Re: M4D RST Track Fiesta Feb29 -update
Well what to report then hey.... lots has been happening as some may know from the update in Fast Ford.
From next month it starts to get juicy but here are a few pics of how the car looks at present.

Modified the bailey tank and added another take-of/return.. the top one will be the return from the turbo and the other will be for the return from the thermostat housing, the pipework will see a huge change around and routed the cleanest tidiest way as to keep things looking minimal.

Good friend Clive has been hired every Saturday for his alloy welding skills which are exquiste to say the least.
Today we were fiddling with the exhaust manifold as this needed modifing to fit the turbo in the engine bay.
Also tracked down this bad boy for the inlet which is a brand new genuine ford t.b for a 2.5 mondeo. Very very very trick throttle cable also to go with this which i have made from cnc alloy casing which can take a crazy 360 loop in required and still run as smooth as if straight. post that up soon..

The new shape one which ever that may be mate.
Needs to be that size to flow the air mate when you see the size of the turbo.

Re: M4D RST Track Fiesta 14-03 -update
Here we can see the original manifold flange that had a t3 size flange fitted, these needed to be lobbed off to have the t25 size GT30 flange welded on.
but the turbo also needed to be re-positoned to locate it further forward in the engine bay and allow the downpipe to flow down the back of the engine bay.
the original manifold from Area - 6

the modified end

and where all parties join to one

Re: M4D RST Track Fiesta 15th March - New pics
Well a few weeks ago the intercooler arrived from Pro Alloy and as you can see its rather large to say the least and i can assre you, you will NOT ever get a larger one in a mk3 fiesta..

With a great deal of fabrication work on the shell the cooler is mounted and fits perfectly. However i no longer need the modified bumper, im able to fit a totally standard bumper on the car which has the original grill slat. The hunt is on for one as mine was cut for the last intercooler i had.
With the cooler mock fitted it looks something like this

One slight issue is that lovely sticker staing " TOW" actually points to thin air as due to the gearbox size i cant run the frst cadle which has the towing eye on it..... fabricating one soon i think

Come on mate you should know me by now.....
Would i even consider having such a large intercooler if i didnt have a large rad to fit behind it
The rad is exactly the same width and 67mm narrower in height to allow the top intercooler pipe through the gap.
2 x 10inch fans on the back will suck any extra air through, and the intercooler/rad are mounted to one another to force the air through both to stop any turbulant air between the two
The best part is the turbo sits over the gearbox so no more turbos wanting to sit in the rads face.

Cheers mate, we have modified the exhaust manifold to get a better exit angle for the gases and to relocate the turbo further away from the gearbox mount on the top.
All sits lovely now, as best as can be anyway, its not the easiest of fitments but it looks neat.
Im kinda scared though im turning into a Bufty...

Looks like a fairly interesting project, Should be a giggle on the track.
I've never been a fan of those exhaust manifolds myself. However they do what they say on the tin.

Function over fashion always, but yes i would have preferred an equal length manifold to be honest but it works best as relocates the turbo away from the rad and enables the gt30 to sit happily.

I definately agree with the turbocharger location, it's an empty void of space, it's best to make use of it. Especially on the fiesta where space is limited!
Definately equal length would have been an improvement, plus that collector looks none too hot. Did you consider a custom manifold as a matter of interest?

Re: M4D RST Fiesta - Intercooler
If any i would have Primary Designs fabricate one for the car and probably use inconel.
I have improved on the internals on the collector above and the new runner from collector to turbo flange is alot more benefical to the flow chareteristics from the 4 primaries. I wont notice any difference as not dynod as was on my engine, but it can only aid in flow.
Just fabricating a stainless rose jointed turbo damper at present as there is alot of weight swigning around.
