my 2.0 si...reversed into :(
Re: 2 litre si and xr2i rep, roose hoses & anti roll bar convo
been spending some money this week
bought a recon alternator for my 1.8 xr2i front bracket got it from motor parts direct for £120 exchange it look the same as my si one i exchanged it for but its slightly different to where the manual adjuster bolts on to

also i went down to a powder coaters yesterday about 10 miles away from me with all these parts plus the exhaust hanger brackets which bolt on to the lower strut brace

im having the radiator fan surround, coil pack bracket done in the black chrome finish same to my gearbox cradle, and having the front mount and front engine mount bracket done in silver and the exhaust hangers x2 and battery clamp done in satin black
it came to £50-60
plus VAT at 20%
oh well not too bad
pick them up in 2 weeks cant wait
also took the front bumper off the si and cleaned and polished behind it although i forgot to get a pic of that, but i also removed most pas stuff from it minus a few pipes at the back and the rack

also i tried the vinegar trick on the rear exhaust bracket which bolts up on the rear axle it was really rusty and flakey, but it came up like new after leaving in the a small tub on vinegar and scrub with a tooth brush then i painted it hammerite smooth

also spent £16 on all new bolts for the alternator and front mount bracket and rear anti roll bar ones gotta wait till next week to pick them up
thats it for now but on the 15th january the cylinder head is coming off then to be skimmed and have new stem seals fitted all with genuine parts
its all starting to come together now

Re: 2 litre si and xr2i rep, roose hoses & anti roll bar convo
well yesterday i took the cam cover off, the cams were full of mayonaise

it was really bad, the engines going to need a full oil flush out once its all done and back together
also heres a pic of some of the stuff thats been taken off, most of it is pas stuff but thats no good to me now
i also gave the cam cover a polish but it didnt come up very well, so im thinking about getting it powder coated in the black chrome colour, although im not sure atm if it will match :?

also collected all my new bolts for the xr2i 1.8 alternator mount
new rear anti roll bar bolts and new top front engine mount bolts and in the pic is the mk3.5 manual steering column grommit

also bought a new pillar cover for one side, havent managed to get the other side yet but going to fit this when my rs turbo pop out windows are in
also got a brand new fog light switch and some new exhaust clamps

im really looking forward to getting the cylinder head off on saturday

Ouch - has it been stood like that for long? You've may have corrosion on the bearing surfaces if so. As you're removing PAS anyway, you may as well remove the sump (easier without PAS!) and check one of the main bearings before you run it up.

Re: 2 litre si...mayonaise and some new parts
update here
well on saturday my mate took the cylinder head

cylinder 1 failed on the head gasket  explains the water being burnt off

also drained and took the sump off, when the sump plug was undone water came out first then the oil :hmm:
which was all brown and mushy

with the sump off it needed a massive clean as it was soo gunky and sludgy, also going to take the pick up pipe off and clean that at the weekend
and while it was off i decided prefect time to give it a freshen up
before

after

also bought some stainless steel bolts and washers for the sump

also my mate took the pas rack off and its now gone down the tip!

just the front anti roll bar left now

also painted the exhaust manifold, im not sure if it will last but i used heat proof paint for up to 500 degrees  but not to bothered about it

also painted the throttle bodie as i real liked how my mates came up so thought i gotta give it a go
i would have had it polished to go with the rest of the engine bay but i can't afford it, but this way cleans it up nicely

thats it for now, but at the weekend the steering should be pretty much manual

you probably could have gotten a few bob for that rack if its in working order
yuuuk im glad oil didnt make its way into the water, or vice versa in your case when my gasket went, i was lucky tht only the water got into the bore, or id be having to spend a small fortune on oil changes and flushing fluids like your going to have to
id say two changes and the much should be gone, give it a good warm up before changing it too

Re: 2 litre si...cyinder head off and pas rack binned
got some more powder coat stuff from my mates si, wishbones carriers, front and rear anti roll bars and front brackets

rear one has a few marks on it but should clean up

and a mint boot with rs spolier , to replace my boot at some point prob wont be for a while yet to be honest

also took the steering wheel off ready for doing the manual conversion

and my speedo stopped working on the white fiesta runabout so after some advice from dan, i took the the dials out and check the cable all seemed ok then took the other end of the cable off the top of the gearbox and it was broken

got a new one on order from fords so should be doing that at the weekend typical tho it snapped when i joined the A14 on saturday which is average speed camera capital
AND IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN! (7th time)
dodgy alternator one minute it charges then it doesnt so gotta buy another asap

Re: 2.0 si picked up engine bay powder coated parts :)
fixed the runabout
put a new alternator and speedo cable on it all good
what a pain getting off the old alternator was though
mainly because of the power steering pump being in the way and so the only option really was to take the exhaust manifold off and one of the 3 studs snapped off where it meets the downpipe  , luckly my mate was fixing his jaguar at the time so he sorted the stud for me with a nice new one
new alternator

speedo cable

also got genuine ford head bolts and cam belt for the si

and zetec inside steering rack limiters

and then on saturday i removed the si's pas column and seannysi and me fitted the manual one with the new steering knuckle and recondition manual steering rack
it all fitted nicely but wasnt without problems, and manual steering grommet was being a pain to get in place then with it all bolted up there was a grinding sound which turned out to be the spring on the column.

then today when i was fitted the interior parts back together more problems the surrounds for the steering wheel wouldnt fit, i was like noo!!! its the wrong column but i had fitted the column too far down in the steering knuckle the other end doh! but finally sorted it

hoping to be getting the cylinder head back on the car on saturday
