Remember reading about his bad back - hope it wasn't too bad and that he can get out and enjoy the car again!
He replied to my post about what people were up to as well and said he was getting the manifold ceramic coated
Just wondered what had happened between this post and now really

Dave got married Mid August, and went on an extended honeymoon, He delivered the car to Ian (area6) just before, for Ian to get a few running problems sorted and a few other bits n bobs fitted, then have it live mapped by Ahmed...
Can't quite remember when he gets back but I think it's quite soon, I have seen and heard the car running, it sounds awsome, and looks the ferkin nuts in the bay, as you'd imagine with Dave.

Hi All
Amazed this has been resurrected! CheeRS Andy
As Gary said really.....car went back to Ian for more things needing doing/sorted in Aug and I've not seen it since as I got married etc etc
All being well I'll be tearing up the tarmac at the Daddy Thrash for PF in a few weeks time
Amazing how long these things take but at the end of the day it's not a normal engine as anyone who has done..Sunny, Paul J etc will tell you. Things go wrong...as they have and it just takes time to sort. You cannot exactly go down to Ford or Halfords to get things fixed and constantly travelling all over the shop to get things done is a bane too! Nearly there now and Ian H has done a fantastic job
Ant: Turbo comes in virtually straight away...no lag at all..it's all in the design really...just works well together...i.e. head/cams/turbo.
xr2i_babe: Yes Clair I guess that's because I got married? Been a long time coming!
Andy: Yup, still got a bad back but will drive the Fex when it suits
And I don't care about the Jap/Ford thing

No worries mate - just I remembered this post and saw your power figures in your sig!
Will your exhaust manifold be coated for the PF thrash? Might be embarrassing having to ask for a bump start before going out for each run!
Good luck with it all mate - it really is an impressive car and I know how long you've saved up and worked towards getting it the way it is! I know it's not easy especially when you've got a house to help run as well!
Cheers,
Andy

Manifold should have arrived today
Will still need to take the jumper cables as I don't have time to go to Ahmed this year so it wont hot start! Well it will but it needs loads of cranking which kills the battery! Another annoyance which needs sorting....I have to carry a Jerry Can with me all the time to fill up as I cannot go to a petrol station in case it wont re-start
I wish I had help for the house...I pay the lot
New extension's eating up money at the mo so I've no money left to spend on car apart from petrol/ins so nothing else better go wrong this year coming! [fingerscrossed]hopes gearbox doesn't blow[/fingerscrossed]

Sounds like me at the moment! I've had to shell loads out on stuff for my house at the mo (co-own with my brother) so there's nothing left for the Turbo except for petrol
Finger's crossed nothing breaks though - I take it the hot start problem isn't just the starter motor cooking then?

nope, it's something that Ahmed, for some reasno, doesn't do on the engine dyno but does on a live map. To be honest I don't think it's done on puropse it's just one of those things. Sunny had the same problem a few years back. I remember sat waiting for him for five minutes whilst he and Ian tried to get it started. Will try and get it sorted next year. It all runs fine it's just little niggles like smooth tickover etc and starting that a live map will sort out.
Hmm my expenditure got stupid in the last 12 months....£15k on Fez, £10.5k on new runabout £30k on Mortgage extra for extension and £12k on Wedding/HM!!! Amazing how closely money seems to resemble water these days

Sounds possible - Ahmed had to do some funny mapping because of my throttle body at low revs (due to the fact my throttle body is at 90 degrees to what it should be). It looks like there's something you can only test out when the car's actually in the car. I'm sure he'll be able to sort it out for you easily enough
@ expenditure - I daren't add mine up for this year, will be something silly as well!
Cheers,
Andy

The mesh looks cool! Go us!
Sounds as though you're closing in on using it soon, please try and get some footage to us. I'm not sure when the thrash is yet, but would like to go down to watch if I can make it. Gay expenditures!

James: Maybe we can have a 'knock the sheep over' cumbria style shootout
Lucas....not sure as yet but hoping around 170mph and 5sec or less to 60 with a 1/4 around 12-13
Ian: I have got a digicam and a camcorder
