Hi everyone, yes I've cracked the tools open and paid my much-neglected Fez a visit today! :)

Those nice-looking fuel system components that I had laying on my passenger seat for months are now fitted! :D

Siemens 630cc injectors now fitted with the fuel rail:

Goodridge 200-series -6 hose and connectors are all connected up to the fuel filter, Sytec FPR and return line:

Not 100% happy with the filter being where it is but it had to be relocated due to the Focus Transmission mount stealing its original home.

There's also some mundane (but essential) tasks that need completing, one of which was to fit two of the bottom bolts on the inlet to the head and torque them all up (I'd just dummy-fitted it and left it before  ) - this ended up taking more time than planned as I had to remove the PAS pump to get to one of them! :x

I'm ordering the Gotech Pro-X engine management next week, along with fuel pump, some coilovers, boost pipes, new tyres, and a host of other bits and pieces so things are looking up!

Well spotted mate - it's Ford Modena green :) I remember being in Halfords trying to decide between that one and a near-identical R#ver shade but obviously the Ford shade won! :bonkers:

You're right there mate - I'm not happy with that huge FRST/'2i Filter on show! I've looked into getting a billet filter with -6 AN/Jic fittings but I need to do something with the fuel feed line to the filter as that is a metric banjo union and I don't want to replace all the lines on the car with Goodridge hose and fittings :(

Cheers mate :) Yeah the fuel rail is the standard Yank Focus 2.0/2.3 Duratec steel item (same as UK Mondeo 2.0/2.3 Duratec) - The standard ends were chopped off and -6 weld-on fittings er... welded on :)

Just bought a Sytec "F1" (their name for it not mine :P ) Hi-flow billet fuel filter - mine has -6 AN/Jic fittings not the push-fit ones shown, should improve the aesthetics of my engine bay slightly! :Q

Image

... a nice M14 X 1.5 female to -6AN Male anodised adaptor from Earls:

Image

...and a female -6 to female -6 to join that adaptor to the fuel filter (there was no female M14 x 1.5 to female -6 available on Earls or anywhere else I looked which was a bummer as it would have made things more simple! )

Image

Can't wait to fit this little lot in - cost a few quid but will be in-keeping with the rest of the build :)

Erm deep breath..... :oooh:

Buy Gotech Pro X ECU with base map from Jamsport + Fit it to the car, wire everything up etc.

Buy and fit partial Focus loom and ecu to drive the FRS dash instruments.Buy and fit all boost hoses / hard pipes and air filter

Buy / fit 255 LPH Walbro fuel pump

Get driveshafts sent off to Recoprop (or Cober engineering in Colchester if they quote me happy!) then fit them.

Buy / fit some new front lower arms

Buy & fit coilover suspension

Buy some nice new tyres (I sold my original RS2K rims and bought the polished ones that are now on the car - unfortunately they have "ditchfinder" tyres on! :aaah: )

Finish some miscellaneous bits & pieces off (i.e get a drive belt that actually fits, adjust the gear linkeage, fit a Focus clutch pipe, bleed hydraulics, finish off heater coolant pipes....)

Need to buy/fit an oil catch tank

Fit revised turbo oil return connector (to clear exhaust) alread in hand...

Fit new fuel filter

Sort out a remote reservoir for the PAS system as the bonnet won't close over the MK6 Fez ST item!

Should have all this done by 2094! :bonkers:

Realisticly by Christmas, maybe sooner. - Most of the things I've listed above are being ordered this week so MASSIVE progress is just around the corner! :aviator:

At long last I've finally got around to finishing my front bumper :) As the car now has the Radtec FMIC fitted - I needed to cut the "numberplate part" of the bumper out using an airsaw, then re-shaped the bottom & side edges of the aperature using fibreglass and plastic filler. The bumper was then rubbed down, primed, painted and lacquered.

