PE failed MOT on leaky shock
My frst is getting an mot, failed on 2 tyres and leaky shock at the back. so may troubles start. PE ordered 2 shocks and yest i was told they do not fit the springs. so waiting tomorrow to see if the springs they order in will fit if not i am screwed as it is christmas and funds are low. rung up ford and they no longer stock this part any longer.
now. please help what the f*** should i do? i have seen some coilovers on ebay for about £599 but take about 2 weeks to come and i dont really have that kind of cash. are there anyother shocks that fit the stock frst spring? i sun out of MOT today so this is another issue. thank you to all the people who reply. merry xmas.

Re: PE failed MOT on leaky shock
Have you bought shoks and not struts for it cos if its a mk3 back strut it will fit on the springs unless the springs are cut
is it lowered

Re: PE failed MOT on leaky shock
All MK3 rear shocks should be the same height. XR2i rear shocks should be fine for the rear of your car in terms of how they sit. Unless your old ones were just a bit too knackered and the rear was sagging a bit?
MK3.5 shocks have a higher/raised lower spring platform as they use shorter springs on the rear, so if it is a lot higher than it should be, it's possible that they've fitted MK3.5 shocks instead.
I used to work for a motor factors and it's quite amazing how many aftermarket manufacturers don't recognise the difference on the rear and simply supply one shock on the rear from 1989 to 1996.
