garage just does it for me when im in a club and there playing some heavy tune i dont even need to drink the tunes just make me bounce.and i love rnb and hip hop as well .. tim westwoods cd is rude as well.i feel that the people on here that say they dont like garage only hear commercial garage like masters of ceromony, they dont even touch on real garage nor so solid.

actually, i agree with you, its like that with hip hop. everyone thinks "ooh, eminem is the best rapper around" because he's so pop, slim shady is a charictor to get attention and so everyone thinks they know hip hop. it 'pisses me off really, but i have listened to "real" garage stuff and i just dont like it
dont take offence though, its just my opinion
peace

I'm very open minded when it comes to music but stuff like this just sounds pathetic.
A couple of sine wave bass notes played at random that aren't even in tune and the most feeble 'rapping' heard since 2 Unlimited!
What really p*sses me off is how they call it 'Garage'. Garage is soulful American House music, DJ Pierre, Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles etc. '2 Step' would be the preferred term.
Oh, and I don't call daytime play on Radio 1 'underground'...

There tune is quite decent, not really feeling it at the moment, mainly because i first heard it months ago and its been getting rinsed ever since. By the way, its 'UK Garage', as in it represents the garage scene within the UK, it doesn't represent garage as a whole. There are many various forms of garage, this is just a part. Therefore, to say 'garage sucks' is harsh.
You don't like this form of garage? Fine, but don't label garage rubbish as a whole. You'll find that the 'crews' produce a similar sound (Mainly strong basslines with the MC's dropping lyrics over). So solid, Pay As U Go, More Fire Crew and Heartless Crew (Best crew by far by the way, watch out for em!!!) All these crews play out at raves. There all either DJ's and MC's. I'd imagine they couldn't give two poos about TOTP.
I'v personally been listening to garage since the mid 90's. True, it has changed alot but there are still many talented people involved in the scene. And to say its crap or poo is really a piss take. Before you pass judgement because you heard the 'more fire crew' who have only been involved in uk garage for a matter of months, listen to some todd edwards, mj cole, wookie, ez, etc etc etc.
I don't personally listen to trance but i wouldnt think of calling it crap, mainly because i know there are alot of talented people involved within the scene.
Thats the end of my rant.

Mind if I jump in here?
UK Garage aka 2 Step is more or less bugger-all to do with US Garage and the 4-to-the-floor Tuffjam-style beats. Where UK Garage excels is through skillful lyricism (try saying that drunk) and heavy, pulsating basslines combined with infectious melodies.
To this end I feel the More Fire Crew are at the more overground end of the 2 step spectrum - yes they can get a crowd jumping but imho there's much better UK Garage music out there, coming from the likes of Artful Dodger (strike me down God), MJ Cole, and so on.
I'd prefer to hear a little less MCing and a little more emphasis on the mixing and musical side of things on the UK Garage scene, but then I've never had much taste and I'm sure I'll get a roasting for my views.
Al - soapbox away now

There is nothing wrong at all with the decent stuff like Edwards and MJ Cole. There is a world of difference between the soulful melodic vocals in 'Sincere' and the plinky-plonk random notes and (c)raps of Morefire / So Solid.
I never commented on the genre as a whole, I like more than a few 2 step tracks, Creed & Norris 'Da Boss' Windrush, Dee Kline, Zed Bias, Doolally etc. What I do object to is wannabe gangster rappers who simply hijacked the term 'Garage' and bear no relation to 'proper' garage. If you want to get picky about genre's 'UK Garage' would be stuff on labels like Tribal UK etc, basically UK produced music in the style of the US producers.
BTW, last album I bought was The Streets 'Original Pirate Material', now they *can* write lyrics!

Aye i am starting an action group to get "garage" taken off radio.
Garage is rubbish.... i am an old skool type of person but am very open to other types of music, i even like some of the "new metal"
But garage is just nasty, cheap sounding music....i am sure i can make better tunes on my PC.

i've no problem with garage music like dance music, its the garage/rap stuff i cant stand. its down to uk rappers not being able to make it in america (cept slick rick, thats a different story
) so they invent a sound that they can make easily that is different to american rappers. they then claim "yo, we reppin for the uk, we aint tryin to be like these us niggas" and such like but it just doesnt work.
some uk rappers are pretty cool, out da ville and such like and some of the garage rappers can rap but cant write "real" raps, thats the difference. the hip hop community dont buy into it because there is no meaning to anything they are saying, the garage peeps dont like it [ERRR] the tune is crap, simple.
these are only my opinions though, its not like i've been into hip hop for well over 10 years or owt
