MAD_Adamski :the inlet lobes should all be the same lift, as should the exhaust, from here they look different.
heres a old post of a totally fcuked one i had, yours dones not look that bad but the No 2 lobes look worn.
what is the make and model of this cam i got?

as i said on the phone the other week i ripped the cam spec off the box and put it in the ford booklet with all the other recipts its been over 4 yrs i cant remember

no its still there so carnt give it any yet! its quitened down abit but still hear it loud i brought some wynn's lifter stuff spost to clean and quite it down... £8.99 halfords only done 15 mil with that stuff in though.. is 10 psi bad? tick over? ive done 155 miles too below 3k revs u reckon it shoulda stopped by now?

yes is a newman but as piper do they did about 5 specs, going on me just looking on the web site i think i would have gone for the PH2 cam its not on my thread i looked 2 weeks ago.

no member that mercanic tossed them before i got chance look at them, then he said he will get them bck of bck wagon when take it bck but didnt take it bck to him. btw it is still tappin some even though it has gone slighty quiter. is this normal?

if you have done all this work m8 to the top off the head and bottom m8 then your going to have to think about ripping the engine apart and looking see if theres any piston slap and checking the valves its the only way your going to find out as i cannot see how the lifters would still be noisy has to be an underlying problem inside the engine m8

i have to agree head off i think... check the valves/guides ports check to see if theres been contact. it could be the bottom end making the noise. trial and error.

i will leave it awile bit more as i will just take it bck to him, cause he said when i rang him take it bck in couple 100 miles if still tappin. if i take the head off id have to resort the cam kit etc? u carnt just wack the cam in and lifters can ur? has to be timed right etc? if it was easy id do it all myself.... if the valves has gone is this a exspensive part to replace and do? if the valves had gone wouldnt it leak oil in exhaust? maybe i should of demanded my money back cause all this started after the day i drove it bck when i brought it and after i drove bck i didnt drive it till next day when i hurd it. he was puttin 15w50 in to the engine too.

and m8 piston slap will make it sound like its coming from the lifters the nosie can travel through the top of the head to be honest m8 yo uhave spent alot on it and tbf i think your best having a go yourself rip the head off and have a look atthe valves and pistons take the head off put some water in each bore and if it goes down then you have found your problem same goes for the cylinder head too it has to be something on those lines and big ends
didnt realsie you run theengine without oil chances are its nakered the big ends little ends, up and couldnt of done the bores and psitons any good getting really hot

it hasnt bin run with out oil in it and also hasnt reached temp to over heat hardly bin drivin if oil was leakin it got replaced straight away cause it ony leaked when kicked in because sump wasnt put on right and didnt leak loads. would i need take cam out and all that to take head off? i got a haynes manuel but thinkin i dont know how to set the timing up on cam and pully. do u mean tip water in engine with sump off???? wont it damage engine to tip water on piston with sump on??? sounds dangerous. so tip water down the piston bore? what about the valves? how i know they have gone? i thought when valves have gone oil comes through exhaust? would this even make this tappin noise if the valves had gone? yes i ment the oil gaurge it is 10 psi when warmed up on tick over then gos up to around 50 psi

u aint got to touch cam to take head of time it up where marks am then 8 bolts head off no it wnt damage anyfin it just a test see if rings and bores am ok and sump wasnt put on rite if ad had the car for 4 years it had to be rigt unless the engine is building pressure and its blew the weakest point to get rid of it u didnt rag it did ya or drive it hard wen it was cold cus u haue to let the car get up to temp

did you run the car with low oil at anypoint? going but the marks on the cam, it poss its suffered from a little oil starvation and im wondering if maybe a big end has taken a beating, and you do have a slightly low oil pressure too which is a sign theres a problem with the bottom end.
get a long screw driver or a rod of meatl and put one end of the engine and the other to your ear, work around the engine, top and bottom (watch the moving parts) and listen for the noise, this way you will isolate which part of the engine it is coming from

make sure it aint the sharp bit on me ear? lol it started to tap next day i brought it though 2nd time i drove it first was drivin bck from buying it. the guy on the phone said to me the tappin is the induction filter and rocker filter tappin he glued it down. i carnt see it being that... i will try that so what am i trying to ear for? will i be able hear through a screw driver?
any chance could this be a oil pump issue? the chap i had car off said it wasnt old oil pump.

