Postby dangerousdave on Sun Dec 06, 2009 6:25 pm

managed to get the water pipes in today and all conected up, started to think about the way its originally piped up and how im doing it now..... lol didnt look as if water could flow anywhere as the thermostat is the first thing it comes to from the top rad hose, but upon filling with water it cimes out the front pipe, which is for the heater matrix on mine now!, i just started thinking i needed the pipe from the pump to there for some reason but as water seems to pass it will be fine!!

exept the fudgekin housing face was leaking so i tightrned it up as tight as i could and ended up cracking the plasic cover in half!!      so need to get another one now along with some liquid gasket ( after peeling off the one that was on it and saying what kind of a stupid dick uses that stuff!! :P )

sorted out the alternator wiring now so those that are interested in using a mondeo alternator for there 2.0 L

ether cut the multi plug off and connect both red wires to the connection with the rounded plastic walls round it or run one wire from here to the starter motor and the blue wire to the other with the square ones round it

there are labled B+ and D+ iirc but i forgot which were which by the time i got back, lol

well heers a pic to understand better!

Image

and as i left her after i was a little annoyed for splitting the bloody therostat housing!! ignore the waterrail its none functional!! and the painted parts have only had 1 coat as its just to tidy it a little from the horrid green colour it all once was!!

Postby dangerousdave on Fri Dec 11, 2009 5:17 pm

SHE RUNS!ha ha ha well sort of!! she idles at around 3-4k!! sounds sweet tho!! lol

but that was without the turbo piped up and the TB was exposed, doubt would that make a diffence tho??

i gotta try and understand how this ISCV works as theres no pipe on the outside of it! ... anyone know how the 1800 zetec fiesta ones work?

well when its light tomorrow ill try unplugging it when its running to see if its that as it could be down to the TPS as im using the zetec TB thats been modified to work with the throttle cable from cvh! :)

Good news Dave.

I wonder if its down to the zetec TPS then, as to why its ideling high? Have you got all the vacume take offs on the manifolds connected up?

IIRC theres two on the back of the inlet and then one down low on the sandwhich plate, kind of behind the cam cover breather outlet.

Other than this issue though its all ok?

I will be torqueing the head down on mine soon as I have the decomplate and head gaskets now. When you done yours did you fit one gasket over the block then fit the decomp plate then the other gasket on top of that, so the decomp is sandwhiched between the two??

Cheers buddy,

Gareth.

yeah mate, thats what im thinking! they do sit at a difrent angle when i was looking at it compared to my frst one!? hope thats it as its an easy fix :P havent been to it today ill be going in the morning! if i plug my frst one in and it idles lower ill make a plate up ( or 2! :) )

yeah i placed the decomp plate between the 2 focus rs gaskets buddy, also bought new head dowls as they were only £1.22 iirc :)

When you say plug in the FRST one, do you mean the TPS or fit the whole FRST TB? If it is down to this them im going to have the same problem :( but if you cure it with knocking up an adapter to fit Im more than willing to give you some coin to cover making an extra one up??

I also bought some new dowls as well, seeing how cheap they were. Im hoping to get some more done soon, as I finish work for the xmas break next week so should have some updates. Ive not done anything on it for such a long time now lol.

ill make an adaptor hopefully, it depends on how close the holes are to if i can bolt a plate to the inlet and how big the hole on the inlet is to wherter it can be moved one way 5mm to avoid the holes hitting!!?? maybe rotating it a few degrees will be ok only the linkage will look on the piss but it would still function!!... ill need to look at them both and draw them up, or get hold a gasket for them both :D

if i can draw it up to work ill gladly knock 2 up i can clamp thrm together and make 2 at the same time with any luck! :)

Sounds odd to me mate?

Maybe the remote iscv would work ok? thats what i intend on using. Just need to make a take off for the iscv in the rear of the manifold looks easy enough, i got the idea off of a chap on xrtwo.com

Also you sure 100% theres no air leaks around the manifold which could contribute to this problem?

Oh also, your old T2 turbo that you were going to use..... is it in good condition ie no smoke etc? Do you intend on using it again? If not would you want to sell?

not sure mate, the only pos place it could be leaking is the brake servo pipe as the plastic push fit connecter has a chip in it but ill try blocking it off on saturday morning! or ill try and replace the fitting? :)

not to sure what im doing with the t2 just yet as i had it fully reconed with 360 berings ect it has no play at all but this t3 is shagged!! :( so dunno wether to make it fit on the t3 manifold or to sell and rebuild the t3, or to mock up with the t3 and buy one of them 150quid t3/t4 ones from ebay?? :-?

not sure wether to knock up an adaptor to fit the frst inlet onto the zetec head and use all the original sensors except the water temp!!!??

how you doing yours?

i can see me doing a full on build over the next year again!! might rip the ecu etc out run it 2l n/a and build one up in the shed!! :D

Stick with it chap.

Knock up the adapter (x2 :D ) so you can fit the frst TB and try that, I' ll purchase the other one off you as well. Ive seen zetec turbos run with ofac/ofab and use the zetec inlet just with the FRST TB, so there should be no problem just a thought but is your iscv knackered? Try using another one.

Mine is still no further on, looking to get a bit done over the festive break though, should be able to get the head on and engine timed up. Ive got an ofac ecu and map sensor now as well so im getting there with the bits.

not sure if its cuz the iscv is just crap or its totally wrong design? it doesnt bypass air like the frst one does! im thinking of making the whole inlet fit now like heeman did on his zetec turbo!?
