Excursion :
ianFRST :how did you get them spare wheel brackets off :D

i had a quick look, but decided against wrecking my car in order to remove them

There wasn't enough room to get the drill/spot weld bit in there. I chopped off the top with the angle grinder then ground off what was left. It took around an hour :)

yup thats how i did mine to, not a too bad a job really, the other side of the hanger was the bugger i found!

looking good mate let hope you crack on this weekend with loads of pics :D

Point of note: the top bellhousing bolt centres are at 135mm - exactly the same as the Ford Zetec, Interesting!

word of advice mate, replace the clutch slave cylinder, and when installing the box prefill it with fluid, so that some sqwirts out, if you get an air lock in there, they are a real real nightmare

How high will the prop output be in comparison to the floor of the car as a matter of interest?

Very nice, what mower do you use on your grass and how do you keep it looking so dry in this poor weather?

Seriously though - can't wait to see all this stuff being modified to fit the Ford setup, will be awesome when done :D

Cool to see all this progress. Interesting point about the gearbox location, should come in handy when adapting the bellhousing to suit. Looking forward to seeing the fabrication work coming up on the underside i must say. Keep up the good work sir. :)

coming on brilliantly fella. thats an interesting thing about the top gearbox mounts being the same width apart. does the main shaft centre up with the engine.

James-UK To be honest, no i haven't, but I don't want to as 1)it'll makes things too easy and 2)I want to keep everything 'Ford' as much as possible :)

Ian Nice one, I'll remember that. Cheers!

Boris lol he loves it, a high cholesterol sl@g

Mr Steve No idea our kid, not til e in car like :)

andyhardy lol!! Yeah I've killed the grass by walking on it too much (between the house and garage)

Ian Yep agreed, I'll do my best mate :Q

JJ Now that I can't answer atm, more than likely not...I may be pleasantly suprised though!

Cheers everyone else for the support, there's a lot of love in here tonight :Q Will get up some more interesting pics soon, with some stuff I've made.

Just a quick question, did you make your own caliper brackets to utilise the FRS Brembos or are they the ZooMotorsport ones. If they are the zoo ones, whats the quality/fit etc of them?IE did the calipers still require machining to fit under 16's or seriously throw the offset off?

muz - my own mate, I had the wheels and calipers machined. VERY tight fit under 16's, I'd recommend a 320mm disc.

Ollie No prob!

I've been pretty slack with the car recently, not done anything for weeks! Got stuck back in this past few days though stripped the remainder of the underseal, exposed the seams and welded them.

I'm going all out with the seam welding, going beyond what would normally be done...but every little helps :)

As above but with the welds cleaned:

How useful being able to work on the car on its side like that, the benefits of spit-roasting it are enormous! Imagine trying to clean off the underside, then weld all that lot with it up in the air, straining around underneath it!! Do you fancy a Norris Designsesque chopping and lowering of the A, B and C pillars to reduce weight and C of G? Keep on with it matey, a lot of satisfying stuff yet to come :)
