Clark i took a fiesta turbo engine out of a turbo cab last week and it's seemed fine with no knocking at all, my mate is debating if to put in his but if you interested i could convince him to sell it.

engine just outside Manchester

Excursion :What good is that crank going to do, mate?

It sounds like you need new pistons...

The plan was to rebuild this engine, get crank regrind and hone block, aquire new pistons at my own pace as my funds allow. Plus i need to still drive this car as a daily driver. So cant take the engine out and sort it :(

turboboy67 :Bad luck fella :(

you not thought about going ZVH ?

:D

I would rather stick needles in my eyes than put a zetec in my car

TIL13R :Not good news clark.... :(

That RST block dont look to healthy either TBH..... as said above not better buying a FRST bottom end and bulid it back up? or go ZVH?? i might have a bottom end for sale soon...

Tiller

pm me a price on the bottom end if u gonna sell it. :)

unless you can perswade your friend to do me a amazing deal on the engine on its own, i wont be able to come up and buy it. Ive just quit my printing job and started up as a trainee electrician so the coming months money is gonna be tight. Pm me the price if you get one chris.

Cheers :)

clark, couldnt you use the engine out of the french rs? just so you can get yours working again, then have the knackered engine sorted to put back in it?

I was thinking along them lines but that would be alot of effort. Remove 2 engines from 2 cars and refit 1 engine to my car to only remove it once more to refit the rebuilt engine. Then refit the french rs with its original engine... if that makes sense

And tbh - the engine in the french rs is in working order but when it comes out we may find other things that need renewing with that also. :(

shame about the engine dude, but you could say its all part of the RS Turbo experiance

the good thing is once you've built up a new stronger CVH you can change them over in a day, loads easyer than some of the modern stuff i'v worked on in the main dealers when i was on the spanners full time

have fun catch you later :aviator:

I've always drove past there so many times wondering if they deal parts, looknig at the big logo on the front lol, do you have to order in what you need or do they have a warehouse etc?

Whats the deal there, never needed new ford parts yet, but will be needing quite a few soon. :)

I just drive around the back and park up (if you can !). Then walk in and to your right is the parts desk. 9 times out of 10 you will have to place a order and in 1 or 2 days your parts will be ready for collection. Your best bet also is to have finis numbers ready to hand or you will be there 45 mins explaining what you need for the fiesta. :)

Ive managed to source a completly reuilt engine from a member on passion ford on sunday.
It was rebuilt by kent performance. Have a invoice totalling upto £689 from the work carried out.

From the invoice :

Forged pistons 0.5 (Low compression) - £320
fardon h steel rods
brand new water pump - £45
brand new oil pump - £89
brand new sump - £90
genuine ford gaskets and seals - £55
Bearings - £90
Std crank regrind
resurface flywheel

After removing the escort head which wasnt torqued down i found this.
Dont know what to think really. Water pump clearly hasnt been replaced as there is loads of limescale all over it inside and out. Block still has crap in water ways.

Havent yet popped off the sump yet. The block has been cleaned and painted very quickly after engine work.
The bores seem very clean and are lubed up with some sort of grease. Engine hasnt been run yet since work was carried out.

Still a bargain for what i got it for.

Knuckles :)

an invoice just shy of £700 for all that?

The pistons and rods should have been alot more than that alone.... you sure you aint missed a digit off?

Thats my point of the pics.

The invoice says new forged 0.5 oversize pistons - £320 but they obviously used by the looks of this.

I need to get the sump off next weekend to check what rods have been used.

The prices i listed above is what the invoice says

No labour is listed as the engine was never collected by the buyer.

long story short ...

Person ordered engine > never paid up when ready > Kent performance sold it to the guy i got it off for a cheaper price to recoup some of the lost earnings > Then was sold onto me 6 months later.

in all honesty mate it dont look like a very good rebuild if it has had one!

Is there any chance that the seller could have pulled a fast one and simply given you his old engine and kept the decent one.
I really hope that isnt the case but i wouldnt hold much hope from seeing those pistons and also the lime scale etc, and with the very no descript recipt with a very dubious amount on!

From first looks those pistons really dont look new at all. I'm no expert by any means but I would get that engine into bits and have a good look over it before you do anything else and perhaps if needs be give the seller a call and ask him a little more about it's history.

I really hope this turns out well for you. As you havn't had the best of luck recently.

Since rain halted play today i got cleaning as i aint touched it for ages.
My thermo stat has been playing up so i just removed it. Wired up the Fan to come on as normal now too so no need to manualy switch it on every time.

Im on the look out for a new hose to connect the air filter to the T3. My T3 doesnt chatter at all and want to locate the filter just above the horn mounting bracket.

I miss my chatter