It's not perfect and just a DIY effort for now as I couldn't justify the cost of a bodyshop when I've still got the ECU and other bits to pay for! :oooh:

Image

On the subject of ECU's I thought my luck was in on ebay today - I found a Gotech Pro-X ECU & Loom for £350 "buy it now" and it had only been listed for about 1 hour - I quickly checked my bank balance with the intention of buying it and when I went back onto Ebay some lucky sod had already bought it!!! :x :x

Ah well - looks like I'm still going to pay Jamsport the full whack this week after all then  Still, at least thay're putting me a bespoke base map onto it for my exact engine spec so not all bad.

Just got an email back from Jamsport which was quite pleasing:

Gotech Pro-X ECU
Loom
Map sensor
Base Map (For my exact engine spec)
Spark Plugs (for Duratec-turbo application)
Postage

£880

Sounds good to me, so I'll be ordering it in the next day or so and the car will be taking another step closer to completion :aviator:

Cheers for the kind words guys :) Last night I had a late one in the workshop getting the modified bumper fitted - NOT as straightforward as I thought it was going to be! :aaah:

Remember it's a S2 RST Radtec intercooler (that a friend donated for £0.00 :Q ) so fitting was never going to be straightforward on a MK3 Fez. It's over towards the nearside a tad so unfortunately is not central in the bumper aperature which is something I will just have to live with for now - I think the full-width Pro-alloy rad doesn't help matters! I'll just add a thin strip of aluminium behind the bumper to cover the gap.

Also, I need the black rubber strip that clips to the bottom of the bumper as mine's seen better days - anyone here got a spare they can sell me? :-?

Image

Image

Also the paint-match isn't brilliant but acceptable for now, being a DIY effort done in my garden shed! :oooh: When I've got the car running and roadworthy I'll direct funds back to the cosmetics.

Finally some absolute C*NT has hit the back of the car!!! :x :x :x I pushed it into the welder's garage to work on it last night and noticed that nasty gouge/dent on the tailgate and I felt my blood pressure go stratospheric! :x I don't think it's a malicious attack (i don't think I have any enemies at work! :oooh:) - It looks as if a metal stake or earth-spike has been allowed to fall against the car and slide down the tailgate - Yet more bodywork to pay for! Sometimes it's a real bummer having a metallic car...

Bit of an update - I managed to find some hard boost pipes in the scrappy today and bought them on the off chance they may be of some use to me. Much to my surprise they fit amazingly well, almost as if they were designed for my very own car! :D Just need to run a bead of weld around (the open join you can see in the pic) so that I have a continual "hard pipe" from the compressor all the way to the intercooler :)

Image

Image

Image

I managed to get a Focus clutch pipe from the same scrappy too as the Fiesta MK5 one I have in the car already does not fit the Focus MTX 75 hydraulic clutch cylinder (see pic below). The MK5 Fez one is at the top:

Image

The problem is that I need half the MK5 Fez pipe from the clutch pedal and half the Focus pipe from the clutch cylinder! Luckily there's a place in Colchester that makes up custom hoses pretty cheaply so I'll be paying them a visit soon...

Been having ongoing issues trying to get a suitable aux drive belt and have now got one that fits - a 6pk 2175 (for anyone else that fancies doing the same conversion! :bonkers: )

Image

As I previously mentioned, the Fiesta MK6 PAS reservoir that normally mounts directly on top of the PAS pump can't be fitted in my car due to it stopping the bonnet from closing :( I bought a Focus MK1 PAS reservoir (yes, from the scrappy! :P ) today and this is going to be mounted where I'm holding it in the pic below:

Image

Lastly I bought some "EV1" standard injector connectors for my Siemens injectors (same as normal Bosch type injectors) as the Yank duratec injectors have these weird connectors that don't fit the Siemens/Bosch injectors.

Image

The best bit is that all this (except the drive belt, that was also £15 from Partco) only cost £15! :Q

As you can see I'm still waiting for the Sytec Fuel filter - hopefully it'll be here tomorrow...

Managed to get the clutch pipe problem sorted today :)

For just £7.00, Hosequip in Colchester chopped the two hoses and then joined the MK5 Fiesta master cylinder end to the Focus MK1 slave cylinder end.

Image

Not the most enthralling of updates but let's face it - I'm going nowhere without it! :aaah:
