Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 3/10
yeah dent does look outward, but im not that worried thats a easy fix, bets bit it NO RUST
, well my bonnet isnt rusty, it just got a dent in it, to put it blunt it looks like someone power fcuked from behind there missis on the bonnet
and no it was no me!
cheers chris, gotta say about there steering wheel, i will NEVER go back to a xr2 wheel, this one on the xr is the nuts just feels a lot better when driving.
shaun, drinks you say.... im sure we sorted that out did we not
if you can get it picked up that would be smashing mate, im gunna price up having it collected anyway, on parcels to go its coming in at about £22 for it to be colledted and bought over but on there web site it says they dont take bonnets
must be due to being damaged easy i guess, i dunno, but it will be packed so

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 5/11
well got the bonnet today, good old DHL didnt let me done and it came with damage
lucky, the main face of the bonnet is not damaged, drivers side back coner is the worst , and theres some on the drivers side front that goes above the light, and a small bit on passanger corner, but these are all fixable and fairly easy done so not that worried.
there is a defect in the swage line on the front of the bonnet from new but its minor and esy over come.
the small outward dent that was seen in the pic when on ebay is a dent and no where near as bad as the pic shows
, in fact its so small, although noticable i may well just leave it as it would cause more hassle and work to remove it, but will cross that when i come to it, or ill forget untill its painted
anyway, thats its so far, have got a exhaust coming which i think was sent monday but nothing arrived yet, but that will more than likly be the last spedning on the xr2 untill i come to start on it
oh, almost forgot, picked up some mk2 spares last week, bootlid, it needs a bit of work due to could of dents (small) but its white so makes a good primer
got a door, its rotton as a pear on the top near the window but the 2 bottom corners are sound so ill cut the bottom off and keep (common rot place on mk2s you see) and junk the rest.
er what else, a pepper pot wheel, rear seats, set of clocks and a box of bits, steering wheel, seat belts, fog light etc just ods and sods, it all came off a 1.1 so some of it is no good to me like the steering wheel or the rear seats etc but it was a job lot so had the lot.
save binning the rear 1.1 seats i'll make a bench for the work shop so i can sit and chill after all the hard work

sorry no pics, wife refused to allow me to put the bonnet on the landing like i did with a FRST one, (which stayed there fro 2 years
) so i had to put it in the shed and forgot to take picks, had it be up stairs i would of got one so thats the wifes fault
this is the exhaust i have coming

White2i :nice mate you getting some bits togetehr for this then, when u hoping to start on it mate?
i am mate, was hoping to start over winter months but with work, money and the fact the rs is back in the work shop it hasnt happened and wont go in the workshop until i have the rs sorted, i need to get some heating sorted in the workshop and sort the roof leaks as they have come back and seem to be getting worse
more pics of the exhaust, these are not the pics ive taken just the ones matey did for me, dispite what it looks like it is stainless, and better looking pipe than the standard exhaust.
mind you the bore size is bigger than standard too which will help a bit with the 2 litre

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 5/11
workshop roof mate, its leaking, its got nail rot and after the wind this year tiles have slipped, did put them back at one point but im guessing they slipped again, and a gully up there is prob full of leaves again making it fill with water rather than drain away.
as for heater, dunno, got a space heater will will be good, but would rather get some rads in there you know.
will be having a word with dads mate when i see him, see if he has any boilers that are good i can have, (as its all oil out that way, no natral gas) and hopfully plumb some form of central heating in there

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 6/3/09
not much of a update really.
car hasnt been started on, but ive moved it a couple times and every time shes started and idles just fine with out the choke (its a manual choke fitted), will be a shame to take that engine out as its a sweet lump and set up well, but it will be kept.
anyhow, the workshop it self is going to take shape before the car is started on, pain really, i have the next 2 weeks (bar fridays, college) off work and i cant work on the xr2, but im gunna use the time to get some of the workshop sorted and clear a space for a car thats coming over to be worked on in a week.
anyway, for now the xr2 is sat outside as theres no space in the workshop at all!
full of engineering stuff, and will stay outside for a couple more weeks at least.
the update today was a new part for her, a brand spanking new parcel shelf!
its got a bit of damage on the corner and the locating lug is pushed in but thats easy to get back into place and the damage is hardly anything and once fitted wont be seen at all
just means ill have to get the seats etc all trimmed up now
well maybe
hopefully have some more new bits for it soon, for now im just gunna get the workshop sorted and the car back in there and go from there.

thats it for now, nothing major just thought i better update it a tad

it will take shape shortly mate, as i cant crack on with it as i want to just yet im going to use the time to get all the bits i want for it and then blitz it.
i will not be painting this one i think, too much hassle and the room i painted the RS in is going to be partly full with machines leaving no room to get a car in let alone spray it, so i will be putting it in a local body shop which does cheap cash jobs if all the prep is done, which it will be

oh, forgot to add, i have 2 reverse lights from a mk1 fiesta now, so when i get a chance ill be taking some spare rear fogs i have and making the mk1 reverse light lenses fit to give clear fogs and ill fit a red bulb.
if i dont like the look, ill slightly tint and i mean slightly, the normal fogs i think

i know mate, i would of liked to of cracked on with this overnext couple weeks, as i think with a couple of late nighters it could of been done bar the final painting, well, near enough that far anyway, but no, got other things to do first.
still not this week but next i will be spending time working on a car just not one of mine so its not going to be a total waste

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 23/4/09
only update so far is some more parts ive been getting together for the car.
ve not started on it yet, tbh i havent touched it for ages
but i might have a play on the bonnet this weekend, then again i might spend the time shooting
anyway, parts so far
for those that dont know or have forgot, i fitted central locking to the xr2 ages ago, and a while back i picked up this remote lock/unlock add on kit for £5 local to me.
if and when i get round to getting and fitting a alarm it will be linked to that but for a fiver i had to have it.

next up, 2 mk1 fiesta reverse lights.
confussed.........
this is how people with mk2's get clear fog lights
they aint 100% but good enough for converting mk2 fogs to clear to see if i like it like that or not, both with post was £12.50, not bad me thinks

next up, a expensive few bits, new bits for the early mk2 xr2 gear linkage, for what they are there expensive, more expensive that mk3 items thats for sure! as you can guess, they prob never been done on the xr2 since it was built and its got more side to side slack that a nymphomaniac whore!

and finally, the bonnet hinges to convert the mk2 bonnet from opening frontwards, to backwards (normal)

thats it for now, dont think ive got any more bits for it as yet.
