i did the first time but found on the flat edge it was running to much causing paint runs and put it down to some old paint i had mixed up but got some fresh paint mixed and did'nt need any only the hardner, but maybe it was inexperence on my part of mixing it
also jay what is the benafit of having a filter in the air line, a few peeps have said its worth having just dont know why?

i hope you mean thinners and not hardner
what filter do you mean mate? i have 2 water traps, and when i come to paint clarks car i will also fit a filter/dryer in line too (the sort fitted to refigeration systems as i got some) this will ensure the air is dry and stop any particals of crap that may be bought up from the cyclinder, although with the traps i have that shouldnt happen, so for you if you dont have any then yeah a filter will be a good idea as it will stop tiny bits of crap getting through, im assuming the filters your on about are the mini filters you fit to the gun like these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spray-Gun-Lin ... 45fb048a6b
and tbh, for the price its worth getting, but i would also have a water trap on your compressor if you dont have one mate
one like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIR-FILTER-RE ... 56397297cd
there the first 2 i picked off ebay, have a look though as your get better or cheaper maybe, but you dont want a lubricator as thats for air tools, and even if you have or will get air tools, i will strongly advise against one as it will coat the inside of the air line with oil, not what ya want for painting, so if you have air tools, use one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wolf-Inline-A ... 3ca9f17fd3

cheers for the info jay, i have ordered a inline filter last night, but did'nt have one on when i painted it, it does have a few bits on the surface but because theres a lot of paint on there i should be able to cut it out
but its good to know exactly whats causing the odd piece of rubish on the paint surface

no probs mate.
it will also be the place you paint in, thats the biggest factor, with dust ans stuff falling from above, your be surprised just how much $hit can come down with insect about and disturbance caused from spraying.
still, you got a lot of paint in it so you should be able to compound it out ok

Re: my fiesta rs turbo(fast ford featured)
right bit of a update
since my last post i've moved and bought my first house which is close to work and ive taken the fiesta off the road as a dailey motor so i can leave it in the garage and treat it to how it deserves to be
it's had to go back to my excellent welder for some major surgery due to a dodgy repair in the past, but has just had the finishing touches to the welding finished this weekend and i just need to arrange a lift to collect it now, here a photo diary of the repairs

damn paul, that is a lot of work, but as jon says, nice to see your getting it done mate, and done right.
did the welder put a new inner arch in before he put that outer one on? or is he going to slide it in from the inside after and weld it in that way?

yeah as i though, a inner arch repair panel so he would have to add to it. not all bad though, if you got a full inner arch (if you could get one) most of it would be cut off and wasted anyway so i think thats the best panel to get and patch in the rest

definatly not mate it certainally does'nt need it, planning to have the complete rear quarter painted and the sideskirts and rear arch spats or both sides as they have some stone chips and hairline cracks in them
then my new coilovers will go on and my freshly flocked dash and centre console will go in

Re: my fiesta rs turbo(fast ford featured)
im a little surprised at how hes repaired that rear turret fella, imo, it should of had the whole thing replaced.
im not saying the repair he has done is not any good, im just thinking it could of been done better, [ERRR] that main turret plate is quite badly rusted, but most people would of plated over the top without cutting anything out, so hes done a good job to do the way he done it
also, i will say mate, as the shock has been left in while hes welded, the rubber seal on the shock top mount will now need replacing as it will be deformed and melted due to the heat of the welding.
sorry for the half negitive comment mate

jay if you look at one of the top pics it was plated over before without cutting it out properly hence the reason it's gone so bad, and as for the top shock mount ive got a brand new set of avo coilovers to go on so it won't matter

its a fairly common place for them to rot, its due to break down of the sealant in the arch, water gets in between and thats it.
i assum were on the same wave length with what ive called the top mount, im on about the top hat bit with the rubber seal that bolts into the turret it self, this is the part thats on the avos thats going on yeah?

good god paul thats is the worst rot ive ever seen by a fair amount, and i thought my old XR was bad, but bloody hats off for dishing such a wad of cash to your very determined welder!
nice to see my old mirrors are still in use
im glad money wasn't an issue as Rs's need saving, many with much less rust than this have been "wasted" and scrapped
im glad your going back to a standard bonnet, i think the bad boy era has come and gone
keep at it mate would be nice to see you and the RS at another show again

cheers jon, i have'nt completly decided about the bonnet but i have to try, i think teh bb bonnet works better on mine due to the deep front bumper and splitter, with a standerd bumper i agree it definatly would'nt work
and as for the rust, it was never going to scrapped due to the history and feature i have with the car and the fact ive owned it for the last 12 years, but unfortchally the rear quarter will have to wait untill the moneys there to be painted adn should make classicford, ff, rsoc nat day,and maybe fitp money depending

Re: my fiesta rs turbo(fast ford featured)
it doesnt have the top mount mate, your have to use your old one, so as said above, your have to get a new rubber to go in as yours will be damaged from the welding

the rubber bit on the right is what you will need, i reckon yours will be damaged from welding,
when you get the car back, have a look up in there if its shrunk away and isnt sealing, your need a new one

well they dont tent to wear out tbh mate, but a new set wouldnt hurt mate.
the top cups and rubber are sold on separately, so your only need the rubbers, i dont think there thats bad a price, if you can still get them??

picked the fiesta up today from the welders/fabricators today and will just be tucked away in the garage untill i can afford to have the paintwork sorted out on it
here what it looks like now, not pretty i know lol, but the main thing is all the rust has been cut out and done properly(this time!!!!!!!!)

picked up my flocked bits from dads on the way home too
