You have to jack the car up and take the front wheel off, remove the plastic arch linner and you will see the only 2 bolts inside the wing close to the door.
the arch is also welded to the car just infront of the door on the sill section along with the corner of the slam pannel and the top edge lip.
look for the dimples in the lip, thats where the spots are.
i also recomend removing the bonnet to gain access to them.

I know this post is old but did a search and this is what came up, im just after a little more info:
Ok, so i know what spot welds are, what is a spot weld drill? just a special drill bit for drilling out spot welds? or an actual drill? then everywhere else is just bolted, right?
Secondly, when i put the new wing on do i just spot weld over the same spot welds ive just drilled out?

Undo the 2 bolts inside the wing (10mm). Get a grinder, stick a metal cutting disc on there, cut it all the way along and bend it all apart. I reccommend wearing welding gloves or mechanics gloves or something as this metal will slice your hands right up.
My wing was particularly rusty where the previous owner had cut it back to fit 17s and not rust proofed it or painted it at all! So I kicked it until it came loose from the sill. Bend the wing upwards and use the cutting disc to cut the wing apart where it's spot welded. It should also be glued to the slam panel so tear it away from that. It will be glued and spot welded to the front valance so cut as much of the wing from that as you can and then use a grinding disc and grind any remaining bits of wing away from the rest of the shell
I bolted my new wing on so I can remove it in future to make working on the car easier as I plan another engine conversion. This is easy enough to do. Get 4 pairs of mole grips or C-clamps. Clamp it all in place making sure it lines up with the door, bonnet and front valance. Drill through the wing into the slam panel, inner wing and sill and stick some bolts in and then you can choose what to do at the front valance. I made a bracket:
Rust proof everything with hammerite and waxoyl and use washers with your bolts to prevent them scratching the paint off and causing more rust!
I used M8 bolts all round apart from on the sill where I used an M4 bolt as it's not really large enough for bigger bolts.
Hope this is of some help

nice way of doing it but that wont pass an mot as its not how the wing was ment to be attached.
mot testers are realy stric on stuff like this,
oh a spot weld drill is just the bit, its like a mini hole saw...

RS_Raz - you the man, thats everything i wanted to know
. Has yours passed an mot since you bolted it rather than weld it
AW3K - How would the tester know when that part of the wing is covered by the bumper
. I would prefere to do the same as raz, bolt it for easier access in the future, but need it to pass an mot
.

as the wing will have bolts under the edge of the lip of the bonnet, where it should be welded. its not as the manufacturer intended it to be fitted.

Yeah, me too! Im replacing - Complete front pannel, both wings, both rear arches and the complete rear pannel, welding up the fuel filler flap, welding up the airel hole, welding up the wing repeaters, cutting the battery tray out of the bay and replacing both sills - then in for painting inside and out.
:
Anyone know the best way of (neatly) removing the battery tray? ive been told to use an angle grinder and unpick the spot welds but how am i going to get a grinder in there?

Looks good mate, Im doing front wings, front panel. Then new bonnet, boot, doors and back bumper. That will leave me with a couple of dents to fill.
I want to do the rear arches but that seems a but cut and shut type.
Ive got all my panels etc just waiting to get run around car.
Welding up fuel filler? Maybe im missing something.
While im at im gnna strip down the inside. Make sure theres no major rust or anything. mine seems a good shell really, had a new sill but thats it.
Then for a respray.
