rs turbo running temperature.
Hi, does anyone know what temperature in degrees Celsius a fiesta rs turbo should run normally. I changed all the cooling system parts including radiator and thermostat which opens at 74 degree. I bought a water temperature Gauge as the one in the dash was not reading well. The temperature running is between 80 and 95 degree Celsius. Is this good please? Is it true that rs turbo's run hot?
Any advice would help. Thanks alot.

Not 100% sure but normally the cars are fitted with an 88Deg stat.

Thanks for your replies.
As I can see this is something common about rs turbos that they run hot. My slam panel gets so hot too. So I think that it's all fine.

Re: rs turbo running temperature.
Its because the rad is so close to the slam panel and that the hottest part of the rad is the top. Also you got to consider that heat rises and the turbo gets bloody warm
. I got a airtec escort rs rad and grs evo intercooler and its still hot. This is the issue with the fiesta I'm afraid. I wouldn't want to run a 74 degree thermostat though as it is too cold for the RS turbo. Standard is 88 degrees and was obviously designed for this temperature. I run a 82 and thought about the ones off ebay but after advice off here opted against it. Running an engine below normal operating temperature is no good for fuel economy or the life of your engine

Hi rsturbonutter,
With a 74 degree thermostat the engine won't run below it's normal temperature. I always wait till the engine is at running temperature before pushing the gas pedal down. A 74 thermostat will open early and the engine won't raise the temperature that much but still reaches operating temperature. Thanks for your advice.
