What would you do?

Postby Mattious on Thu May 08, 2014 6:11 pm

Hey
Just looking for your opinions on what you would look at doing to your fiesta rst for performance wise, with 1200 quid

Current mods are.. Beiges, t3 stage2, Ahmed bahjoo chip, OFAB, and pace double cap IC, and a cone filter,

Really really don't want a FMIC been there done that prefer the standerd front end !.

Seems like a good base.... Injectors are maxed out around 190/200bhp... So it would be management and different injectors...

Depends what your looking for i guess...

I would love 220, if that's possible on a standard bottom end and cam?.

I've been reading on both cams and aftermarket Management.

Ofam (or other standalone of choice)
Bigger injectors
Headwork and a Newman cam
ARP Rod bolts
Would be my choices if your staying with the cvh engine

Really considering the OFAM , read good reviews about it, and it's no where near the cost of cossie management! Which is a bonus!.

Only problem I see with Arp bolts, is I'm guessing the bottom end needs to come appart?.

Brilliant bang for buck and a bonus you don't need to do any wiring :) £410 is a pretty competitive price also

Well ya you have to take the sump off, a lot of people I know leave the engine in situ and just drain the oil whip the sump off and replace the bolts with arp ones then bolt the sump back on 20 mins work if that, altho I'm not convinced myself this doesn't have the chance to unseat a shell

Something I'm really considering, just need to find a tuner/mapper around the S/SE area, who is able to do it!.
I've read some good threads on the OFAM , I've got till end of August before my bonus so plenty of time to think. Had a quick brouse on some FMIC if I can find a subtle one that sits behind the OE bumper I would be tempted !. Regards the cam google searched some threads and to be honest there was a lot more bad than good write ups on cams, many of them tho are dated nearly 2/3 years ago so maybe things have changed ??.

Going to speak to a friend ref him fitting the arp's. Practicality says I would ideally like the car of road a very short time.

Russ I use to live on margate, down eastern esplanade, once saw a lovely mercury grey fez, about 2 years ago , anything to do with you mate?.

By changing them to the arps, how does this actually benefit the engine ?. My knowledge of engine internals is fairly poor

Internal work will see more, conrods are your next weak point after rod bolts, mine was running 196 at 12 or 13 psi cant remember-has been in storage for 10 years lol, wouldnt go more than 220 with standard rods. You need to check what intake temps you get, if it goes sky high then your intake cooling needs changing. mine was running a unichip.
