Why not go for a gtx3071r mark?
Heard nothing but positive about them.
Cheaper as well.

I was going for the 3076 originally but I think the EFR has proven itself as a step up. Mark Shead has been singing their praises for a while and he gets some fantastic results on Evo's, plus I trust his work. The EFR more expensive but its designers set out to build the ultimate performance turbo. The spec is dual ceramic ball bearings, titanium turbine wheel and shaft, billet compressor wheel, stainless housing, and high flow wastegate. From memory the only thing unusual on the GTX is the billet compressor wheel.
The GTX series was supposed to be really good but from what I can tell the improvements are only in line with the size differences between them and the regular GT. The EFR has shown itself to come on boost earlier and maintain boost beyond the equivalent GTX.

Hi mate, excellent progress! I was just looking over the brake rebuild...how did you get the pistons out? Did you use compressed air or another method?
Im looking into getting my AMG 8 pot/4 pot calipers powder coated and people are saying to remove the dust seals etc...but ive never done it before so looking for some advice if possible?

Becareful with compressed air they can come out with a bit of a bang sometimes which will make you jump. Put the caliper in a vice as it will save you dropping it when it pops.

You don't need that much power. I've used a foot pump held over the bleed nipple and shoved my thumb in the hose hole. Increase pressure and the cylinder comes out with a little pop.

I used under a bar of pressure to get them out which was just enough to start them moving. Keep an old rag on the opposite side of the caliper to cushion the piston when it comes out.

You done well getting the pistons out that easy. When i done mine i had over 4bar in them and one in each caliper wouldn't move.had to get a grease gun on the bleed nipple and fill them up and use that system to get them out.little safer than air pressure but makes more mess lol

The Fiesta has taken a back seat whilst I play around with another car, though I have managed to track down a new set of wheels. These are the rare 7J x 16 ET35 offset version of the Cosworth style wheels, and are the same fitment as the Mk3 Fiesta. This version is slightly more dished and the spokes are thicker, which is great, as I find the spokes on the more common 6.5J x 16 ET40 version tend to look a little spindly.

The wheels will be refurbished soon.
In more exciting news I have a new industrial unit

My Dad was the Architect for the development and the developer is his best client so it was all sorted with minimal effort. It has a heated toilet room and a little kitchen area - amazing. I can't wait to add some automotive paraphernalia to the walls and maybe get a lift installed! It will be the ideal home for a classic, too.

Re: MWSTEWART | 500+ BHP Project | Misc 10/02
I have modified the rear anti roll bar to suit the 100mm reduction in width of the Focus subframe. The ARB bushes locate onto flats on the ARB itself, so I have reproduced these flats 50mm closer inwards on each side. The bar and bush brackets have been powder coated.

I also had the brake back plates re-powder coated as I wasn't happy with the finish on the last set. The smears reflecting light are from hub grease I hadn't yet wiped off. The photo also shows the brand new rear spindles fitted, these I have painted in a cast finish paint.

Next came the laborious job of rebuilding four calipers with a total of 20 pistons. I used a scotch pad on all mating surfaces, re-tapped all threads, and used air to clean all cavities. New seals were soaked in brake fluid and I used silicon grease as a bedding compound for the those in order to prevent corrosion. All caliper hardware was replaced including wear shims, pad retainers, bleed nipples, bolts, and fluid tubes.

New bobbin kits from AP are used all round.

Here's everything fitted including new wheels studs and grease cap. I'm now happy with the look and positioning of all components.

Some installation shots.

Fantastic work as always mate! I'd love to have the skills to make my Fiesta look as good as yours.
One question for you. I have an S2 LSD to put in my box and like you can't find a 5th gear puller for less than £100 and was wondering if you could give me some dims of the 5th gear lip that the puller bears on so I can look to fabricate something myself?
Cheers in advance

Hi Paul, I couldn't find one at all. I would rather have a ready made tool - where did you find one out of interest?
The one I made was from 2mm steel and there are no real dimensions - it was just knocked up quickly using an angle grinder to fashion a round hole to grip the gear. It wasn't particularly scientific
Cheers,
Mark

For the regular stuff machine mart are awful or expensive. Until you come to need a gem like this tool, then they're awesome.
