ok today got the STG 3 head to be fitted, my mate james came up took the car and left me with his GTI-R :)

so by tomorrow the head will be on cam run in then he will drop it back off to me!!....

couple of pics of the head not the best but only ones i could get quicly before he left

its got:-
STG 3 port+light polish
new guides cut back
SS valves
NEWMAN Cam Kit
solid lifters
all new parts too, going to have a genuine FORD H/G too and uprated bolts :aviator:

only shame about my build now is the lack of steel rods with these, different inj and management/live map my car would be capable of upto 300bhp
:Q
anyone giving away steel rods??

Image

Image

so will be fitted up with the T2 manifold and gasket till i get the turbo off the cossie so the head wont be flowing its full potential till the T3 manifold is on but sure it'll be alot better than before :D ....

then once i have fitted the turbo i'm about finished :) .. gonna get a couple more small bits done at A+H just to make life a bit easier...

as soon as the turbo is on i will be back on the rollers :Q ...

well head is now on and gotta admit goes like stink now :oooh: ..... before the car used to go well but tailed off, where as now the harder it rev's the faster it wants to go now! :o

really quite rapid... but only thing that is slightly concerning me the reason for me changing the head was the not peak in performance and i had smoking on start up, now the head is done i started the car just now to come home and it seemed to white smoke alot maybe cause its cold and maybe the coldstart on the car but seemed alot IMO, now unsure if this is the turbo giving way or what as the head parts were brand new so that rules out the stem seals :-? .....

i could be imagining it and will find out when i use the car tomorrow to see if it smokes alot on start up but only seems to smoke for 5 mins till warm then clears.....

but all in all thats not a huge issue atm the car runs much better and drives more responsive and pulls like a train... :D

Yep, pulling harder and harder is quite fun! :) That's the big difference between my fiesta and the current.

Good news about it all, just hope you haven't got another problem :)

yes it goes real well now mike put some pics up of the work done today :)

just a touch concerned about the smoking dunno really i may try replacing a hose or 2 see if that helps  ...

could be the turbo, altho when i fit the new one that will rule that one out

Hopefully it's just the cold weather! :D

I guess if it was the turbo then it isn't awful, as you have another. But it'd still be nice to sell it for good money rather than as a broken one.

It all sounds stressful to me!

ok so called 2nd hand head that is meant to have a stg 1 setup piper cam etc............

pics first!!!

MESS!!!

Image

LIFTERS!!!

Image

4TH LOBES!!!

Image

3RD LOBES!!!

Image

2ND LOBES!!!

Image

1ST LOBES!!!

Image

There is no markings on the cam, the head is not stg 1 altho the chambers have been polished......

3 out of the 8 lifters are not very good!!! 1 of them WILL NOT EVEN WORK!!!

head is choked and if people cant see whats wrong with the cam then i'm sure one of the more technical people will point out how obvious it is :o

so to me truely the reason why my car was so down on power, the head was bought from a shropshire breaker who also supplied me with a £250 S2 (RECONDITIONED) gearbox that also lasted 1 mile  :x .....

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD!!!!!

also atm the turbo is truely shafted!!!!! smoking all the time so will be sending a courier to go get my one off my cossie so i can fit it as the car if vertually undrivable on this turbo :(

:x :(

comments very welcome

cheers chaps Ad xx

holy schmoly! that be some very worn lobes....
believe it or not but this is quite common on cvh engines, can be as a result of people changing lifters and not the cam or vice versa and then not runnin them in for the crucial 25mins!
am thinking that someone has changed the lifters in this head ad cuz normally the lifters wear so low that it pierces the bottom and they lose there oil but the at least the new ones ok! shame about the blower but hey onwards an upwards!

p.s car looks awesome :Q

cheers yes the lifters must have been changed at some point as some of them are V good!? but 1 of them is solid not movement :o and few others are not brill, so someone is f'in stupid somewhere...

the lobes are so crap on some lobes and average on 1 or 2 but to me this so called piper cam thats a std one really looks 10yrs old!

just another niggle hey  ....

but the car goes reall really well now bar the turbo issue lets hope i can get it swapped and have trouble free motoring :oooh:

It's a real shame there's so many pikey gits out there who are only too greedy and lacking in morals that they rip countless people off ("specialised" engines springs to mid - oops did i say that out loud?!! don't get me started  )

I bet you want to go and kick the living s**t :x out of the bloke who sold it to you eh?!

Hope the your luck improves, lovely car mate.

luckily i have done sweet FA miles, so hopefully will all be ok!?

no doubt the new head is amazing :D this head just needs rebuilding really, anyway it is being sent to a company that did some workon my new one they said they would give me £70 for my old one for them to rebuild :)

i may be having the engine out in feb anyway depending on if i get steel rods as i know some have come up cheap :)

OK got the turbo off today :) ... AND  its totally shat itself :oooh: its a TT one so i can only presume it was a std item as they are normally v good....

my T28 hybrid was supposed to be collected yesterday but only got collected today  so on mon it'll arrive, tues i'll go over early fit the turbo and get new pipes etc fabricated (cheers A+H :P  ) be able to fit the T3 style manifold gasket then and benefit more flow :D ...

may also be ripping out the heater stuff as its not working and get them to fit my up with a mini rad and fan for interior warmth :) ...

so hopefully this time next week the car will be full strength! :)

T3 style gasket? What's been on there till now? Are you going to be addressing the matter of this standard T2 with the seller? I sure as hell would.

i didn't bother taking pics of the turbo and that but its safe to say it was shafted the oil was everywhere in it  we all know what that looks like...

james the prob is he said he thought it was a hybrid and i got it for £150 bare so tbh it wasn't asif it was expensive, but the seller was a random on here so doubt they have ever been on since  ....

at least i have the safe mind knowing the turbo i will now be using is awesome :) ....

mike- yes is annoying in a way but in the same respect i dont majorly use it, and gives me a chance i think to remove the heater stuff now too... hopefully as said come tues afternoon will be rocking and rolling again

But i also think i need to reheight the front coilovers as on hard driving it can rub the arch slightly, so i will be addressing that too v shortly as want the setup to be perfect :)

ok gonna take my digi wiht me tomorrow as theres been a few changes with the bay now!!! :P

the bulk head has been changed a bit, new turbo has been fitted up and removed several times  .....

the rad has had to come right forward trimmed and modded and now will be fitted up with a blowing fan :) ....

the T28 hybrid was a touch tricky to fit but its all good now just the downpipe to match and weld up tomorrow then slap the turbo back on and rad back in then its time to prime and fire her up again! :D

the frnt suspension has been raised due to the scrubbing issues so should hopefully ride sweet now when driven hard!

so hopefully after tomorrow, if i can get AL to come down and fix the few issues with my heating then the car WILL be finished for good, well my ownership anyway :) ...

pics and that to follow tomorrow! :D
