RS_seg :what servo is that mate?

It is from a Sport Ka. It has a 23mm MC – I’m going to see if there is a bolt on 25mm version available.

mondeo and escort mk3 are too big they hit the mtx mount.

the sport ka one looks like it sit closer to the bulkhead, which might work with my set up. :Q

It's the same situation for us all with the MTX :D I had a Focus ST170 servo to go on, but it's too large. In any case the Sport Ka Servo is plenty large enough for the Mk3 - all the benefit comes from a suitable MC bore size.

Digital Dial Mk4, Mk5, Puma and Ka have shortened mounting brackets to suit the MY2001 Servo upgrade.

The Sport KA uses an ATE cylinder, so I will check out some French cars for a match.

does the shortened mounting brackets mount up the same as the mk3? as in the four bolt holes on the bulkhead.

Front Turret reinforcement and brackets for a strut brace.
Card template:

Parts fabricated and fitted:

The filler work on top of the turret was only a quick job asit's not a priority right now. I'm going to send the car away for a concourse paint job when I've finished fabricating.

paint just the bay or the entire car?

that be a shame to waste your personal painting efforts :(

how effective do you predict them reenforcements to be?
they do look a bit "weedy" compared to some other oem braces ive seen

Jon, I think my turrets look nice and friendly

Parts update.
PAS Pump bracket and water pump pulleys, Focus RS (right) and standard (left). The FRS pump is driven at a higher crank ratio than the standard pump due to a smaller diameter pulley, and the PAS bracket is required to clear the larger FRS water pump body.
Image

New Focus RS gear cables, 'lift up reverse' collar and short-shift gear mechanism.
Image

Focus RS cam cover heat shield, oil breather heat shield, and water rail.
Image

I also collected the new wheels. Tyre choice is Eagle F1 195/45/16
Image
Image

Even though the crank driven HPAS pump fits I have decided to use an EHPAS system, because I like the idea of a)reduced parasitic drag on the engine, and b) more weight shifted to the rear of the car. The pump will be mounted in the boot along with the dry sump tank, fuel system, and battery.

i was also looking into electric power steering.i was looking at the saxo/106 pump ,but it looks a bit weighty.
would have to mount it in the boot as well, you seen the space in my engine bay.

first time you floor it those turrents will fail and the whole front of the car will fall off.

nice wheels btw, they mean you have a massive, long 'conquering device'. :D

Thanks all.

Seg - I had a looking at wiring diagrams before choosing this and I came to the conclusion that this doesn't need an ECU. I prefer the look of this over the other pumps on the market - the engineering looks a lot more modern and I know the Focus steering is very good, so the level of assistance should be spot on and close to the Fiesta.

P.S. If you're interested the power loom is FINIS 1385923. I got one from eBay for £10 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0630572827

If your battery is already in the boot then wiring is very straight forward; you will require a decent fused relay for the +ve feed, and the relay trigger should be from a connection that is live only when the engine is running, otherwise you risk rinsing the battery if the ignition is in position II without the engine running.

P.P.S. I would recommend a 90Amp alternator for this.

There isn't a bolt on OEM 90amp available for the Zetec Fiesta, though there may be an an after market ICE version. I converted my old Si Zetec alternator to 90amp by stripping it down and swapping across the windings from a 90amp Escort Alt that was based on the same chassis.

Bespoke front cross member to increase room ahead of the engine so that I can fit a large Intercooler and radiator.

The standard front end with a cosmetic metal valance that is exposed on lower spec models.
Image

Behind the valance is a box section cross member made from pressed 1mm sheet:
Image

The Si has a deep front bumper and so the valance is superfluous. I removed the valance along with the original cross member:
Image

Removed:
Image
Image

The material of choice for the new crossmember is 30mm diameter, 3mm wall CDS tube. The standard cross member is on the left, and the CDS on the right:
Image

I had the CDS bent to my spec, and fabricated some brackets at each end along with matching brackets & captive fittings on the shell:
Image

Bolted in (I'm not yet finished: there will be four more fixings added):
Image
Image

For added protection against grounding I let the new cross member sit 10mm below the bottom edge of the bumper.
Image

The result is a great deal of space (in Fiesta terms) liberated at the front end, both in terms of depth and length. I can even trim 20mm from the rear face of the bumper and still the car would look standard from the outside.
