Clearing unread posts?
Why when I log into the website and then immeadiately close the window does the site mark all of the posts I have not read, as read???
Is there a way around this other than reading everything in one go?

Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

When you log in it checks the date you last visited and flags any posts after that date as new.
When you close the window this ends your session so the next time you log in you get posts that are between that and the time you log in not necesarrily all the posts you have not read
If that did happen then everyone would get thousands of posts in their view as when a newbie joined they would have every single post flagged as unread
Hope this clears it up

i always leave myself logged in, but sometimes the site logs me out. when it does this, and then i log myself back in, it marks all posts as read i.e when i sign in after being away for a day it wont show me any new posts.
Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

Basically a post is flagged as unread if an ammendment has been made to it between the last time you were logged in and the time you are logging in now, whether this be storing your username and password or logging in each time
Therefore if you close the window you close you session and this then resets your last logged in time
As far as i know there is no way of viewing old posts you havent read that havent been changed between these dates
