Lol the only thing wrong with The Clio sport I had was the electrics they were Pisa poor other than that it went well, handled well and was generally a fun car to own

But I sold it because of the s**t electric faults lol

Looks nice Nick i DID love theses cars until i owned my last one finally got shot of it few weeks back thank god.

As long as its not a daily should be good for a track car had 2 x VTS's now and both where very fast handled great but so unreliable make sure you trailer it to the track day as you might not be driving it back lol

that's the spirit !! that's how a track car should be used so what are the plans nick? more lows, stripping and a cat back? super sprint are meant to be a good one for bang vs buck but they are raspy but pop good flames

At the mo, it'll be strip it + buckets and harnesses. Then I'll take it out on track and see where the land lies and what I need to change/improve over time I'll be much happier once its MOT'ed, then I can drive it down to collect the buckets and have runners fabricated

Cheers dude. She's coming home on Saturday so I can whip the exhaust off and see what's going on with the gear linkage.

Gear linkages give bother. 2 short ones. 1 lonh. They are metal with a nylon bush and a rubber outter. Rubber gives way and the "stirring the soup" effect kicks in.

Best bet, get the Group N alloy linkages (on ebay) with the locking clips. Plaster with thick high grade grease and forget about them!!! Done the mod on my last two Saxos. And guess what, i forgot to steal them off my older one and stick on the new one.

Ps. Regarding exhaust, Supersprint mani and centre section with a Scorpion backbox..,,sounds awesome!!!

Today was the day that the saxo came back to its new home however woke up this morning to...


However, my man with a van was very committed, so I opened up its current place, got it on the back of the lorry, and back to mine





The current fleet:

Reconnected all the lighting, rear bumper and cleaned the 4 months worth of mould out of the interior today.




Made a small checklist that is likely to grow before it gets on the road properly!

Alarm keeps going off - previous owner disconnected the siren, indicators still flash occasionally even when the engine was running. I think I've partially solved this by locking the car to arm the alarm, remove battery, put battery back on, and disarm the alarm. Hasn't gone off since. I've been disabling the interior sensors for the moment too as they're pretty common to fail apparently.

Rear offside tail light bulb
Near side repeater bulb
Exhaust join between downpipe and cat is missing the spring bolts and possibly has an incorrect fire ring
Excessive movement in gear lever
Reattach offside door moulding
New discs and pads all round
Service

Regarding alarm....up in behind the radio there is a black box. there should be a brown plug and i think white or grey....disconnect the brown one, lock the door and unlock and your alarm should be fine!!

my grandads picasso has that same alarm issue, except it wasnt actually sounding off, but flashing even when driving down the road, he had a techy remove the alarm

also my Si's alarm sounds when its activated by the key randomly :/

As Maxwell said i had to do this on my last VTS the alarms are prone to going a bit dodgy.

As for the gear leaver mine had this issues solved with a powerflex lower engine mount (well worth doing!!) also putting some solid gear linkages on. Made it 100% better being french will never be great lol.

I think its the ultrasonic sensors that were causing the alarm issues - i've been disabling them with the button on the dash before locking it and it hasn't gone off since. Will disconnect the ultrasonics and plug the siren back in at the weekend and see what happens.

Cheers for the tips for the gearshift. Luckily there's 'OK' weather forecast for Friday so I'll be able to get the Sax up in the air and see exactly what's loose etc

Did a little bit more this evening after I got back from work.

Fixed the side repeater
Fixed the rear tail light
Removed front fogs (both cracked - excess weight)
Measured up the bolt needed for the toe strap from the fiesta
Narrowed down the alarm fault to an issue with the driver door lock mechanism.
Found out it was a cat C write off in 2003 (:lol:) explains the paint!
Removed 16V badges (and a bit of paint on the passenger side!)
Attempted to fix the boot lock - filled with gunk and mechanism stuck. Central locking actuator completely missing so I need to find one of those so I can lock the boot!

And i have a spare drivers door actuator. Will get my mate to dig it out for me. Cover the postage and you can have it free of charge!!

Personally i would disconnect the brown plug from the alarm!!

That's what I'll probably end up doing but at the moment it's the central locking that's not playing ball which is cocking up the alarm I think! Then again the alarm isn't clever enough to realise that I've turned the ignition on and still does it!

At the moment, if I hit unlock on the fob, the passenger door unlocks, then locks again after 1 second. The drivers door pin moves slightly but not enough. I then unlock it with the key but the alarm is still armed. I have to unlock it with the key at the same time as pressing the unlock button on the fob for the alarm to deactivate. The key does feel a little bit stiff so come the weekend ill whip the doorcard off and have a gander.

If I can get back to you on Friday ill let you know if I need the drivers door actuator, it's the boot one that's totally missing at the mo, I'll need to go to a scrappy on Saturday lol.

Thats exactly what happened to my last vts!!! Seriously. Bin the alarm. And if you want an alarm, buy a toad ai606 off ebay for £90. If its a track car i wouldnt worry!! Just lock the doors manually!!

I'll be getting rid of the alarm no matter what happens. Would ideally like to keep the central locking but I have a remote locking kit in the shed I can use instead.

I've got a mate who's an auto sparky who's going to give me a hand at some stage, I'll be removing the whole lot, even the wiring there doesn't seem to be an immobiliser on the alarm system so should be pretty simple to remove

Whole interior will be going Jon, will be getting buckets and harnesses instead. Keeping the interior in for the MOT.
