Re: Project "K80" ZT - Yellow Update (18/04)
Braved that bitter wind this evening and got the induction hoses (mostly) fitted. The blue one is a temporary one until the yellow one is made, 3 week lead time
Intercooler to Inlet in this one:

Turbo to intercooler route is there but I need a longer straight pipe (vertical) to fit it properly, a mock fit plus an idea of where the air filter will go. Excuse the mess...

Other general news... The manifold/turbo joint is blowly pretty badly from around the bottom/left bolt. Unsure why, perhaps the 2 aren't completely squared up or something.
Insurance refused to change my windscreen... bad decision considering the renewal is 6 weeks away!
Wiring is mostly complete too. Just need to alter the new fan relay, fans themselves and sort out the problem with the temperature sensors reading a full 5v each!
Sadly won't be at FITP
RS Combe is the next target which is July 6th so should be done by then, painted too!

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Yellow Update (18/04)
It doesn't have a certain exhaust component which will cause the fail on 2 accounts
Once it's running, I'll get the map looked at and checked it's safe for road use, get a few steady miles on it then go in for the full map session

Re: Project "K80" ZT - WTF! (19/04)
So, investigation into my blowing gasket turned out to be a HUGE bow/gap in the joint, what the actual f**k?!

Also, the engine's just pumping pure fuel straight down the exhaust, stinks. Brand new O-rings and top hat seals on the injectors too *sigh*. Might swap them out for the Nissan ones.
One day something will go right!

A quick skim on a milling machine will sort that quickly mate, not sure about the fueling tho

damn thats bowed! i havent run a turbo with gasket between it for years. always blow themselves out in no time..as for the over fueling ,did you set the injector scaling to suit your injectors? set throttle angle?

Re: Project "K80" ZT - WTF! (19/04)
Thinking about it, in the basemap notes it says 320 or 330cc injectors (can't remember)... these are 440cc
I'm hoping to try and get that bow machined flat but it looks really bad!

Re: Project "K80" ZT - WTF! (19/04)
it does look bad
as yours is k6 and mines k3 it might not be the same but simple to change..plug the laptop in to ecu, open map file and go to the ecu config. find injector scaling and adjust to suit.save to ecu,job done.. did you set the throttle?, wide open then shut with ecu powered up?

Re: Project "K80" ZT - WTF! (19/04)
I haven't set the throttle but when testing on the ECU it did register 1-2% on closed and 100% on fully open so it's there or thereabouts.
Hoping this bow does come out cos I can't afford to be buying more turbo parts!

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Soaked In Fuel (20/04)
So yeah, I removed the turbo and manifold to get skimmed... the turbo flange is terrible, can actually feel the bow by touch!
Also discovered the ports and valves on the exhaust side are soaked in fuel too, almost in small puddles :'(
Even if the ECU was set to the wrong size injectors it wouldn't be this bad surely?! I had brand new O-rings and top hat seals fitted with them too so the injectors themselves must be leaking? Meh!

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Soaked In Fuel (20/04)
Have a look at your plugs, if they are a bit black its certainly over furling. The difference in fueling will make a massive difference between those injectors so change the ecu settings for sure!

best thing you can do is sort the turbo, get it running to a degree and then get it mapped.. mine ran fine till i sorted loads of air leaks then ran rich as fook! killed a set of rs plugs in a hour

Check the pressure regulator if you do rule out a calibration issue.

Re: Project "K80" ZT - Rad, Fans + Bumper (21/04)
Nowhere near as tidy as Max's installment recently but they're in
Twin 8" fans installed, wired and working:

Radiator reverse-bolted in. Note: Old rubbers are under each penny-washer.

Intercooler back in front:

Bonnet refitted, bumper cut out further and fitted:

Everything looking nice and cosy!

Interior also completely refitted too, forgot to get a photo of that but you can imagine!
I still need to tidy the intercooler cutout and smooth it all down again, also refitting the splitter will create a nice cover.
Whilst other things are going to pot, progress is still being made
