The Recaro Fiesta - the rebuild begins
it wast funny at the time
In a panic i cut up a arctic lorry and pulled over and opened the bonnet fearing for the worst.
Tony was behind me when i floored it and a cloud of blue smoke just emerged from the underneath of my car

I finally got a full set of brand new Rs turbo alloy wheels
Hang on - whats this ????
These ones look like brake discs and are painted in metalic grey.
The casting date on the back is 1989. Before the Rs was introduced. My guess is they changed the wheel design for the Fiesta Rs.
The guy i won the wheels off on ebay threw in 4 brand new center caps for free !!!
I kept quiet incase he wanted more money
I guess i can metal fill the holes and then paint to match the other two wheels or just leave them and have endless people say to me whats with the holes

Only messing fella, they look funny like brake disc dummies, they have to go, but on the other hand very good wheels they will make it look
so i take it your going back to boggo looking then????
The progress of this car so far is very good, i love the look of the engine bay and i can imagine the exterior of the car is going to look very similar to my two old white cars, keep up the good work clark (and team)

If they are home drilled they've been very accurately.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

But they are original ford - they came in the ford box and wrapping.
The smooth alloys have 1990 cast date

is there no one that can be spoken to at ford or in the know about the origins of these wheels? as u know clark i love standard wheels, and if these are done like this from the factory then i say put the drilled ones on the front and normal on the back. go for it, might look quite good really

Think those wheels were some sort of option, i think, tho im sure ford did it anyhow.
So id keep them, even if its just on the fronts

Ford parts department are very limited at the best of times. Fat chance of them finding out when certain wheels where made....
I dont know if they are still availible via fords either
But i do know if you order a new center cap from fords it wont match the original silver...

naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dont put them on unless you have a full set, but tbh, there look complete toss so i wouldnt.
if you do for some warpped reason decide to keep them and want the front wheels drilled the same i will drill them for you in the work shop, but i will need 1 of the drilled wheels to make a template to make them all match

You can hardly see the holes TBH, But maybe they would suit a more original FRST? Id just keep them if they are rare and different!

Looking at them again clark i say fill and spray, they are different but they just don't look right, people mock the standard wheels for having that brake disc look-a-like thing so they would go to town on the vented option.

Clark them 2 drilled wheels look proper shiite
Look under the centre caps, is the number different on the wheels
Should be either V90FB 1007 A B or 92FB 1007 D A
Just cos they were cast in 89 doesnt mean a thing
they been drilled after as even in the photo's the colour looks slightly darker

I've seen them like that before somewhere. Can't recall where but as far as I know some came from Ford like that.
Post in general, Excursion or Gaz7 or someone will know for sure.

So many replies ! where to start
max - what do you mean a MORE original FRST, are you saying mine isnt original or what ???
Rob - yes i do have 8 now, im very fussy
Jayrs - your welcome to my other rims
h196jne - i cant decide, will trial fit the rims on the front when i get the tyres for them.
What tyres do you recommend without going to mad on the price ?
sphinx -
Jasper J - the code stamped on the normal rs alloy is : V90FB-AB
the code stamped on the alloys with the holes is : V90FB-AA
Adrian - posted in general
Jam - they would be different if i can find 2 more

Re: The Recaro Fiesta - Rs alloys
Update
Not much has changed for quite a while then came along the moment you have all been waiting for ....

There back with New pirelli p6000 tyres.
I love it with the standard look now, the rs drives so much better with 14's compared to 16's. Handerling is 100% better and no rubbing wheel arches ever again....
I got a few pics while i was at trax today ....

I need a few green strips to complete this transformation
What do you lot think ?
