Hmm, wasn't aware of that. Will look at mine when I swap my clocks to the new car.

Thinking about it, MK4 ones fit the MK3 cable, so I'd be surprised?

In, speedo swapped to my original one and all lights working. Going to have a go at taking the clear plastic from my old clocks so I can put it on these to get rid of the hole. The plastic is also better condition. Just hoping I can get the little connector I need so I can wire up the rev counter.

Cable looks identical to the dremel flex shaft :P

Don't try swapping the perspex, they nearly always break!

You can swap the odometer unit if you're really careful so you can keep your mileage straight and use the 140mph speedo :)

I wasn't aware the mk3's had missing wiring  fair enough.

Aslong as your careful with the clips and gentle you will be fine changing the clear plastic screen iv done it loads of times swapping bits about,
Also as per the speedo cable my mk3.5 has he push on type and has been fine with the original clocks RST xr2i clocks and mk4 clocks :-? Unless I'm just lucky

If you have any need for any parts for the clocks let me know I have 1 or 2 complete clocks sat around doing nothing :)

Christina :Would it not read incorrect speed?

Nope. I'm sure nearly all Ford speedos operate on 1000 revolutions per mile!

Still, I'd rather have the clocks where the top speed is past vertical, even just a little :P the idea of never getting past vertical on the speedo is just depressing :P

if it will still read the correct speed then i take it ford altered the magnet strength between the 120mph and 140mph speedos? because on the fiesta mk1 although there are 80mph, 100mph and 140mph speedos available, all counting at 1000rpm per mile there are speedo drive gears with varying numbers of teeth to suit each of the 3 speedos :-? i believe these being 18, 19 and 20t

The speedo drives are to cater for the difference in wheel sizes.

so its the strength of the magnet within the speedo itself that makes the difference?

I can't believe how much of a difference this makes to the car! So much more comfortable, and I can get in and out somewhat easily! :D

It really needs lowering!

Removing the rubbing strips turned out to be a lot more effort than we'd hoped. So the residue will be removed over the next few days :P

Dddddrip! Sump gasket at the crankshaft pulley and possibly the nearside drive shaft oil seal leaking.

The path doesn't like getting lubricated though! Seems to need a new sump.

I would imagine it's just gaskets rather than the sump?? The rocker cover gaskets nearly always leak as well because people over tighten them!!

So...

I'm getting this now so the fiesta has to go :/

Image

The leak is still there I've not got around to sorting it. Only it's coming from the flywheel end of the sump now.

Anyone got an idea of what the car's worth in it's current state? Just need to get rid. :(

It's amazing, only rust on the car I could find was a few bubbles on the valance. I'm getting it from my uncle (to the left in the picture) for a pretty good price too.
