most of you know my bad luck with the fez lately well.....


as you may know my car will be featured very soon ...

also i now have bought a STG 3 head for the car and now on the look for a good kent 36 cam kit and uprated springs once done the car will be going in for the head change, also will be going in for a turbo change upto a T28hybrid

hopeing for bigger things then 200+ bhp and a big smile as the car will be completed and me satisfied .....





















the wheel hub is now sorted too so things looking up now onwards and upwards... once the fez is done to that spec it will be stored/showed until next year when i'm afraid it will be sold

the cossie will be getting the attention when the fez is done as come next year same old story really i can't really afford them both as i am saving for my own house/business so the fiesta will go ... anyway lets enjoy the car until then

Where did that head get worked mate as im struggling to understand why a stage 3 head still has the valve guides protruding into the cylinders?

head was done by a close mate who i suppose you could say it isn't stg 3 depending how you look at certain aspects but the head was only £200 so i aint gonna moan it wil be having ss valves and the cam kit which IMO will be more than fine for my spec, as i'm not goin for 300bhp just improve on what i have

should be together in the next few months rich, show season is ending i am quite busy atm too so will be done as and when

FFS Ad! You're always on about needing to save and pay the Cossie back - stop buying stuff! Sounds as though the car's quick enough, and the bodywork etc is done, so stop spending and start saving! KNOW YOURSELF If you keep this up you'll have to sell it before next year, and before you've had a chance to enjoy it. You've only just paid for a setup etc, and it'll be off the road again for XXX weeks while you get the head and turbo done by someone, then before you know it you'll have to sell it. Just enjoy the bugger! Looks good in the pic though, will wait to see your feature

your not going to get much gain in flow with that head mate because not only is it running standard valve sizes it looks in the pictures that the only work done to it is some port matching on the inlet and exhaust ports.

And if the person who did it for you is a mate he shouldent be charging you £200 for that.

Im not trying to put you down mate or be nasty i just dont like people paying over the top for somthing that isnt as much use as its supposed to be.

i ported and polished my own head for my fiesta and i wouldent say its any stage and although its still running standard valve sizes the valve guides have been cut back and its had extensive porting work so will give a greater inprovment in flow.

paradox the head has been ported out as said before tho i dnt have the time to do it myself and i dnt need a mega head so this is a good enought improvement on a std head and as also said it will be having ss valves i hope

Rick - Polishing the entire inlet tract like that will be detrimental to the ideal flow patterns I'm afraid. Combustion chamber polishing and some chamfering at the outer bowl face is good, and exhaust port polishing is all good, but turbulent flow is needed at the inlet, not laminar I'm afraid. You make fair points though.

james the inlet in that pic appears a lot smoother than it actually is and i put grooves going accross the flow with 60 grit alu oxide paper before the head was fitted to aid turbulance and fuel suspension so all should be well there.

Ian i wasent saying my head would flow more than adamskis i couldent prove that without a flow bench but i would be willing to put money on out of two identical heads apart from one has had the valve guides cut back the one with the valve guides protruding in the port would flow a lot less.

Sorry to join in with the head-bashing, but the second chamber from the left even seems to have a radial score-mark in it, not useful for even combustion, and none of them are polished Looks like a standard head with a cam so far Ad, don't get ripped off!

its isn't a std head i have opened the ports some more as it was shaped for the T2 man and i will be using the T3 one so i opened them out a bit they are smooth but it hasn't been finished yet so it'll be ok its sometimes hard to tell with pics agreed on the guide tho but IMO i didn't ask for that to be done so my bad how could i cut it back ?

OK BTTT as the car isn't quite finished

new head has been sent away its had the guides ground out and more work done, also the SS valves arrived today along with the newman cam kit got picked up so will be started to be built up

car is driving well too had to make a few brake adjustments over the last few weeks but all sorted now

just awaiting my few bits off lockersparts and my T28 hybrid turbo back frm MAD, meanwhile i wil be taking the car back to A+H they will be modding my rad and pushing it forward to make way for the turbo...

so when the head is ready, turbo ready and all bits just ready to go on it will go to my mates garage for the swap, BUT i have been offered some STEEL rods as i thought mine were but are not, for £500 unsure whether to buy them with the rods fitted new turbo and head spec 'if' i did get the car live mapped i can easily hope for a 250-300bhp just dunno whether to call it a day swap the head or change the rods while the head is off???? desicions

aware of that but the pistons have done F all miles and if i remove the pistons/ rods from the top would be less hassle while the head is off dunno atm will see how i get on.... will wait to see how long it takes me to get the head back and see if i have the cash to spare

ok no pics just yet but the last few weeks i have been driving the FRST about enjoying it had alot of nice comments about the car in general and also frm the mag feature , had a few brake problems which are now sorted nothing serious just needed adjusting ....

whilst having the car out tho i have discovered the car has a few water leaks of the car kind not engine kind so i have got on the phone to the window fitter and i have to go meet him tues to get the windows sealed to stop the leaking ... also i think i may have a leak vis the top plate fitted to house the mk5 pollon filter.... thats to be discovered tho if it is leaking or not ...

meantime today i struck a decision i have took the car apart a bit and decided to remove the heater gubbings as there not working 100% and TBH i built the car to be track ready so the heater is not really needed so that will save a few lb's ...

my stg3 head is back newman cam is waiting to go in as soon as my rockers and that arrive frm stokeup7 then it will be ready for fitting to my engine, car will pop to A+H for the rad mods then go to my mech's for the head and turbo swap so in the next month or two i am hoping to basically have the car back to me and then i will be calling it a day modding this the project will be finished and will enjoy taking it to all the shows next year before the car is sold or broken ... so not long now before its totally finished, i have to say tho i think i have built one of the best all round cars its nice on the road and driving hard in handling and sound and looks and quick (altho yet to be proven ) but its been a long road but the end is in sight, cars well dirty atm so didn't take pics but will do soon as i have changed the few things

BUT also i know i'm not quite finished here but i would like to take time to thank alot of you for help, guidence and being there when i needed you you know who you all are also to ADE without this site i would have struggled/ given up time ago! (and be alot richer ) But serious thanks alot and heres looking forward to next show season for my first and last season in the FRST

thing is mike the car will be off the road for about a month when the cossie is back in 2 weeks plus the FRST will be kept in a garage until i either want to use it or take it to a show i will be using the cossie over the winter its not as if i go far anyway so cold mornings wont effect the car really...

It's a nice stage when you can sit back a bit and get round to thanking people For quite a few months now my car has just been sitting there...every week or two I'll jump in, drive the bo**ocks off it and park it up again..polish it, and do the same again. Lapping it up, really enjoying all the hard work, and have put over 1,500 miles on it since I left uni in August! I'm glad you've had yours out and about a bit now, and that you'll be sorting the little niggles that could, in time, have ruined a perfect shell. Be good to see you getting it up and down to shows next year

yes james its been quite fun not really gone far in it tbh but once the head and turbo is fitted it'll be a trip to brum for a final power run then, use is as much as i can at all the shows , as tbh this head needs new stem seals i think
