ford fiesta rs turbo, small update 3/1/11

Postby andymcd on Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:48 pm

i bought a black fiesta rs turbo off here it needed a gear box when i got it
put gearbox in it on the 9/11/08 was great until the clutch started to slip the clutch is like new but cant stand the power
that was ok till the brother was driving it a noise started to come from the engine
then i drove it started to smoke so popped the bonnet to find the breather had put oil out over the timing belt there was smoke coming out of it too
so i rang spec one engineering and he told me to start the car and let it tick over for a few minutes and take of the oil cap and if it dies out the engine is ok if it doesnt then the bottom end is f**cked so done this and the car dont die out so it pointed to one thing the bottom end is f**cked
the brother sayed to pulled the head off so i did to find two small round matel things will put pics up and top of the pistons have small chips will get pics up aswell and when i was buying the car the man told me it had a stage three head has it f**k so taking block out the morrow i got rebuild bottom end so its not to bad just need head done now :D and had a poke true under the carpet hole on drivers side be side the sill and passager side is the seem so need outer and inner sills on drivers side and just the outer sill on passager side will get get pics up
ok some pics of when i got it
Image
when i got it home and it needed a good clean heres some pics
Image
Image
Image
Image

its all the pics i have but will get pics up of the head and pistons and the rust commets welcome :D

Nope mine was the origanl 1.6 GSI engine that they put in at the factory  it had a 4branch and full magnex system add onto it and that was it - 130mph without the roof rack 120mph with the roof rack :bonkers: I had more fun in that thing round the country roads than people who owned 2ltr/Turbo Novas round my way any day

But now i've gone for a Valver Fiesta so it's all about straight road fun now

My Nova was dropped on coilovers with just a strutbrace under the bonnet and it stuck to the road round corners like glue even at 95mph+ something that I wouldn't even bother trying unless I wanted to carry straight on sideways round them corners in the Fiesta

If I had a stripped out fiesta with a rollcage that went threw to the engine bay and the right coilover set up then it would be a different story but I wouldn't do it in most of the Fiesta that people own on here would you ? then again I dont know what your country roads are like ? I live near Delermer Forest in the Northwest if you know it ?

no dont know it fella.

i got coil overs on my FRST and it handles just fine.

my XR2 mk2 on the other hand is on standard shocks and springs and handles just as well as the rs and would out see most around the corners even in standard form.
i dont care what anyone says, the mk2 xr2 is one of the best cars for handling there is and it loves country roads :Q

any how i really am a hard core nova hater, so you could never convice me that they were anything better than a metal box good enough for storing horse $hit

pimsle like you said at the end of it you have Novas just as much as I have Saxos

ill always consider buying another Nova even though I have a Fiesta now but id still keep the fez bomb so dont worry

I hope there is oil down the bores of that Cosworth engine! Spray the entire outside in WD40 to protect it.

As for your pistons, changes are they are worn - I never managed to find a CVH which wasn't, and that was in 2006. If they are still usable then you can have them skimmed, which would enable you to run 200 safelt. If youre not after CR drop then a corresponding head skim can level it back out.
