russ-RST :lovin the progress on this :) engine bay has come up well for wht I assume was a rattle can job? will be watching this very closely as I'm very much considering ditching the CVH in for a full zetec , iv found the frascatti shel seems to have all the holes where needed everywhere Just might not have the thread in them which is bloody handy  also not meaning to be rude but changing all your manifould down pipe and turbo just for 5-10mm of persuasion on the front panel seems a bit of a mess about to me, look at te vauxhall boys when it comes to getting xe's and lets in there shells plenty of them have to massage the chassis leg/engine bay for clearence  iv got to admit tho mark that picture u have posts further up^^ you have alot I clearence there! iv just fitte a t3 to my CVH just now as iv got no where near that amount of space lol and iv mounts the rad exactly the same way you mentioned, over the lip on the cross member at the bottom and its helped endlessly, still not much room down there mind you  looking forward to more progress :)

ps. how comes you went for the adapter plate rather than re drilling the head? or just weld a zetec flange on the CVH manifould? just ditching that adapter plate would solve your hassles with the Down pipe and more clearence

just to add I'm not picking at anyone's ideas etc. nor am I trying to cause an argument just asking as I am very Interested in doin this to my frascatti

russ

Saab exhaust housing helps no end. It's really worth finding one if possible :)

Russ, at the time of purchasing the adapter plate it seemed to be a tried and tested idea. I've read a few people saying to avoid drilling and tapping the head. I'm not a fan of the adapter plate if I'm honest, it just seemed a good idea at the time, not anymore! Combining that dodgy plate (which is quite dodgy when you see the pics) with the misfitting exhaust, radiator clearance etc, it's probably a much better job just to fit the Focus setup. I know other setups are available and will do the job fine if not better etc but the Focus parts are reasonably priced and for some strange reason, quite easy to get hold of *touch wood!*

So, because of that, that's why I don't really want to bodge the chassis. It's a good chassis and I don't want to damage that just to fit a dodgy turbo setup  No offence or anything taken, I see where you're coming from :)

Oh, and yes the paint on the front suspension turrets was done with rattle cans! I seem to have found the knack with them if they don't react.

Mark, as I've not yet bought the Focus bits, I'll have a few minutes looking at the Saab housing and see if it changes my mind (again). Which models am I looking for? Or are all petrol Saab turbo housings the same?

Here are a couple:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-900-8-VA ... 3ccbce5e00

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-900-Clas ... 20ceebbd6c

Maybe the seller has a downpipe too.

I used the entire Turbo as it has a .38 housing instead of the usual .36 on the ERST, so it suits the larger Zetec a little better.

ECU, loom, Map sensor, boost solenoid and a couple of connectors. Didn't bother with the map switch after your advice :)

tbh, it was fairly cheap and in good condition too. Taking out the cost of all the add-on bits (fancy manifold, Forge actuator, Miltek downpipe, lambda, oil hoses), the price wasn't "that" much more than what I sold the T3 for.

Razer :nice tweek, hope to see it on fitp :D

Cheers :D

Ry, The oil feed hose is a normal braided female ended one, one end has a male to male reducer for the block/T-piece, the other end is left female which goes to an oil restrictor then screws into the turbo, very similar to the T3 pipework.

Well, that new turbo I was excited about is no good, it's a worse fitment than the old T3  More on that later.

Progress news first though. Test fitted the intercooler today and spent a while chopping up the front pannel and the front bumper. Everything's still rough but it fits which is the main thing. Some pics:

2 holes cut out for the boost pipes if you can spot them.

And how it looks after removing a carrier bag's worth of foam from the bumper:

Back to the turbo... This one fouls the bonnet catch support, (so it's even further forward). The downpipe fouls the chassis, again, and also the inner CV joint.

That turbo might be ok with a standard mk1 frs ex manifold. That one is a 200sx manifold with a zetec flange welded on

Tell me about it! I sold the old T3 for what I paid for it so no big deal there, this one will either be snapped up fast or not go at all I fear. I keep looking at engine bays with the original OEM Focus RS manifold and standard turbo etc. It looks smaller and more compact etc. but I don't know if it actually is, or whether it's an illusion because tubular manifolds are "fat."

This recent setup, now I've studied it better is a little clumsy. It's a Nissan 200SX turbo and housing, an unknown tubular manifold with a zetec flange on it. Then the downpipe is a Miltek FRS item but with the 200SX exhaust housing flange welded on. None of it looks dodgy or anything, just all a bit clumsy for the little Fiesta engine bay I rekon.

Edit, Ryan you just beat me to it!

Looking at the picture again, the 45-degree or so angle the turbo mates on seems to be the reason why the turbo is pushed so far forward. If I fitted it to a FRS manifold the downpipe would be a long way off course :(

Cheers Rob :)

I've got hold of a standard Focus RS exhaust manifold today. This one's getting my hopes up as the turbo flange points down and back towards the engine rather than towards the radiator. Fingers crossed.
