SPEAKER QUESTION
Hi, i have a weird question for you sound experts/people
basicly i have a 4 speaker sterio/head unit? can i (using my amazing electrical skills) connect addition speakers off the exsisting wires leading to my 4 speakers. perhaps split the wires off and put 2 speakers off the same wire with extra wiring of course. would this sound rubbish or would it jsut make the extra speakers quieter, eg if u take a battery and add more bulbs to the circuit the bulbs go dimmer. bad example i know hehe. anyway i dont know if this even makes sense to anyone elese but it kind of does in my head, so any advice would be cool, cheers all!!

I have done this and it works fine. Well it works really well considering how much it cost me, i.e. nothing. I have 4 front speakers, all standard ford ones. I don't know how well it would work if the speakers were different.

You have to be careful with this as by wiring them in parallel you will lower the impedance of the circuit and therefore put more strain on the amp.
Car speakers are usually 4 ohms and you should match them to an amp which can do four ohms. Wiring another speaker onto the circuit will change that, going higher (by wiring in series) will make the sound quieter. However going lower strains the amp.

Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.
