Excursion :I might buy some more of your parts so I can see you again.
Are you only fitting the front wishbone carriers in order to fit the ARB brackets? I don't know what it's like on the MK3.5, but on the MK3, the holes are there, and you can basically tap a thread using the ARB bracket bolts as you do them up - works well!

slight upate got the welding done on the xr2i replica

now the spi unit is playing up yet again reving up and down by itself so probs going to have to get another1 or even still a fresher engine due to a oil leak but it will have to stay as it is for now as its coming off the road 30th april for a month and staying in my fiancees mums garage  as the insurance and tax run out and im in america for most of may so going to renew the insurance 1st june
also took my 2 litre si out as the weather was nice so gave it a good clean as it hasnt been cleaned since september and was getting dusty due to being worked on a few months back

then stuck it back in the garage

cant wait to drive it again still got plenty to buy for it when i come back from miami

Re: my 2.0 si: new mods for the xr2i runabout
update here
ordered my roose motorsport hoses about 4 weeks ago rang them last week and they are just about to start making them as they have had a lot of orders recently, will get pics of them once they arrive
also picked up a BnM Quickshift for the si.... i love it cant wait to bolt it to the car, once ive painted the floor pan

also painted the back rear heat sheild

going to do the other rear next week as ive got 2 new ones to go on

got new bolts for the rear shocks and when i took the anti roll bar off i noticed that the bolts were different sizes so ordered 2 new ones in and a bolt for the manual alternator belt adjuster and toothed bit

painted the inside of the rear valanceand boot floor and under the rear arches black

and with the anti roll bar i noticed for some season it had 4 of the same brackets on it when there are meant to be too different types thicker one for the shock at the back of the roll bar and the other one at the front

3 new brackets

then i fitted my new poly bushes to it and put it on the car and painted the bar yellow

but have since taken it off and not all the brackets were lining up properly so will have a play with that next week and re paint the roll bar as ive scuffed it :hmm:

well ive got a fair bit too do plan is to get the rear roll bar on properly take all of the other 3 heatsheilds off paint one of them replace the other 2, get gear linkage off paint floor , fit bnm quickshift with new uprated joints on the rods fit heat sheilds back on, polish up backbox, then hopefully by then my roose hoses would have arrived then can get the cylinder head off and while thats off my mates going to do the manual steering conversion on it then head skim, head back on and should be be running sweet again
plan is to get this all done by end september but the car wont be back on the road until 1st april, so if i have some spare cash i will get some bodywork work done there not much just want the rear bumper re painted and the rear valance

true ok its easier to park with pas but i just loved the feel on non pas i know that fiestas with pas do have a good bit of feel to them compared to nasty vauxhall corsa with lifeless power steering, plus with non theres less to go wrong and less leaks lol except the common steering knuckle joint but just bought a new genuine ford one

upate here
finally got a pic of my roose motorsport hoses with stainless steel clips for my 2 litre si

also ordering my genuine ford headgasket kit this week so can start pulling the si apart very soon
ive also been doing a bit of work to the runabout

the starter motor has been slowly dieing so i put on a si one, from a si i broke up a while ago... looks pretty new too

the old one was covered in oil as the front and rear crank seals are leaking
but my mates a ford mechanic so will get them sorted and keep it going its on 133,000 miles now
also my front shock were squeeking badly so i bought 2 brand new gmax ones new wishbones and put the anti roll bar on with new droplinks and bushes and new si vented discs pads and cailpers so it now has anti roll bars front and rear
but had a problem as the roll bar is catching on the cat so may need to get the exhaust modified a bit some how? :hmm:
also one of the track rod end is has been welded so getting new ones ordered in asap then get the tracking done

also went to the scrappy to get a few bits for my runabout as there were a few bits missing/ broken so got a brake fluid cap and a exhaust manifold heat sheild
sprayed up the heatsheild
pic is after one coat

then i gave the car a full engine bay clean

hopefully the next update will be on the si :lolz:

I would recommend removing the kick panel trims, piuercing the bitumen sound deadening and filling the sills with waxoyl.
See the row of spot welds along the sill? That's part of the safety cage that was unique to the 3.5, trouble is, the sills rot out here as yours has done, due to the sunroof drains
Patches cause sills to rot out faster than ever so I really recommend some wax in there mate.

Re: 2 litre si and xr2i rep, roose hoses & anti roll bar convo
got a update here my mate sean came down and ripped the exhaust off for me
then i stripped all the heat sheilds off and took the gearlinkage off

and so i could then see how the power steering leak had destoyed the cars underseal

most of it just wiped off :hmm: so i then re painted it using hammerite and re undersealed it
also got my new poly bush top mounts

and fitted my si gearlinkage rods one of which has been modified....to the bnm quickshift

then i fitted it to the car

and completed feels really good  is a shame ive put the gaiter over it but looks more finished then

also put my arch liners in with stainless steel washers and screws and clean them before fitting and painted my front brakes black

headgasket kit still hasnt come in at fords yet should be here next week
and now the runabout i mopped it came up so well wish i had done it earlier

but now it has a lot of problems with it a cloncky sounds if i push on the suspension not sure if its a top mount of cv joint :? can hear it as its going along defo not wishbones as there new, the other side has a cv gaiter that has split the boot realease isnt working both crank seals are leaking and the sump is getting pretty rusty, the spi unit is still playing up and its 7k over due a service needs 2 tyres and tracking doing mot due in 2 months and gotta sort the si outs....just ticked over to 136000 miles tho

aww man thats one too many issues to keep you happy with a run around, is the Si any closer to getting on the road? if so you can swap the roles till you sort the run around
theyre both looking great though, did i mention this is one of my favorite Si's?

update here
had a lot of problems with my runabout which my mates sean and jam know about
one of the top nuts snapped off when i was putting the proper top nuts on so i had to order another new gmax shock which i was gutted about but..... they sent me 2 instead of one so sean and jam slapped them on for me cheers guys
also had a new cv joint fitted and one new top mount from my si and another water pump grr last one lasted 6 months
and had the exhaust adjusted as it was hitting the front anti roll bar, 2 new tyres and track rod ends
got mot within the next 2 weeks cant see it failing on much to be honest fingers crossed
also got some powder coated parts which i bought from jam for the si, also got wishbone carriers and front anti roll bar to come

nicer than the old one lol (ignore the saxo wheel in the background

also the headgasket has arrived now so in the next few weeks in head will be coming off

Yea I know I weren't pleased, it was toughgetting it home with the tax leaking heavily as it was,
But it hast got much to show for it, a dented bonnet too to be replaced and a few dents in the slam panel where I was bending it straight
