cowie20 :the flange onto t3 manifold? its held up pretty well so far.
im not trying to be a c**t mate but your manifold is cast iron and you have welded a mild steel flange on with some really poor mig welding with little or no penetration at all ! add the to the fact that you then have a turbo hanging off it when its really hot and your exhaust system pulling it back and fourth every time you change gears i would say it just a matter of time.
p.s apart from that i love the look of your car :)

the weld has taken a pretty good hold as before i bolted the turbo to it we hit the sh!t out of it with a hammer and it held no problem, now done about 100 miles with some hard driving and still not a problem!

ill admit it doesnt look strong but it is. i have to take it all off again any way to fit new actuator, timing belt, head gasket and engine will be coming out to freshen up the bay! so when its off ill get it stick welded so at least it looks stronger and will be

yeah she has, it needs a good service, new brakes all round, track rod ends, bottom arms, front top mounts, steering gaitors, some more boost :) . going to get it all pro when i get onshore. it cost me a fortune keeping two turbos on road. hahaha it also needs petrol cap repair but garages want like 400 quid to sort.

any chance you could get it done cheaper :Q

ordering new rings just now, gaskets, oil pump, etc.....standard frst pistons...are they AE and flat top with a little flat bit at a edge? as burton shows the standard pistons as having a bowl in the pistons with a lip all around it.

do you know

i think mine have a flat bit on one side and its not a big flat bit...other than that they are flat. what should a standard bore measure....do i measure the bore on block or the flat face of piston?

ill need to get on phone to burton tomorrow and change my order

i cant remember the way to measure the piston.... think its across the gudgeon pin??.. 'might' say bore size on the rings? .. you really need a proper tool to measure the bore as you really need it measured at different increments down the bore..( this is just to check thats its ok).. ask burtons, the'll know... :)

dont think there was anything on thesem, but to be honest mate i dont think i really looked.
there was markings on the standard ones i removed, if yours have markings and letters/numbers what are they? as this will refur to what the piston size is mate

all good the rings had AE + 0.50mm stamped on top rings so not bad got them sorted now...the head that was ment to be a stage 3 is nothing more than a standard head with cam and pully! some one took the engine out that was the good one and replaced with near standard one! :x
