After alot of mucking about the Rs is running again.

Adam removed the old stud with mole grips, replaced with a spare from another head then replaced everything again.

I removed the old worn out camshaft and tappets and fitted a kent cvh35 that had done only 2000 miles. Thanks to steve :)
It runs like a dream now, feels smoother when driving along.

But as usual nothing goes as planned with me and this car..... driving home from work wednesday i hear a scratching noise from the engine bay and cant think of [ERRR] it can be. Get to where i was going and then removed the pulley cover to see the cam thrust plate bolts had come loose and have been bashed round by the pully :o

Image

Check that out ! the bolts were on the brink of falling into the lower pulley then would of split the belt. A lucky escape there.
the 2 bolts were bent 45 degrees :o

Image

Thrust plate refitted with better bolts and thread lock.
Needed to fit yet another cam oil seal as the old one was mulllered from the cam movement.

Image

New Presents from Ford :D
8 new rocker arms
8 new seats
8 new nuts
8 new washers

Image

All refitted - engine purrs now all new bits are fitted. New thrust plate will be needed.

Roll on fitp :)

The car stuggled to do 50mph to and from fitp.

Ford mechanic told me after a brief listen to my clicking noise coming from the gearbox region.
Differential is knackered inside the gearbox.
£380 to rebuild the current box
£786 for a brand new box

He also told me the reason for my bad tracking is the diff slipping which is causing my wheels to extremly pull to the left. Also said the steering rack is on its last legs.

im begining to think that its time to let someone else carry on with the Rs.

I have been collecting a few bits together to get the engine and gearbox changed before ford fair.
Money issues as always has delayed me a bit but here are some bits that i have acquired.

Image

The old white dial cluster has been removed. These white dials were installed by the owner before me. He must of pulled off the speedo needle as these seem to read 10mph too much acording to the gps speedo.

Image

And in its place is the original cluster - cheers mikeeRs :)
its such a satifying feeling knowing exactly the speed your doing.

Image

Picked this up from fitp at a bargain price. Its been zinc coated.
Just need the Kent timing disc now.

Image

New oil pump to accompany the new water pump on the rebuilt engine

Image

head gasket, cam seal, inlet gasket

Image

The bolts

Image

Ive had this sitting in my bedroom for a while. Will fit it once the car is in pieces.

Image

new brake fluid reservoir
This wasn't cheap believe me

Image

Of course with a new cap. my current cap keeps leaking slightly

Image

Lastly a set of Amber's to finish it off nicely. Cant wait to get this knocking engine out and throw the fooked box in the nearest river

some jealous pikey imbread c**t has keyed the Rs :x
6 inch scratch on passenger side rear quarter. Then 3 minor marks on the bonnet.

you cant have nothing nice in this world. Everything has to be bubble wrapped and locked away from the skum bags that share the same air as me.

ive spent so much money trying to make this fiesta better and better. It really makes me sick, ive gone past the £3000 mark now and things like this make me think whats the point. Engine is knackered, gearbox is knackered , steering rack needs replacing. now the rear quarter needs a respray along with the bonnet.

i know im not going to get £3000 back from this car, i will be lucky to get £2000 with it in this state. So it looks as if im stuck with it.
i may take it off the road after ford fair and get a 1.1 run around. At least if anything happens to that i wouldnt care one bit.

Probably the best thing to do at the moment, just take it off the road until you can get her all running good again.

Then worry about the body work afterwards.

Have you got somewhere to store it for a bit?

The thing with any car is the ups are great and make you more motivated to carry on, but the downs are 1000x worse than the ups, which make you wanna just give up. :(

Don't give up hope clark.

i havent got a place to store it yet mikey. Kinda wore my welcome out at adams  :bonkers:

I am going to get the last few bits together to get the rebuild engine in next weekend. That way i can change the box at the same time.
Only need the sump gasket, oil cooler gasket and thermostat gasket.

Bodywork wise i am losing intrest in keeping it clean etc. As i use it everyday for work. even when its filthy it gets all the attention :aviator:

The sooner the new engines in, you will love the car all over again, so get that sorted as soon as possible :D

The cars white so its going to get dirty quickly, not alot you can do there :bonkers:

Gutted for you mate but keep your chin up. once the engines in and running fine with the replacement box you'll be happier, and s/racks are fairly cheap so you'll only have the body to worry about.

Or strip it and turn it into a track car :D

I took the clutch and flywheel off my rebuilt engine today as i needed to get it on the engine stand.

The clutch has AP stamped onto it :P :D

looks fairly new as well. I'm going to get a new clutch release bearing to go with it as it would be rude not too :oooh:
