TODAY...
started taking the engine out...
bonnet relegated to the roof for now...
removed intercooler, rad and fan (for sale if any one is intersted) for more access to the engine
rocker cover and cross over pipe off...
then put them back on once head bolts were loose....
head completely off and in the air...
you are probably wondering why the hell i'm taking the engine apart, well my bro's series 1 has had one of the piston rings go, so as i've had a complete bottom end rebuild - new everything, 12K ago- its easy to swap bottom ends on his.... then i can get in the garage....
so i have my engine for sale, it will come with the series 1 bottom end instead of mine.... let me know if your interested...
engine bay, minus head
all out - you can just see the block on the floor
block and box (number 2)
all seperated....
depressing site... but well on the way now
empty engine bay
s**t picture, but my engine is to the left the 2 gearbox's i have are in the middle and behind them are the head, inlet, turbo and manifold and all the other bits i've taken off...
lots done today, now gotta build up my bottom end with series 1 bits and bobs...... hope you like

the block doesn't matter to me anymore
after a small deep chat i know understand that you have to remember its not nessecarly the actual block that makes the difference its the balancing that really matters!
you could build that engine up and still put a rod through it if not balanced correct so maybe going for a block like that is not nessecary.....

I've heard bad things about the CGI blocks, such as there being a load of reject ones floating about with such minor imperfections you can't tell just by looking.
How much truth there in this I don't know.
I'd agree with Adamski 100%, other stuff matters more and if the standard block is good for 500bhp+ then next to no-one actually needs one of these.
AdamB, save your cash and spend it on pistons and rods and a proper build.

hi mate
looking good so far
just wondered if you could tell me
is the reat strut brace the 38mm, 51mm or 64mm diameter one
and the cage is it the standard one they do (main hoop/frame, frame-to-wheel arch braces, and diagonal cross-brace.) or is it with additional cross brace
cheers mate
