Just reading the advice section and Muffking's suggestion of turbocharging an RS 1800.

I reckon these cars are too rare to modify and If I had one I'd keep it standard. I'm not mad cos I'd have to have a modded Fiesta as well though.

I did think of turbocharging my XR2i, cos it has the Zetec lump, but it's only done 58k and is perfectly reliable and has plenty of life left, whereas the RST's on 84k and will need a rebuild before long, so it would be better to give that a new lease of life so to speak.

Adrian.

how true...

RS1800 are to rare to change as they are in a way like the RS2000...

Fiesta RS Turbos are now mostly modified and it is quite rare to find a low millage or Standard one...

and the sad thing it is across the whole RS Range now.. no one can do anything really new as most of the cars are more than 5 years old... and Ford will probly never make any more Rally Sport cars again, Ford RS cars will slowly die out, and it is a shame.

if ford started making RS based cars again, they would sell well, but it is very unliky, there is gonna be a Focas Cosworth, but it will have a price tag of around 40k so will be out of reach for most...

Here here.
I think if youre gonna do mad things to a car, buy a cheap one then replace the bits you want.
I dont see the point in spending money on a mint car then completely changing it into a hybrid car.
If you get to that stage when youre talking of turboing it, you might aswell have brought the RST or gone for a Cosworth.
I think standard RS's are best left to the concours guys. I would rather have a mint standard look RS1800 but with a bonkers engine. I'm not into waxing the underneath of my cars so their not ever going to be concours so why not enjoy the car a bit more with a mad and rare engine conversion?
I can understand what your saying but unless the cars mint anyway (which is getting harder) your in for an expensive restore job, have you seen the concours standard!!
Justs thoughts..
Paul R

p.s I've seen a mint met blue RS1800 for sell near me today for £3995 on an L-reg, not bad!
