled and i dont think they would if they still had the lip. What suspension will you be running as i needed 5mm spacers with gaz coilovers?

Hmm OK, cheers. I'll stick with the 195's then and a 6.5" rim.

Suspension is at the moment Mk5 Zetec-S GMAX.

Today I have been in dialogue with Compotive, and the wheels I want are either the MO1673 (7x16) or the MO1666 (6.5x16)

I don't want 17's, mate. I don't even really want 16's TBH, but I've taken the compromise so I can upgrade the brakes later on.

is that with or without tyres? im guessing without?

gotta say, your lucky to find a set of wheels where you like in the width your looking for on a 16, all the wheels i like (which isnt many) tend to be 17's or bigger, and when you do find a 16, there 7 or 7.5 wide, which i dont want

It is without tyres mate. I found the same as you - most were 7" minimum and probably like you I also don't want the extra weight and the hassle of scrubbing on bodywork etc.

the scrubbing is a issure with me, my wheels are 7x15, which was never a problem, but with the rear discs, its pushed the wheels further towards the arch and they only just catch when loaded up, so some thinner hweels, coupled with some skimming of certain things on the rear disc conversion should bring it in enough to clear without problems.
6 inch would be better but i cant say ive come across any that thin on a 16 before
