Simple case of one of the nuts on the engine mount adjustable part was duff so worked loose under pressure. I'm gunna have another 1-2mm skimmed off just to be sure.

Renult 5 Turbo filter is nice and stubby mate, it's about 2 inches high. If not you can get a 90 degree oil filer elbow off a Sierra which sends the filter off to the side.

i had that problem!
i used i short oil filter when i fitted my zt, then when i did my first oil change it took me a good hour to unscrew it
whats the 90 degree oil filter elbow off a Sierra look like?any one got a picture? what sierra is it off , it sounds like a good idea.

Dave,

Ive ben doing a little bit on my ZT today and I have some news. If you want to retain the T2 set up just use the mondeo dip stick (the one that comes up the middle). It fits in ok, you just need to bend the very bottom of it very very slightly and its fine. The slight bend has no effect on the dipstick it self as it still slides in and out ok.

Regards the bottom hose from the water pump I have found a suitable pipe that will do the trick, I will just need to put a joiner in to link it with the zetec bottom hose, again its tight but will work.

Just though I would let you know,

Gareth.

small update, last week i made up a couple of hoses will see how good they are soon i may need to turn a bit of a hose joiner up properly yet buy we will see, ill get some pics this weekend as i forgot last weekend!

today the postman came with my parts (thanks RosscoPeeco) i now have a t3 i need to recon, manafold and actuator-( looks almost new just need to tig the stud back on!)

here they are...

Image

Image

picture above is ment to show that it has 02 -310 which i assume means its a -31 actuator....just a guess tho if anyone knows let me know :)

and last the turbo, it has no in and out play on the shaft which i belive means the thrust bearing is ok but has side to side movement around 2mm?? dont know whether to bang it on and see if it makes/holds boost??

Image

hopefully a better update to come sunday night :)

Re: xr2i 2.0L ZT 15-11 well..:( lol inlet cam req

Postby dangerousdave on Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:17 pm

well it started off ok then went a bit s**t to be honest, well i dummy fitted the t3 and it was tight so had to take my bumper and catch off to put the rad back in and to my suprise there was pretty much no rot behind it at all just a tiny bit of suface rust maybe even dirty water......

Image

Image

still not taking the kit off tho.....

i now need another inlet cam!! :( i tryed to rush it and do it without a pully locking tool and useed the cam locking tool instead and look what i did...TW@T :(!!!.......

Image

so can anyone tell me if it was the 1.8 inlet or exhaust cam that was ment to be an upgrade...??? or anyone have a 2l cam for sale cheap??

cheers,dave

xr2i 2.0L budget ZT 22-11 timed up now :)

Postby dangerousdave on Sun Nov 22, 2009 7:00 pm

well i would have lots of nice pretty pictures if i remembered the battery for the camera. (yes i took the camera tho!!)

well the engine is all timed up now and the turbo is offered up i think it will need new journal bearings as it has excesive up down play and no in and out play but i new this before i bought it and intend on getting it rebuilt anyway, but when its primed with oil i will know more!! :)

so all thats left now is for me to

make up some water hoses
get an inlet gasket
figure out what wires go where on the mondeo alternator!
source a t3 oil feed pipe

then when i hear it started up i will be upgrading the fuel pump and brakes before anything else!!

**if anyone can help with the above parts or queries i have let me know!! :D :D :D**

cheers dave

are you sure thats not down to poor breathing mate or maybe as you say its kinda restrictive? i was only going to use it temporary as i will get a mocal filter relocating plate when i have a few quid, but that may still need to be machined down as there 60 mm ish long (10-15mm longer than a r5 one)....?? cheers for the pic and the info tho mate, much appreciated :D :D

i wouldnt of thought it would make a diffrence like i said thats prob down to a poor fitting dip stick or a very bad breating engine as with cvh`s that blow the oil cap off.......??

Getting close now.

Ive been thinking though - the standard zetec coupled with the original zetec ecu ie DESK has a multi plug on the car loom for a cam senser which is located just below the breather outlet on the cam cover. Now when running the zetec on FRST management and subsequent loom what happens to this sensor? as there is no provission for this on a FRST loom.

Ive been looking at ZT's running OFAB or OFAC ie Heemans engine and the is clearly no plug on this sensor, so I guess we just dont use it?

Just wondered if you knew anything about this?

Gareth.

Postby dangerousdave on Thu Nov 26, 2009 6:19 pm

yeah its unused mate, im unsure what it does now on your standard 2L? what does it sense other than the notch on the inlet cam turning? you could prob machine the notch on the cam so you could run cossie management.... :Q :Q

but im just leaving the sensor in and not using it for anything untill i go for an aftermarket ecu!

also theres an extra outlet on the thermostat housing too which im just going to put a pc of pipe on with the coolant temp sensor jubileed into the end for now! if i need to make a proper alloy bung with a thread in i will do but if i dont need to its even easyer!!

should have a better update on sunday if i had a t3 oil feed pipe i could turn it over and maybe start it but i can wait a week or two now!!

so how far you got now buddy? made any progress?
