I don't think the "Genuine FRST's Only" is a good idea, there are too many cars that aren't FRST's or even MK3 Fiestas. Do we even have 12 active members with good photo's of thier FRST's?

I have to agree with that
There may well be more than 12, but how many are actually in a road worth condition, as there are a few that are being restored, etc at the moment.

You can have a pretty picture of mine as long as i can be February...
Two things tho...
1. I'm not getting my bits out... it can be a picture of my car and nothing else
2. Its not genuine, but looks it...

i think it should be open to all mk 3's.if it was only frst cars then the manj and m40 rst wouldnt be able to feature as they are rs 1800's and they are top cars which should feature.could always have to pics on each month if there is alot of pics worthey.

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
was just about to add a poll, then see this thread had been moved into the web site discussons room "the site", even though this has nothing to do with the features or running of the site
unfortunatly from what ive seen not many members tend to visit this room so that might explain the lack of replys from other members, could a mod maybe move this back to gen?
i know its not about cars, but its about the memebers and something from the members for the members and hopfully to raise a bit of money for chairty, and maybe get the site a bit of a plug in a mag or something?
i just think that it would get more views and response being in the most vistied room on the forum, that being general car discussion where the thread about the keyrings is.

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
A poll of what though ? You haven't clearly defined what the calendar is going to be of, what the selection criteria will be or what its actual purpose will be. Theres a toss up beween a girlie calendar, a blokey calendar or a car calendar as far as I can see, and only one of those is to do with cars at all. A lot of people visit the non-general forums, but they tend to post more thoughtfully...
Anyway, sort that little lot out and I'll globally sticky you a thread in general (so long as the other mods thing that it's a fair thing to do).
My 10p on it is...
If you decide the calendar is going to be of cars, do a poll in the general forum to measure interest (a simple, would you want your car to be featured, it will mean attending both FF and FITP, yes or no) should give you a good idea of how many people will want to enter, obviously remember you'll need either 6, 12 or 24 cars and that's actually quite a lot to get.
Once you've done that you should organise to hit FF and FITP en masse and do a proper, organised paper poll of people going round to the show to select the cars to go on - that way you widen the scope to the cars that have actually been seen close up and not from digitally processed photos... Once you've got the results it's fairly simple to proceed.
Anyway I meant to put this in off topic (damned trackpads) as the criteria for the calendar hadn't been sorted out, I'll shunt it over there now.
EDIT : I don't think there's enough girls on FT to do a calendar tbh, however there's plenty of blokes. It'd be worth asking the ladies over on GR to help with the promo if you decided to do a blokey calendar

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
the girly one was a laugh, didnt think anyone would go for it, females that is
as for a bloke calander, seeing as theres loads of blokes on the forum i dont think another guy (well maybe heeman
it will be a car one, owner of the car can be in it if they so wish, or there girlfriend, but yeah its about cars and mainly cars.
the polls at the shows are a good idea, i was gunna look up that thread about 10 of the best or what ever it was called when people posted about cars they liked on the site etc.
might just start another tbh mate
i likes the idea with it being part of the paid memembers competition, but it sort of limits it to just paid members then.
unless anyone that send s pic is open for the calendar and only the paid memebers are in the competition, but then again, with the voting for the comp etc it might bring too many people in on it and you know what they say about too many indians and not enough chiefs
but it could well work and tie in nice, ill have a word with adrian about it as he might already have something in the pipe lines etc.
cheers for moving it to off topic mate

As an aside, have you seen his Mrs?!
Back onto the main topic; you'd need two calendars for 2010: the first would have 8-10 high-end (RS/XR or substantially resembling same) cars and a couple of "example" modified other models, the second would be made up of the 12 biggest whingers about how their cars didn't get into the proper calendar. That is the only way this would work on this forum.
With the first calendar, it would be nice if proceeds could be donated to a charity (I nominate the East Anglia Air Ambulance), but the most important charities to be considered initially are the charities of Production Costs and Break Even. You'd only really sell to users of this site or enthusiasts that got wind of it, I'd want guarantees of 200% interest measured as a percentage of total costs, personally.
The second calendar could be printed on Epson paper and given away with the Big Issue or something.

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
If there is more than 11 top cars for the months Jan to Nov as am sure Dec would be a massive group pic - Then why dont you just have more than one car for each month ? Also I hope all the pictures of the cars will be taken at different locations and not just on a field at a car show ?
Though I have to agree only the top quality show/track/concors cars should go in the calander - Oh well ill just sit back and watch what happends over the next 12months
Oh yeah get that passionford one up i want a perv

and 75% of the cars here
True but it will just get silly if you make it a free for all and there will be alot of people who will sulk... after all... you can only have 11 cars, if you are having a group december picture...
I think it might be an idea to get a picture of one of the cars at an event in that month... ie... april's picture could be taken at centrals day... May's at FITP... and so on...
I was an idea til i couldnt think of anything that happens in Feb!!

