The Recaro Fiesta - the rebuild begins
knuckles :the blue fan connector melted so i needed to bridge the connection and make it stay on permanently
No you don't, that's what we call curing the symptom and not the problem. You need to find out why it melted, and make sure it doesn't happen again! Is the fan switch new or in good condition? Was the connector in good condition? Glad it passed the MOT okay, how is it now the clutch is gripping?

its a new orange fan temperature switch but the connector looked a bit worn out but was OK before i left.
I am going to fit a new connector from fords and solder in a over ride switch in case i need to flick it on permanently like i did today.
The same thing happened on my xr2i - melted the fan connector.
The clutch feels like new - very harder to push the pedal compared to the 2i. Pulls well and really pleased with the performance. was a bit scary at first controlling the power and also you need to hold the steering wheel very hard or end up in a ditch
Now i know why all rs steering wheels get so worn out
andy - thx fella

I used a second hand switch on mine to start with, and that soon gave up. Lob a new/very good connector on there, check the inside of the switch itself is still the shape it should be and see how you go.
And yes, you do have to hang onto the wheel

Well im back from great yarmouth and time for a picture update to show how the Rs is looking now.
Engine bay at the moment - nice and clean
Awaiting green side strips
Wheels nicely polished up - back needs rising up in my opinion, maybe spacing out too
Rear view - all waxed & polished, Rs turbo decal added, Hella rear lights.
Grey Rs interior has started to re-appear, Dash, carpet, trims, steering wheel, door cards etc. Really like it back to standard
Mk3.5 leccy mirrors
original center console , rubber gaiter , Gti grey gear knob
And my latest purchase - one brand new Rs turbo alloy wheel - ebay steal
Need to refurb 3 of the others of find 3 more ....
Lastly i would like to say a BIG thank you to everybody who helped me make this Rs back on the Road
Adam - without you none of this would of been possible.
Jay - thanks for being on the end of the phone everytime i got into a mess, now your back online i wont end up with a massive phone bill
Karl - again, helped me big time sorting my crank seal and made sure i got to fitp. Top gezza
Ryan- sorted my clifford alarm and alot of my wiring problems - thanks alot buddy
Tony - for doing my last minute welding and giving up his spare time to help me at the drop of a hat.
Also to everybody on Fiestaturbo who sorted me out one way or another - with parts and services.
comments welcome

Drums and beam will be painted black when i get a chance. It sits too low at the moment in my eyes as i keep catching the exhaust on speed bumps. Also over big pot holes the suspension bottoms out.
Next problem i have now is that i can hear a knocking from the drivers side lower arm when i pull away or brake.
Recaro stickers are staying put

The big sunstrip looks gash imho, would just have the ones on the skirts, as a nod to what it was

Don't ruin all my plans
Drums will be black shortly , green side strips will follow suit when i have got tyres for the Rs alloys . Front bumper needs a respray along with the dented Rs bonnet. The Rs kit is still hanging off on the rear
I'm thinking of going back to standard suspension - the coil-overs have killed my lower arms in just over a month. The cosworth brakes will have to take a back seat once i fit the smaller rims
I can't bring myself to remove the sun strip - i may get another one made up then remove it. so i can always put it back on in future. It kinda defines the whole identity of the car.

muz :What sort of power is it running then. Just standard for now?
I havent tested yet - was going to do a power run once i get it set up.
I have been told by 3 people it feels alot quicker than a standard Rs. It has K&N, magnex, magnacor leads. Im unsure what the last owner done on the Rs lump but it was a head rebuild i think he said.
