one question about the blacktop that no one has been able to answer me,
are the bolt holes for things like water pump, oil pump, rear engine mount and front alernator/pas bracket all in the same place as the silver top?

bolt holes for water pump are different, as you can see in my pictures i've had my block machined to accept an rs1800 (silver top) water pump, i'm doing this simply because the black top water pump runs in the wrong direction, and needs to run in the opposite direction on a turbo charged car, hense the change.

I'm using the same oil pump..

rear engine mount is different on the black top. where the engine mounts (on rear of silver top) is where the alternator and bracket is, on silver top the alternator is at the front this is where the the engine mounts from on a black top. hope that makes sense.. these have to be swapped around, mount from the rear (where alternator is) and alternator goes where it would mount at the front... not sure about power steering yet, this is something i wanna look into having big wheels on my motor :)

heeman10 :What happened? :(

evening batman, see the football, ooh no your a homo, you dont like football do you

i got sandwich on a dual carriage way in slow moving traffic... i was stationary, heard some screaching, looked in my rear view mirror and saw an escort van skidding towards me :aaah: :aaah: :oooh: just braces myself and waited for him to hit me, he did and pushed me into a brand new mondeo infront.. car is a "write off" its a mk3 fiesta lx 1.3 HCS M reg, if anyone's after any bits... black interior, power steering, spare glass of which it has a heated screen - not wired in tho, the engine is sound, covered 50k, was my dad's aunts...

No, I did NOT see the gayball!! I see we scored more than some third world country, all those millions of pounds clearly went to good use! They finally got the one-foot ball through the 100 square foot rectangle at the end of the field! Twice! :o Clearly skillful men to be proud of

Sounds nasty, glad it wasn't a more valuable car and you're alright :)

u got any pics to expalin all these different holes?
as long as i can get the engine on the mount at the rear, and the big bracket that holds the alternator and pas and front mount to bolt on the front, i'll be happy... i know for different cars and different modles they normally mount in different places, but u noramlly find the holes are the same, its just the mounts, or the way they mount that is different...

the alternator bolt holes pattern is exactly the same as the front mounts pattern... no pictures needed, you will need to modify the alterantor bracket to clear the water pump housing (if your using the black top pump??) if not its well clear for using a silver top water pump..

i wont let on too much but the rear mount hole pattern for a silver top has a different pattern for where the alternator (black top) mounts.. so i'll let you work out what to do...

er... dunno mate.. £40 - its never been wired in, think my dads aunt got it put in cos they didnt have any normal screens.... :D

Postby fiestamodder123 on Mon Jul 03, 2006 7:40 pm

Just had a look through your post ,was wondering about your windscreen?

Did you have to bond it in ?
Does it go straight in or does it need to be trimmed ?
doesd it go in as per the original?

as stated in the title, i have an injury, which for the last 2 months has been doing my head in...

was in a car crash in may, got sandwiched between 2 cars...

my car got wrote off, and i've had a bad back ever since...

in the process of doing some exercise everyday to work my back and make it stronger again...

hopefully not gonna be a long term thing, not rushing things as i wanna be 100% fit, strong and healthy before i attempt to get back to work, i could quite easily do more damage if i went back tot work :oooh: :aaah: :(

might have an update on my new, lets say everyday vehicle very soon...

cheers

rich :)

yeah i know mate... thats what i'm finding out now...

the spinal specialist i saw recommended swimming, cycling and some walking... been swimming everyday for the last 2 weeks, bought a new bike, and done a little walking... done some cycling, but felt worse after that... so just swimming..

my physio has given me an exercise routine to do in the pool..

my bills that i've been collecting so far are mounting up, scary how much stuff costs and adds up too, MRI scan, consultations with a spinal specialist, physio, swimming... the list goes on :)

just hope i'm not off work for ages... :-?

As soon as you wrote "cycling" I thought "No!!". Not a good idea really, puts too much strain on the back in too many places if it's already fragile, stick with swimming - no shocks, no sudden movements, just fluid, lightly-loaded exercise :)

Whay money for fuel or money for the truck itself?

If you need a taxi ride down I'm sure I can come pick you up and get it sorted well untill you could hack the ride of a 4x4!
