update on my 2.0 si hassle
update finally got the rear quarter painted on the runabout and got the kit back on used this stuff for stickin it back on done the job perfect only cost 7 quid

the paint match was good but i didnt mask it up to well
also been having a nitemare with my si  had a missfire / hold up when cold so treid a new air temp sensor on the inlet no luck, then drove to burton power and bought a webber coil pack for just under £50 the car struggled all the way back and was getting worse

still no luck then it got so bad there was no power, rac guy came out and jus disconneted the maf, and that was it
decided to order a brand spanking new one from fords £143 later

runs lovely now, still got steering issue to sort fingers crossed it will be sorted by the weekend

Re: update 2.0 si hassle
decided to take some recent pics of my si

then at ford fair bought a chome jack and battery surround to finish off the engine bay, not fitted in pics yet and also at ford fair bought some ford badges for my gti wheels im not sure i like them but they are slowly growing on me

then finally got the last of the adviseries from last mot on the runabout sorted was to fit a proper secure petrol cap as the last seized and i damaged the filler neck removing the seized cap, so replaced the filler neck with a new cap and key

and while it was out i gave it some paint under the rear arches

all back together

has some hassle as the small breather pipe on top of the tank came off so had to lower the tank down
some pics of it sitting around but should be back on the road in about 2 weeks

Re: my 2.0 si...updated on the runabout new backbox fitted
i bought a gt3 direct fit 4 inch inwardly rolled exhaust from ebay, for my winter runabout xr2i replica. i first saw the exhaust on dannyboys old mk3 si rep a few years ago, cost bought £90 delivered but the fit was perfect only took me 10 mins
i also asked the guy who sells them to see if he could do it inwardly rolled instead of outwardly rolled which he could
i also fitted a new exhaust rubber to tighten things up
it sounds really nice to and isnt to loud
before fitting

on the car

i also dipped the battery clamp in vinegar to remove rust

and painted it black

What paint did you use under the arches? Has come out really well
Also, probably just a personal preference, but do you reckon the inner part of that exhaust would look better black? May be some black VHT? Just might make it look a little less blingy
Also, how long did you leave that clamp in the vinegar? I've always wanted to try a bit of rust-removal using vinegar

i know exactly what u mean about the exhaust but it being a high mileage ohv engine im sure once its back on the road it will be full of soot lol
i used white hammerite smooth for the painting under the arches
i left the battery clamp in vinegar over night used the cheapest vinegar from asda

Re: my 2.0 si...updated on the runabout new backbox fitted
got a small update
the runabout passed its mot third time in a row
with only advoisorys to get the rubber front brake changed so will get that done ) not bad as its on 144k
also with help from stainlessmoles guide and help from a mate done the rear head rest conversion on the runabout using height adjusters from my mates old escort seats

i again used 16v si head rests as they tilt ack and forth but i have spare 1.4 headrests if i change my mind
also i last drove the si to ace cafe in london car drove really well but when i got a mate told me i had bulb out and noticed this

the plug had melted so bought some new ones from halfords along with shrink wrap
so going to solder it on during the winter at some point
and also while at ace cafe while polishing the si i noticed this on the other headlight

dont worry its not the head protector
but my 2 or 3 month old genuine ford headlight cracked

no idea how it would have happened as it had a headlight protector must of been a dodgy headlight :banghead:
oh well now on the hunt for another
also in the next few weeks im off to get some more parts powder coated for the si
thats it for now

Re: my 2.0 si...small update on both cars :)
small update my mate wired in a rear courtsey light into my white fiesta runabout easyjob only took 10 mins take power from the front light and run it along the headlining and round to the back cut the headlining and theres a recess in the roof for the light lense to pop in sorted

makes such a difference finding things in the dark
also bought a set of stainless nuts and bolts etc from samwatson to replace a number of them around the car on my si, boot hindges, door catches and fuel filter holder bolt got a few more to get sorted though

and yesterday i dropped off a few more parts to the powder coaters, which i pinched from the 5 door si i recently broke, the bar which goes from the cross member to the behind the bonnet hindge, fuel filter holder.....both of these are being done in black chrome same as my radiator fan and all the other bits i done done a year ago, and front simgle wiper arm in satin black

and after visiting the powder coaters i went 25 miles down the road to basildon essex and popped into gaz shocks to order a set of fast road/track coilovers for my si
like these

should be made up and ready mid- late january
and i went to a meet with fcgb in september and my si got a decent pic in performance ford mag as they were there

Re: my 2.0 si update, gaz coilovers fitted :)
got another update over the last month
finally my rs turbo pop out windows are fitted to my si with new end cap bolts thanks to sam watson for doing it all

fitted with another height adjuster as it was broken

new si.com stickers to go on

richbrook ford dust caps

sierra lights on warning buzzer fitted to the si much ....much better
heres a video

stainless bolts

powder coated wiper arm fitted

richbrook ford italian leather handbrake handle fitted, got a gaiter as well needs modifing (thanks again sam )

and then about a month i got to work on the runabout after it decided eat through a water hose on my birthday a couple of weeks back resulting in the AA having to bodge it up

the AA's bodge

the cause of the water pipe getting damaged a snapped gearbox mount

back on again but i had to take it back off as i forgot to put the gearbox mount casing on lol

ive had fair few problems with the runabout in the last month which resulted in me putting it up sale but soon changed my mind
ive had to replace in the last month
gearbox mounts £10
genuine ford front water pipe (rad-water pump ) £22
lamdba sensor £70
spi unit £20
second hand alternator £25
but now it runs and drives perfect, i replaced lambda sensor as it was only doing 26mpg
but with a new one i got 50mpg out of it last week
also got these from the scrappy from a top of the range escort, one touch electric window relays which are now in and working on the si

then it was bodyshop time for the si
as i decided it was time to put on my replacement bootlid and rst spolier on and rear bumper replaced as it had been hit in a hit and run 2 years ago
all cleaned
ready to go

and this morning the truck arrived ready for the trip on south east customs bodyshop near maldon

also heres my fiesta rs turbo steering rack

new gaiters to go on and will get a lick of paint before being fitted (ended being pas ones but got them replaced)

and a week later
its back very happy with the finish although its going back to have the inside of the boot painted as the bodyshop didnt think i wanted it done but its getting sorted once its back on the road

will gets some pics of it clean in a week or 2 as its very dusty atm
and will be putting a ford badge back on too

glad the run around stayed too as silly things were letting it down, would have been a shame to sell it over them