yeah sound will be amplified and travel through the screwdriver and you can localize the noise this way.
the pump might be at fault, but without further investigation who could say for sure, but worn big ends can effect oil pressure

if you put one end to the block or head/rocker cover and work your way round it with the engine running , the noise will be louder in the area its at, so your know where about the proble is, then you have to find out whats making the noise.
for example, a nocking bigend can sometimes sound like a cam tapping, sounds stupid i know but it can, this way you can tell if it is the top or bottom end tapping.
if say, you check the ehad and its a small noise then on the bottom end its louder, then the problem is on the bottom end, and if its louder near say, cylinder 3 and not so on the other 3, then its a pretty save bet the problem would be with number 3 big end.
but all this does is tell you where the problem is, your have to strip it down, or take the action needed to find out what part is at fault but what ever means is needed, and if its a bottom end know, thats a sump off job.

fck, the chap i brought it off said he's going to live in ireland so i wont able to get him on phone...... i told him also next day we had brought it that it was tappin and he replyed on phone to me is, it is the induction filter and rocker filter needs glueing back down and hes going ireland friday... and i wouldnt able get in touch with him, if i gotta replace rods and bearing's then this as cost me close to how much id get a rs for. cthats if i need bearings i might aswell get stronger rods? i think it would be able to hit 300bhp with new rods? or id need turbo t3? it has t28 i think, i think ad said the ecu would take 300bhp??? anyway bhp dosnt make it go faster mph just faster pull off and hittin to max speed? i brought new tyres for it but dos it skid still like spreadin butter
its hard tryin not to make it skid

if big ends have gone then a crank grind and new shells will be needed, you dont replace rods unless there fcuked, although if you want silly power, then it might be worth looking into

see this is the thing if your entering into buying a modified car you have to be aware and prepared to spend money on it!? Is that not what you thought? IF not sell it and buy a golf tdi. I spent 10-15k on the car and sold it for 4.5k.
And as i will say again you need to start taking things in wayne, your making stuff up i told you i said '' the turbo is good for about 300-350hp so running the low 200's its on will be causing this turbo NO HASSLE at all, the turbo will be fine...
if you want the most out the engine you'll have to get aftermarket management, bottom end checked/uprated rods all that will cost about 3k but will give you the ultimate cvh....
as said if you dont wanna spend money on it sell it, i just spent near 2k on just a manifold and couple other bits for my cossie am i winging? These things have to be done do it once and do it right!

no i ment as in buying the car then all this happin's just on a second drive well kick in, i didnt buy the car spare n repairs dont forget

your buying into a second hand car if you dont know whats been changed then you should have checked for definate before buying. I have never bought a car and had problems after as i always check things throughly. I'm not saying its yoru fault IF there is a problem im saying befor you parted with the cash to know exactly what was done and to what extent as now its costing you money when it shouldnt be.
like i said theres many ways round this if it were me id bite the bullet drop the engine and do the mods part with the 3k and get it back done. I recently had to do the same with my cossie getting it back sorted...

perhaps double it, and 500-600hp probably.... the fiesta will only run 220-230 on those injectors but whether its setup to run that on that chip i dont know as i know he had it reflashed but i dont trust MSD

mate y dont u stri0p the bloosy engine down and rebuild it to your own spec then you will know wots done to it end off max ull get out of 1.6 is 220bhp anymore and youll be putting loads of stain on the block if you want more power go for 1.8 zetec bottom end instead of spending all thatm oney on new boottom end or get a toll block if you want big power
