Daveroms FRST Restoration/CVH Engine Rebuild Update 21/6/07
heeman10 :Glad to see it all Dave, loving the Stig-style introduction. I hope he doesn't have webbed buttocks like the StigShould be over at Fusion over Christmas hopefully so we'll have to try to meet up
Yeh i heard that one tonight about the buttocks
Have you any idea who it is? I reckon you will. I wouldn't let any old chive drive it and look after it while i was away
I'll have to tell you first if you end up being chief organiser
If we get chance to meet up i will mate, definitely.
Dave

Anyway back on topic with this now.
Not much has really happened mechanical wise yet due to other things but there has been a change of plans from previous posts.
The beiges have gone as have the plans to use a Hybrid T2.
Firstly the engine will still be "low comp" but these babies will now be used instead of the standard variant.
Replacing the beige jobbies will be a set of nice high flowing 330cc injectors.
Last of all and my favourite bit is this
A GT28R turbo. Oh joy
Power wise, looking to run around the 250 mark initially and then see what happens from there.
Obviously i won't be putting all this stuff together which is where Mr Excursion enters the equation.
This has been specced by him after i revealed my original plans. I've come to realise after being out in his T3 car that T2's are s**t, especially for what you have to pay for them too.
The Turbo Tech Hybrid T2 comes in at £700 which is crazy.
The things i've got done in the past few weeks are refit standard FRST recaros etc but also a flocked dashboard with a few other flocked bits too.
I personally feel the car now looks a lot better for it but you can judge for yourselves when i put pictures up later.
Other things i've done is fit a brand new battery, alternator and starter motor, boost gauge and stick 4 new goodyear eagle F1's on it too.
Also i've carried out the Mk3.5 manual adjustable clutch pedal modification to improve clutch release when using the AP Paddle.
MOT is next week, tax week after then back on road and off to Marks.
I can't comment too much on the engine/turbo build side of things cos thats Marks baby but i'm sure he'll post updates in here as and when he gets time.
The car will be running OFAC management with 20psi boost once complete. Mapping will be carried out by Motorsport Developments in Blackpool.
Cheers
Dave

As if I didn't spend enough on coke as it was, I had to go and build an engine for the Midland's biggest white line monster

Yes it is so here goes.
Some of you might remember me posting a while back that my car came in for some abuse while on a weekend away in wales.
Anyway for those that don't know remember i had a blow out on the right front tyre, some cretin opened their door onto mine and gave me a nice dent and some other f**k face peeled my sticker of my boot
Anyway pics of the dent
It looks pretty bad in the pic imo but not so in real life. Thats actually a brand new door i bought too when i did the resto. Some careless clumsy fuckers around. Dent master will sort that out later.
My new yoko 539
Can't think of too many thinks to say about this tyre other than.........s**t.
Not a patch on the F1's but when you're stuck in newport at 4.40 with an exploded tyre and thats the only thing available you have to take it
Finally my debaged boot, thanks you theiving chive fuckers
Than replaced later
Thats the moaning out of the way
Onto the positives.
Engine build is going to start very very soon. I finally got round to buying the most expensive bit last week. They're a must and really are a tasty bit of equipment. I think they're too nice to put in the engine so i'll probably have a glass box made and place them on the mantle piece at home
My H section steel rods
Only thing left to buy now is the turbo but that can wait till last.
I'll update as and when things happen but its defo going to be sooner rather than later.
Besides the engine work the exterior will be returning to standard apart from the front bumper cut out for the cooler, wheels and brakes. The interior is now back to as was when i bought it 11 year ago apart from a boost gauge and stereo.
I'll take pics of that tomorrow when i can be arsed

James - The tyre is pants. Its narrower than the eagles and it also loses grip, sometimes when setting off and cornering. Mark got giddy over the weekend and i said to him you do realise that ain't an eagle on the front to the response of s**t man no lol. Soon as engine is done its coming off and being converted into a tyre swing.
May well be up for totb too. Is it at York? Might be bringing a friend too yet if thats ok.
Jay - I weren't planning on selling it dude but if i do you have first dibs
Cheers

jayrs :ok dude.![]()
i see they make it in 1 now, but its got to come from germany![]()
f**k germany mate set of c**ts
It really is a simplistic design. Rs accessory over bumper clips to standard Mk3 rear.
If you really want it then i will probably sell. You seem a nice bloke.
No chives are having it though

These are the last pics of me car before it goes all standard(ish) again and the go faster bits fitted.
Standard seats
Standard dash gearknob, steering wheel etc
Engine with standard inlet manifold.
Boost pipes, boost hoses, battery, tray........wonder what might end up sitting there
Finally goodbye to an old friend. Its been a pleasure. My teeny weeny T2.
See for sale post if you'd like to take it off my hands.
Next update will have pics of engine internals. Its pretty clean, oil changes every 2500 miles have obviously kept it in good condition.
The head is clean enough to eat yer dinner off.
Cheers
