Where have I been, Mark?! This has moved on a bit! As already said, the car is a real credit to you and you should be very proud of what you have built. It goes to show what can be done to an old car with a little imagination.

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Rear End 29/12
Rear Coilovers Fitted
I had some used top mount retainers zinc plated, which restored them perfectly.

V3 in place. It's interesting to note that the damper body is around twice the diameter of the OEM part.

Rear Suspension & Subframe Built
I applied grease to all bolt shanks and the reverse of bolt & nut heads.

Rear Brakes Test Fit
Everything has gone together nicely save for powder coat reducing clearance in a few places, which is to be expected. The only modification I need to make is to move the handbrake cable bracket slightly to clear the AP calipers.

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Rear End Fitted 31/12
Thanks guys for the comments, it's nice to hear feedback. I'm really happy with how this is turning out and together with what I have planned for the front end should equal something quite tunable.
I'll just say that this part was a bit of an extravagance
Sorry but I barely have enough time to work on my own car.
Thanks Rob. There are photos of the subframe and chassis modifications starting on page 24.
I'd say five weeks. I'm waiting for AP to deliver a new set of bobbins for the rear discs, and I've got the handbrake cable and brake lines to fit.

Pry bar
I've designed everything on the car so that the standard beam and suspension are just bolt ons, so the Focus rear suspension can be considered the 'track spec'.

Excursion ::lol: Anyone know if the Mk3 qualifies for classic insurance yet?
Depends on the insurer and the age and model of it. RS turbos and xr2is older than 21 stand a good chance. Yours um... 80% of the car is brand new so technically you could register the car for a 13 plate at this rate!

Ahh, mine is 'only' 17 this year. For now I'll stick with Adrian Flux on their modified policy.

I think threshold for some is 15 years, sky insurance in Enfield are very good. I've got 2 cars and public liability insurance for the lorry driving with them too

sky wouldn't insure me because i built my engine, dont have an engineers report and couldn't provide enough details for the doner car the engine came from

I had no engineers report or anything for a 2 litre focus engine in a fiesta, they didnt even ask what focus the engine came from! lol

Sky didn't bother asking for report for mine either. Every mod declared no problem, strange how its different for others.
Brilliant build, this car is amazing.
