What do you think of them??.

My sister gave me a copy of the "Three cheers for sweet revenge" album and I was quite surprised at how good it is.
This isn't normally my type of music but I can't stop playing it.

have to agree with pez there, its toned down hardcore/emo for kiddies, i saw them live with taking back sunday not to long ago and it was full of 12 year old girls. put some real xhardxcorex on (sorry about the xing)

i liked them focking ages ago, typical cliche i know, but litrally before anyone had heard of them, when they were giving out taster singles for their album "i brought you my bullets, u brought me your love", but then they released three cheers for sweet revenge and it just got so comercailised its wrong. i went to see them live after the 2nd album and it was full of 12 year old kids, everytime we tried to get a pitt going, which is what gigging is all about for me and the majority of real fans, they actually stopped the music and told us to calm down, or they would walk off. its just madness, whats next seating?

Sorry mate but i gotta completely disagree with ya there. I've been going to gigs for the last 16 odd years and the reason for going is not to get a pit going at all.

I get what you mean about bands becoming comercial though has happened to a lot of bands I used to like

mind u, i go to completly differnt gigs to most of the people on here, where 80% of the people are in the pit, and just a few people looking rather scared around the perimiter.

Ive been going to gigs for years and ive seen some pretty mental ones, and there are two types of people, people in the pit, and people not in the pit. If you are in the pit, watch it, you never know what is coming nex, look out for yourself and look out for everyone else, if someone falls, pick them up. Ive been to a couple of gigs recently and the crowds are so young and so commercially influenced, they dont understand this and leave people on the floor to be kicked and stamped on.

The other people are those not in the pit. They stay back and dont want to get battered around, so if you try and start a pit next to people out the way, expect a slap or three. I know ive done it before, stood at the back at a Machine Head gig and some muppet starts clattering about into me and a couple of friends. He got a good fudgekin kick, turned round and looked at me and walked away. If i wanted to be in a pit, id go down front!

And yes, i cant stand commercialisation. Too many bands are jumping on the bandwagon of emo and hardcore and making a lot of money out of unsuspecting parents. Take Lost Prophets. They started off with thefakesoundofprogress, a very nu-metal inspired album, released at the time of nu-metal, now what are they? A complete bunch of girly fudgekin tarts singing about red roses and other such s**t. Totally emo, and totally scene orientated. make music for the love of it, not the money.

Iwas never into the whole pit thing right from the start. Usually i'd either be right up the front getting squashed or stood to the side (the latter nowadays as i'm getting old ).

As you said Pez, I'm usually one of the ones at the side slapping people who try and start pits next to me. Mind you the last couple of times the little fookers have been too pissed to care that you've punched them in the side of the head. Don't see the point of that no more as I've been to too many gigs where I've ended up so pissed I cant remember the band coming on

I'll never forget watching Pantera at the Ozzfest at Milton Keynes a few years back, was a massive serge forwards and me and some young girl ended up on the deck. Even though i'm short I'm quite stocky so I managed to get up eventually then pull the girl to her feet but that was after alot of screaming at people to help us. I had boot prints all over my chest from people who had stood onto of me being carried along with the momentum.

yeah i always pick up people who fall, except i did get a slap once for doing it, a girl fell down and it grabbed her fron behind under each pit and pulled her up and she turned round her friend screamed soemthing about me feeling her up and she hit me so u cant win really but i do understand some pits can ruin the gig for everyone else who wants to stand back and listen to the music, but i cant just stand their and sing, i have to get into it, but im not the biggest guy, hense why i tend to stay away from the fight pits.

I have just found out they are playing Portsmouth guildhall in November. Tickets on sale tomorrow.

very good live, went to manchester to see them.

off to wolverhampton to see them in november and again back to manchester 1 week later,

av got a couple of spare tickets for manchester if any one is interested.

They don't get any of that money though, the record companies do, even the big time artists owe a lot of money to the record companies! Artists don't earn anywhere near as much as people think!

I have to agree. These emo/hardcore/metalcore bands you see around today are nothing like the old HC bands from the 80s. Its all pretentious commercialised s**t to draw in the kiddies.

I saw MCR in Portsmouth a couple of years ago and they were terrible. The support bands (think it was Hondo MacClean and The Bled) were marginally better.

I personally reckon that people aren't becoming more commercial.

I started gettin into alternative about 5 years ago ( im 17 now) and i just notice that more people like this kind of music. 5 years ago i wouldn't see people around town wearing MCR t-shirts, ffaf t-shirts or to be honest any t-shirts. Now they are all in the shops and that but that is becasue record labels are chewing up all the profit that the bands made money on.

I studied music tech at college and found out on every album sold a band makes on average £1. Then they have to split it.

A t-shirt hasn't got publishing costs so they can make money on them.

There was a thing about it in the latest kerrang.

I love the pits, I was at the front of the mainstage at reading. heaving pit and i luved it. But i hate the people who go there to actual assault people.
Gets me crazy. I go for a jump about and a good laugh. Not to be battered by some thug.

I think bands are jumping on the bandwagon, But haven't they always. Pop punk, nu-metal and now emo and that.

Personally, i may be wrong as i wasn't alive but i all i hear from the 80's is the same.