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
Shell - I like the show per month idea - but then that limits you to whatever was at the show plus people will go to more than one show in order to try get seen. All you'd need is a bunch of old knackers turning up to make mediocre cars look good and this, really, should be a "best of the best" calendar. If we did polls via only the major shows then we could regionalise it a little I suppose but then the paperwork overhead is vast.
Vix - This was the first thing to cross my mind (right after "boobies"
). It's not right that you shoudl have wound up out of pocket and this could be far worse. This'd need at least cost + 50% covered by deposits for calendars in order to cover the cancellations and general twattishness that will arise.
Grant's also accurate - you need to be aiming for at least 100% profit to make it worthwhile. Costs can run a lot higher than anticipated. A sale price of £30 per unit for an A3 wall calendar would seem appropriate, though I've already enquired about price breaks and volume discounts from photobox who have a wide range of options - they offer A3 calendars for about £15 on a BOGOF offer at the moment, though I'm sure they'd offer some healthy discounting to FT for a fundraiser. I expect I'll know by Monday.

Maybe a poll on 6 FRSTs or something (for example JamieFRST's and Luca's cos you wouldn't get bored of staring at those for a month lol.) and the other 6 group/show photos? This way not only do you get the best of the best having their own feature but everybody else could be in a picture somewhere too.

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
wow, all i can say is that i didnt expect so much interest and input this quick, i have said about it before in the past and no one seemed willing to take it on, but none the less the interest seems very good so far so i need to step up and get something sorted as it's been pointed out that it needs to be made clear on whoes going to run this, so...
as it was my idea, i am taking it on and will sort this
if needbe, and more than likely, the cost of it would be fronted by myself, i dont expect any FT account to pay or people from the site/shows to chip in or what not, although as said i may well look into add sponsors.
if it all goes pete tong and i end up out of pocket, then thats down to me, but i would implement something to stop time wasters, because as we all know, time wasters do nothing but complicate things and in turn could be the make or break to something happening or not, so please, if you have no intention of buying a calendar, please do not say you will, no one will hold it against ya, ..........you tight fisted, no im kidding
, but no, if you aint gunna get one dont say you will, that way i can get a true idea of how much real interest there is.
but remember, profits will go to charity
with this sort of thing, there will be members that dont make it on to the calendar, and will feel a bit pi$$ed off, but i just want to say right now that it is nothing personal, and nothing to do with any one person not liking another, and dare i say it nothing to do with any form of "clicky group" whether it exist or not, its about cars and what cars can basically "sell" the calendar, so i ask everyone to respect that fact, and please dont get upset if your car is not selected.
i know a lot of you may not agree with this, but im being honest, i would of course expect my car to be in it as im sorting it out
right how to select whats goes and what doesnt.
i will add a poll to this thread shortly asking what goes on and what doesnt, after all some people on here dont have fiestas, others dont have mk'3s etc etc, but i will add that up shortly and see what happens
when the voting for cars go ahead.
first off, you must state if you want your car to be a nominee, please dont nominate other peoples cars, i will not pick any cars to go on the poll if you have not first asked for it to be on there, after all it is your car and your choice, no one elses, cant say fairer than that, so if you dont nominate your own car. you cant complain it was never included, maybe harsh, but fair.
you can nominate your car from now, there is no "closing date " for this as yet as its early days, but i will give a months notice of when the closing date is, but tbh, it will be a long way off, and i will close it prob a couple weeks/month before the dead line for printing is, that way everyone should get a chance to see this thread and nominate their car
the selection process will be done via polls on the site, and i will talk to show stand organisers about having some form of selection process at shows, if this is deemed a good idea, as some cars may in fact not be on the FT stand, some may be on RS owners club stands or some may not of been able to make it due to work etc, and we must bear in mind some/many of the show go'ers would not have any intention of buying a calendar..., but as i say i will talk with who ever is sorting the show stands this year and report back on it
plug in a mag..
i will be talking to a couple people on the site that write for known ford mags about maybe getting a free plug about this calendar in the mag, and maybe direct readers to not only this site, but to the thread with the voting so they can view all the pictures of the cars in the running and give there vote.
thinking about it, it might be best to see if maybe we can get a voting thread going where voters can remain annonymous and CANNOT edit there post to change there mind, and of course, only be allowed to vote once, something i think should be asked to adrian
anyhow,
when all polls are complete and votes done etc, the top ones will be selected, weather they be frst, rs1800, 1.1, xr2i, red, white, pink, 4 doors, black wheels, white wheels or what, the polls will select the final bunch, this is the most fairest way, and if any have a draw i will put up a post asking for 9 forum members, and the first 9 to reply will all vote on which one of the drawing pair is indeed selected, and i will not cast a vote over a drawing pair, it will be purely down to the first 9 members that reply, no matter who they are, fair yes?
im not going to do this to pass the buck, i will do so to make the selection process as fair as possible for all
i think i have covered everything so far, but please do keep the replys coming
as it was my idea, i am taking it on and will sort this

Re: how about a 2010 FT calendar?
Another idea I've had (2 in 1 day now!
)
I have a rollercoaster calendar from a few years back that has a "13th page." On this page is basically photos of 12 coasters that didn't make the featured 12 but were definitely worth taking a look at. So those who don't make it in the calendar but are still very nice could be featured here?

I have a rollercoaster calendar from a few years back that has a "13th page." On this page is basically photos of 12 coasters that didn't make the featured 12 but were definitely worth taking a look at. So those who don't make it in the calendar but are still very nice could be featured here?
thats a blinding idea! and one i think should be included
**edit** tweek just sent me a pic of it over msn, and here it is, i think its a winner idea in my book.

Some good ideas coming forward, I like the idea of the 13th page.
What happens if you try and start a poll? Is the function disabled?
Plus id like to put my RS forward
