This there a key to the different symbols in the circle to the left of the thread title?

There's an asterisk in there if you've replied to the topic, anything else is the topic icon which you can choose when you post.

I don't think I've switched topic icons on for all forums though.

OK, cheers. The only reason I ask is that sometimes the "writing" seems to be scrolling?

I think that means its a hot topic (x number of replies in the last hour)
