Nick's VTS
Well well, here we are.
A friend of mine was getting rid of this 'beauty' for a ridiculously low price so I've taken him up on his offer and very shortly this will be in my possession.
It's a 2000 reg Saxo VTS, 1.6 16v, 120bhp. The paintwork is very tatty indeed, and it needs a few bits and pieces on the steering and bushes to pass its MOT. I'll be replacing parts in my mates garage until its ready for its MOT, then it'll come back to mine.
The top end has been freshly rebuilt after the cam belt was not properly replaced and allegedly some valves were bent. The previous owner rebuilt the engine, replaced the cambelt, then found an Astra GTE that he wanted more than the Saxo, so sold it!
It's current mods are minor lowering, green cotton air filter, decat exhaust, and MK1 spoiler.

Plans? Strip it, track it!

This is of course providing it isn't a complete rusty f**cked motor - which I'll be finding out this morning. I'm sure it's fine though

Bit early for April Fools isn't it? Lol. All jokes aside, the VTS is a pretty sweet car

It's more the rear axel I'm concerned about - I know the engine should be OK - it runs very nicely indeed and the oil has been recently changed

No play in the rear axel! Boot floor is also rust free.
The paintwork is s**t - seriously s**t - and it needs the following:
Brakes
Gear linkages are sloppy (new linkages already fitted and no help)
Exhaust needs fitting properly. With the increased movement in the gear selector, the linkage is hitting the exhaust where the downpipe meets the cat.
Other than that it looks OK, will have a better look next weekend before I book it's MOT.

Re: Nick's VTS
The 206 gti brake upgrade I did on mine was pretty good for the money - 266mm so still fit under 14's which is a bonus.
I also had a "ge" quickshift on mine, which attaches to the linkages in the engine bay. That made such a difference for the money (about £10)
I had issues with my exhaust - I.e it fell off pretty much at Combe! Bit of an odd design at the cat, but once you get it sitting right it should stay put. Is it a 106 exhaust or a saxo one? (They're slightly different)
Don't worry about the paint - it's a track car!!

No idea what exhaust is on it I'll admit, I'll get some decent photos of the underneath of it when I'm next there trying to sort out the sloppy gearstick.
I'll consider the 206gti brakes - got to get the thing on the road first - hasn't been on the road in 3 years now

Re: Nick's VTS
Good move. Get a griffin engineering or compbrake quickshift to sort the gear linkage out, and if you have the money get some spoox gear linkages. The shift is usually terrible on citroen/peugeots as standard anyway.
Brakes,as you have the 15" wheels i think, try and find some 406 v6 brembos, they go on easily and are so good you could probably do an endo.
If the exhaust is pants, try looking for a supersprint exhaust, they are only about £150
Its not too late to buy some track time for ppc

Everything is going to go into getting it on the road. I have buckets and harnesses pretty much ready to go in -
Sent off an enquiry to griffiths engineering regarding the quickshift, see what they come back with. It'll be easiest to work on and see what I'm doing when the car is back at mine.

Re: Nick's VTS
It did, I removed it, I know there's people on here that don't like Jony and they have all made it more than clear by now, don't see the point of people keeping on with it at every opportunity
Still, done now, no point taking this more off topic
Nick, I miss read your first post
I thought it said, plans, strip it or track it
hence my reply, but yeah just reread it, and yeah I'm with ya now, tracking it will be good, paint finish ain't important for that

oh i think everyone overtook him lol, but he didnt hold back
reminds me of this 406 coupe, was clearly fast enough to keep up with 328's and the like, but the guy was an idoit, kept loosing control on the bends, in the end he calmed down and let everyone by, including me not long after he almost binned it on the last straight of the lap
