Sabs Mercedes Sprinter Install

Postby bassboy on Wed Jan 21, 2009 12:39 am

Had Sabs' Merc Sprinter van in for an install over the past week...Vehicle is a brand spanking new Sprinter van...even still smells new LOL! 58 plate with just 656miles on the clock!!!

Booked in to have the following work done:

Alpine W502 d/din headunit
Alpine NVE 099p sat nav
Nokia CK 7W b/t handsfree kit
Diamond D7 amps
CDT HD52 front components
CDT QES1020 (soon to be added)
Chord Chameleon Silver Screen speaker cabling
Rear view camera
Rear view mirror screen
Custom tweeter builds
MDF baffles

First of all, CANBUS = Hair being pulled out!! especially when the supplied adapters dont want to work together dispite being sold as a kit!!! We later found out that the supplied looms are actually part the suppliers looms, and other looms from other companies rebranded! GREAT LOL!

In the end, we settled to retain the steering controls for the headunit, but loosing the controls for the b/t unit through the steering wheel...everytime the steering control CANBUS adapter was added, we were getting several errors up on the dash...NOT GOOD!!

Couple of pics

The amp cabling needs a bit of tidying yet but finally im nearly done!

Sounds for what it is! Midrange gets very loud and when tweeking with the CDT QES1220, it sounded so so clean with just the right amount of bass!

More pics tomorrow when its fully finished!

Looks well, very neat and tidy install. I must ask, why are the amps placed in the rear compartment and not hidden somewhere?

Details details. What speakers/amp/subs/wiring/headunit/sound deadening do you want? Whats your budget? What music do you listen to? Do you prefer bass/mid/treble? etc etc

mike - the reason was purely down to the fact that the owner himself is raising the floor creating a top cover over all the amps...going up by 6inches to the amps will be hidden away...

nisi, as discussed, really depends on whats going into the boot etc and the sorts of designs you have floating around your head
